Sofie the Sheep

Hello Blogging buddies, I'd like you to meet Sofie the Sheep.  Sofie was a gift from one of my favorite knitting buddies, Kaylyn.  She presented me with Sofie yesterday at the knitting group luncheon as a thank you for helping her with her knitting.

Isn't she just adorable? She is a very young sheep and seems to wander off all over my house.  I have to go and find her and see what she is into, well you know how sheep can be!

Sofie likes to snuggle with my favorite Santa.

She found my shawl and could not understand why her wool looks so different than the natural wool in the shawl.  I had to explain to her that we all come in different colors, shapes and sizes, and that includes sheep.

She found the family nativity set that has been in my family for about 60 years or so.  My Father gave it to me last year after Christmas.  I remember this being so special when I was younger.  My Dad always put a single light up there in the loft shining down on the scene below.

Sofie jumped up on Caroline the Dress Form who is dressed up in her Holiday attire.

I found Sofie climbing up the garland on the stairs.  She said the stairs were too steep for her to climb all by herself, the garland looked so much easier.

She went outside to check out the new felted acorn bird house.  No residents yet!

She plopped right down in the middle of Her Highness.  Sofie was amazed at the beauty  of the flowers surrounding her.

She climbed up into the holly tree.  I told her to look closely at the beautiful berries because the birds have been eating them and they will soon be gone.

She found some beautiful purple bougainvillea but had to watch out for the thorns.  She assured me that sheep do not get punctured all that often because of their thick coats, but I asked her to be careful anyway.  I don't need a vet bill this time of year.

Sofie found the items for my next creative idea, hmm.............what will they become?

She found the desk where I blog, I asked her to stay here for a while, but as soon as I turned my back she was gone.

I think I might have my hands full with this new little friend, but with her cute crooked smile I know I will forgive her anything.  Well that is unless she messes with my yarn, then we will have a talk.

Happy Weekend everyone!

  7. Sophie is SO precious. She is a busy sheep indeed. My. Goodness, I don't know how you're keeping up with her antics and still getting any crafting done. Now that she's explored so much, maybe she'll be ready for a nap. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. A very curious and adorable new friend you have in Sofie. How nice to swap gifts with some of your blogging friends. I love your dear old Santa and it seems Sofie was quite at home with him too. Thanks for your creative way of introducing Sofie to us all xx

  13. Looks like you've got your hands full with your new woolly friend - I wouldn't leave her alone for too long at the computer or she'll be starting her own blog! Loved seeing her get around (especially climbing the garland - that really made me giggle!) Nice to meet you Sofie x Jane

  14. OMG! What a fabulous giftie! And I love all her wanderings! Look at Her Highness! It's magnificent! Mine is blooming beautifully right now too! I love your staircase and the garland. I opted out of garland on my handrail this year, but seeing yours is making me rethink that decision! We have company coming to stay with us and they aren't used to stairs. I was thinking an easily accessible handrail would be wisest, but...I might be missing my garland too much! Also love the little decorations you have on the end of each step! Well, tell Sofie I enjoyed seeing all her wanderings...but no pic with Max? Is he jealous? :-). xoxoxo Annette

  17. Sophie!! It looks as if you have settled in nicely.....beware of those holly berries. (They aren't good for dogs, I bet not good for little sheep, either!) You are much safer snuggling with all that wooly goodness.

  25. Oh she is so cute Meredith I love sheep and have quite an assortment throughout my house but you are right they can become somewhat wander-some, what does Max think of your new friend no jealousy I hope. Have a great week :)

  27. Every time I see a sheep I think of you. It is funny how we do that, certain things trigger thoughts of certain people in our lives. Your little sheep is quite the explorer. I imagine she won't mess with your yarn cause she might find herself knitted into the next sweater, lol. Looks like things in your corner of the world are doing fine. We have snow and I am wondering how your son is liking Ohio right now. It is cold!

  30. What a wonderfully entertaining post dear Meredith - I love Sofie, she's too gorgeous, and who cares if she gets into all sorts of places and investigates, her cheeky face will get away with anything! I am a bit concerned about lovely Max though, and while I don't think he would be 'nasty', there have been times when he's been blamed for 'things' that ought not have happened; but I'm sure he is getting plenty of attention too and won't feel left out! Thank you for this lovely intro to your new friend, Meredith, you've cheered me this morning!
    Warm hugs, Joy xo

I'd say stay warm, but I think you had mentioned that you found it a touch too hot, so stay cool.

  32. I love that she is so mischievious!!! You are going to have your hands full with her. I love how you used the sides of your steps, outside the railing. Pretty with all the statues on them. Now where will that sheep end up next???? I should get something and move it around to see how long it takes Jeff to notice!

  33. That mischievous sheep! You will have to keep an eye on her!

  34. Is she the cutest or what?! I enjoyed the sheep led tour and think my fave pic is of her in the tree investigating the felted bird house, which is a thing of beauty, BTW!

  35. Meredith! Sophie is such a precious addition to your flock! I am glad that you allowed Sophie to satisfy her curiosity about her new home, and let us observe the process. I enjoyed my visit to your beautiful home :) By the way, your Her Highness, and Teresa's Christmas cactus inspired me to invest in little Scarlet CC...who is still alive and blooming in spite of my care over the last two weeks! Amazing! Gracie xx
