Here we are mid week already, sometimes I can't believe how time flies by so fast. I thought you might need a bit of a Little Buddy fix as today is all about Little Buddy. He has a bit of a cold, as does everyone in his classroom. Just after I dropped him off at school, and made it to my first patient, I got a call from the school saying he had a fever and was ill. He wasn't that ill when I dropped him off so how how much more ill he could have gotten in the 15 minutes I was gone remains in question. So I packed up and returned to the school to pick him up. I think they might be alarmists as he had a sweatshirt on with his hood up, when I arrived, no wonder they thought he had a slight fever. Regardless I packed him up, called the doctor, and now we are home for the morning. He is acting pretty happy but I will take him into the doctor just to be sure he does not have an ear infection. I had to cancel my entire day of work to get him to the doctor for the only appointment they had available at 1:30. Ah, you forget about these things when you have older kids.
Little Buddy can often be found sitting on his potty fully dressed reading books. He loves that potty, but not for the reasons it is designed for.
He also has some big news. He is starting to walk with these super cool and colorful quad canes. He makes it quite far in physical therapy with them, at home he tires of them easily. But he can do it all by himself. These are too tall and heavy for him, yet he manages them pretty well. We are deciding whether to order him his own set or go right to forearm crutches, the kind that wrap around your forearm and have a handle for you hand. The crutches are more advanced and harder so we are still weighing out all of the options.
He can even get down from them all by himself.
After the doctor appointment, medication pick up and after Little Buddy goes down for his nap I plan to work on this. I am on the border now and I can't wait to see it all finished. This weekend I was on a mission to get every square done. I crocheted so much I gave myself a sore where the yarn wrapped around my left index finger. I crocheted every minute of nap time, and all evening long. Every time Little Buddy was dawdling at mealtime I picked this up and worked on it. When his Aunt came over to play with him on Sunday, this was in my hands. I finished the last square on Monday and started the border last night. This baby has to get done as I have a baby blanket to start for my husband's nephew and his wife, who are expecting their first baby.
Hope you are having a great week and enjoyed your Little Buddy fix.
I am hoping that little guy is right as rain very soon. He is making such tremendous progress.
ReplyDelete(p.s. I like to read on the potty as well. In fact if I don't have a book or magazine, I'll read the toothpaste tube. Ssshhh.don't tell!)
xo, Ellen.
Hooray. Lil Buddy is making such big strides Mere!!!!! What love can do! One of my favorite lines in the movie BUCK about the horse whisperer is when Bucks adopted /foster mom says
ReplyDeleteBlessed are the flexible, for they shall not get bent out of shape!
hugs to you and to Lil buddy and Max . Is Lil Buddy in the FIREMAN Stage?
Your LB looks like he is enjoying his reading time (love the OS shirt). He seems to be navigating the canes very well. Sorry about his cold, hopefully it will just be a false alarm. Enjoy your crochet time after your errands. Heather
ReplyDeleteHe is really growing! AWWW he just thinks of the potty as a Little Buddy sized chair! Everyone has to have their own chair you know! LOL.
ReplyDeleteWow, Little Buddy is making great progress with you guys, that is so nice to see.
ReplyDeleteThis week has flown by. I've been busy, but not with anything fun. :-(
I hope little buddy feels better very soon! Looks like he's already not feeling too bad. :-) Well, at least you get more Buddy time and crochet time today! ;-) Your project is beautiful! I love the colors! Can't wait to see the finished blanket. :-)
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy my Little Buddy fix-thanks-seems he is making good progress too
ReplyDeleteAww I hope he feels better soon - he's such a big boy now and well done to him with the walking. The blanket looks goregous too, looking forward to seeing it!
