My darling Max......



Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our beloved boy Max.  He had a tougher than normal week last week but with some medication he seemed to perk up.  Yesterday morning he could not stand at all, actually compared to Friday it was a very sudden change.   We called the vet right away and they got him in.  We were not going to mess around with this precious boy.  He deserves to depart with respect and dignity after being such a loyal part of our family.  Max we will forever miss you.  Thank you for loving us far more than we could ever love you.

    Ohhhh I am so sorry to see this bit of news. It's heartbreaking and I feel bad and sorry for your loss. Well Max had a good long life and so well loved. He stayed long enough to protect you all from that awful Irma. But it's always so hard to say goodbye. Almost unbearable.

    This is so so hard. We were so lost when Huck passed. Big hugs to you all. I know LIl buddy will be learning a new way to be without Max. I hope that YOu can all look at pictures. I LOVED the Fred Rogers video on when your goldfish dies. It is just the best. It would apply to Lil buddy of course.

    I'm terribly sorry, Meredith. So very, very sorry for your loss. Your story is remarkably similar to the story of my dog niece, Abbi, who we had to say goodbye to on Wednesday. Like dear Max, we could not bear to allow her to suffer after such a happy life of knowing beauty, love, and very little of fear and hardship. My heart knows your sorrow. XO

    Firstly I send my sympathy at the passing of Max, we know exactly how you feel as 3 years ago we also bid farewell to our Max as well. But you are right in saying he deserved to go with dignity and respect, we felt the same way for our boy too. After all the love and loyatly they give us, they have earned love back. I have just done a catch up on your previous posts and you have experienced much on many levels. The hurricane must've been very frightening and what a shock to see all the damage done. I could only imagine the shock to see all the furniture in the pool!! I hope all settled down soon and things get back to normal for you all. xx

    I'm so, so sorry! We had to say goodbye to our own Max just a few weeks ago. While our fur-babies may be gone from this world, they live on in our hearts. ..... And in the carpet, sofa cushions, on your black pants..... ha ha. I can't believe how much dog hair I'm still finding each and every day. Hugs!

    Meredith, I am friends with Claudia and follow you through her as well as you directly. I know how hard it was to let Max go but at the same time how easy as it was your final gesture of uncompromised love. That's when real love is put to the test. To allow a loved one passage from pain. I will miss the fourth of your sons, the one with fur.

I am sure that you did exactly the right thing at exactly the right time, but that doesn't make things any easier does it.
