Cork-board Makeover

Thanks for all your lovey comments on my space, gosh I have to tell you I am in love with it.  It has the nicest energy.  It is so me, filled with things I love and unspoken possibilities.

While at Joann's the other day I found a cork-board and thought be fun to play with.  I had fun with a little makeover for the board, want to see?

Grab a cork-board without a frame.

Cut some fabric wide and long enough to wrap it around the board.

I pulled it taut and taped it in place.  Then using a staple gun I stapled all around the board, making corners when necessary.

I cut four pieces of ribbon the same length, just about the length of one corner to the opposite corner.  Do you recognize the fabric?  Those pillow cases I bought at Target have really come in handy.

I placed the ribbon where I wanted it.

Then stapled it down.

I stapled it down in the corners, then glued pretty buttons over the staples on the front.

When all was dry, I mounted it on the wall.  Easy Peasy.

Hope you are having a great day.

  5. Like what you did with the cork board. There all all sorts of possibilities when decorating those and i see you put up some favorite photos and a color wheel. Love that you hid the staples with the buttons. I was thinking even yo-yos would be good to hide them as well, again, many different things could be done. I'm so happy for you. I bet you run in there every chance you get and just check it all out again, lol.
Oh happy days when a woman gets her own space.

  10. MEREDITH!!!! I missed several posts!!! My blog didn't show your updates! First, I am so sorry to hear about the troubles with your parents. I think everyone I know is going through this on some level. We are at that age where we are still raising kids, maybe helping raise grandkids, and also helping our aging parents. The sandwich generation! I wish your Mama continued healing, and your Daddy as well.
NOW..your space. Your room, your nest, your girl cave....oh la la! Hooray for you!!! I know when my oldest moved out, I was moving stuff in there for my sewing room before she was even out of the driveway!!!
I didn't know your husband was a chiropractor. Or that he change professions. Guess what. My husband did too. It has been one year now, and he is so happy!!
Hope things settle down a bit for you friend.
    Hugs,
    Kris
PS That painting of Max by your Dad is precious!!!

  13. Great idea Meredith! Looking good! I made one of those boards but I need to do some tweaking of it because the ribbon kept loosening up on it. I think I need to staple each interestion of ribbon down like you did. ~Hugs, Patti

  18. I seem to have missed you recently, but so excited to see your new space develop and settle, how exciting! I have a room in the offing in our new house, although it is a start again job, so all the plaster has just been hacked off and now have to be patient for the plasterer to come by when it rains next (yes, I may be wishing for rain!)

Sorry to hear about your mum and Dad, that's hard going for you all when you are running around trying to fit everything in andbe everything for everyone. I hope that things have eased up a bit for you. Take care.x