ReplyDeleteLB is doing SO well and improving so much that I can envision him running down the road all on his own someday. I'm sorry to hear that he has a cold.. no fun at all. I hope he feels better quickly. You're almost done with that blanket.. I forget what you're doing with it? I am done with little hats and have picked up a ripple cotton blanket that was sidelined. I'll show it in my next post. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteYay for a Little Buddy fix! He is so darn cute. Love him sitting on the potty...not quite what you want but hopefully he will get there! Love that he is getting stronger. Big hugs to LB and you.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Poor boy, I wish him all the best and hope he gets better soon! How nice that he can walk with those canes! I remember how hard it was walking with crutches when I had a broken leg (it was just 3 years ago and I was much older than him!) so I deeply admire him!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with your crochet, too, it's turning out great! xx
Oh the little ones. Hope he is on the mend soon. Jo x
ReplyDeleteAwww well done Buddy! Hope he is feeling right as rain again soon. Great job on the crochet blanket, you'll be onto the baby project before you know it. Ali x
ReplyDeleteWow, I was going to comment on the no more tractor signs on Buddy's walker and the yellow bell to let people know he is coming - I assume that is what it is! - and then I see him with the quad canes! How brilliant. It is all progress isn't it, and even little steps at a slow pace are steps in the right direction. I was just saying to hubby at dinner about something else that the 1000 mile journey starts with the first step! I am so proud of Buddy and his family I cannot tell you. I know that sounds totally ridiculous because I don't even really know him or you, but I can see that it is such a hard path to be going down and I know that small victories are hard won, but they are victories and are to be celebrated even more I think!! xx Oh, and I of course love your crochet too!!! xx
ReplyDeleteHe always puts a smile on my face! And those quad canes are fantastic!! Just look at him go!! The doctors appointment thing is so tiring....we are in and out of there all the time it feels like. So glad you have had some time for your stunning piece!!! You are a rock star! Happy day you....hope he feels better tomorrow! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteIt is a privilege to follow his progress ... I do hope whatever ails him is gone as quickly as it arrived.
ReplyDeleteHope Buddy is better soon!
ReplyDeleteI had to smile that Little Buddy seemed pleased to be home. ;) Oh, yes, this does bring back memories of working and having the school call with sick little ones. A bit stressful sometimes. Hope Little Buddy is feeling MUCH better by morning!
ReplyDeleteLooks like he is doing a pretty good job with the quad canes. I'm impressed.
YOU are a machine, Meredith! The blanket is beautiful and you probably have the border finished as I am typing! Ha!
I did enjoy my Little Buddy fix. blessings ~ tanna
Just look at that little guy! I'm So proud of him that you'd think I had something to do with all of his progress. I sure hope it's just a little cold and nothing more serious. There is just so much "ick" going around out there right now. I had to laugh at the potty picture. Piper is dragging her Elmo potty chair around the house and using it as a seat when she reads her books too. Her favorite place right now is the Monday morning library toddler time.
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is beautiful! I often get a sore index finger from yarn too. Then I slap a bandaid on it to cushion my finger and keep on crocheting or knitting! :-). Can't let a little thing like that stop us can we? Have a wonderful afternoon Mere.
Blessings always,
Betsy
Little Buddy is such a cutie! Hope he's on the mend quickly and feels much better so everyone's schedule can get back to normal. Hugs to all of you. LOve that pretty blanket!
ReplyDeleteLove the crochet, the colours are gorgeous. Well done Little Buddy on all the walking, quite a star. I do hope he's all better now. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteL.B. really looks like he's doing so well with walking! Can't wait to see your blanket with edging all laid out.
ReplyDeleteSo glad he's doing well with the canes; it must be an ego boost for him to be mobile on his own. He looks adorable! Thanks for sharing him!
ReplyDeleteTraining to be a proper man, Little Buddy is (sitting on the potty reading)! It is good to take your time choosing the right kind of crutches. I remember my brother had ones where his forearm would rest on, with a grip for the hands. These were quite comfortable. Once too small for him, they were also good for propping under a door handle, preventing intruders in teenage rooms :-) Not their intended use... Hope Little Buddy will be fine tomorrow. Take care of yourself Meredith. xx
ReplyDeleteAunt Claudia sure loved talking to her littlest nephew the other day. Just what the doctor ordered! I LOVE THAT BOY!
ReplyDeleteLittle Buddy is certainly progressing well with his walking! So proud of him.
ReplyDeleteHope he is feeling better soon.
Love the 'reading chair', Meredith. Reminds me of my husband, lol!
ReplyDeleteGo little buddy go!! How exciting and fantastic is this? It must be amazing to watch him grow and develop and take on such huge new challenges! He looks so cute on his potty, maybe he's making sure it's a ok before he makes a commitment lol! And you are making such fast progress on your blanket, wow. I know the feeling, you just want to get it done and move on to a new project. To bad there aren't yarn fairies that come and finish our projects!! Have a happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteaww I hope he gets better really soon! I hate it when kids are sick I just wish I can be sick for them so they wouldnt have to thru it.
ReplyDeleteHi Meredith,
ReplyDeleteI often stop by your blog not just to see your craft projects but also to see Little Buddy's progress. You and your family are just WONDERFUL to adopt and take care of this awesome little boy. I commend you for opening your heart and home to him and providing such joy to his world.
If I had a potty that cool, I'd hang out there too. Love the Ohio State shirt!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on walking with those heavy canes, LB! Good luck to Mom and Dad as they ponder the crutch/cane decision. Either way LB will do well. He's a winner. :)
Aww, he's such a darling. Thank you for the LB fix, it made my day:)
ReplyDeleteI hope LB is ok. We had a similar thing happen to us at nursery once, they rang to say son had a fever,I took him home, took his shirt off, sat him in a cool room and he was soon as right as rain! I like those quad canes, they look sturdy and LB seems to be managing them well. It made me smile that you hurt your finger crocheting so much, I've done that too! Look forward to seeing your finished blanket, I love the colours!
ReplyDeleteTake care
Caz xx
Thanks for the midweek Little Buddy fix, he is just so precious, doesn't that smile just melt your heart! Hope he's feeling all better soon. And well done you for giving him so much opportunity to progress - his enthusiasm is a testament to your dedication.
ReplyDeleteOoh, and your crochet is just lovely too! 😘
Hugs xx
Hi Meredith,
ReplyDeleteLittle Buddy is so cute and his progress is impressive :) Little Ones are very creative finding new uses for the furniture always making us smile...
Hugs,
Gaia.
My Little Buddy really seems to be growing and making progress. Except for the potty thing, of course. Hopefully, that will come.
ReplyDeleteFunny how our projects absorb us. Not a bad thing except for the sore spots!
Just so uplifting. Xx isn't that what all potties are for?
ReplyDeleteOh he looks like the cutest little thing sat there with his books! So sweet. Fab news with his walking, he looks like he is doing well x
ReplyDeleteOh Meredith, he melts me! He is certainly flourishing!!!!! Love a LittlenBuddy post! Give him a smooth for me!
ReplyDeleteXO Kris
Oh, I love the blanket in those greens!
Thanks for the Little Buddy fix. :-) Tell him a lady in Canada says he looks like a super hero with those bright quad canes!
ReplyDeleteThank you for that wonderful fix that has left a smile on my face. What great news about the canes/crutches, a lot to think about, but also exciting. Well done on the manic crocheting, it looks beautiful xx
ReplyDeleteLittle B is the cutest!:) I love the potty pictures. I hope recovers quickly from whatever bug he's picked up. Great going with the canes!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the fix. :-) I hope he is feeling well. Sending Get Well Wishes and a Hug!
ReplyDeleteOh my, you are really doing well on your crocheting. It looks beautiful.
xx oo
Carla
Aw, hope Little Buddy is feeling better!!!
ReplyDeleteOmg little Buddy is so cute. You can see his personality showing on all the picture you take and u do a great job showing exactly how precious he is. I jus love to see his progress and that you include us on his life and growing up. Thank you for trusting us to be part of it. I can understand the blanket "obsession". I'm obsessed with trying to fisnish a baby blanket I started a year ago. Teresa baby is already a year ( I Lost it for a few minutes when we moved). Can't wait to finish it n give it to him :). I hope you accomplish your goal and finish it soon ... So we can see the final project also :) I know it's going to be gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLittle Buddy is so adorable. Hope he is over his cold soon.
ReplyDeleteMarianne x
Ooh that sweet little buddy on his reading 'chair' , that is so very gorgeous!! The whole picture is just so beautiful!

So wonderful to see these leaps in his progress, yo some they may seem small but I'm sure for LB and you they are massive :) Well done Little Buddy :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so exciting to see Little Buddy's progress with the canes...and great that he is enjoying reading... :-) I too am sorry he was ill, but I'm glad you were able care for him as needed. You're a good mama, Mere, and your stitching speed and skill continues to inspire me!!! xx
