Little Buddy had a grand time finding Easter surprises yesterday. He opened his packages up like a pro, look at how great he is using his right hand! He got lots of books, a stuffed little lamb, finger puppets and two cars. He started looking at his books right away, nothing like a few books about an ambulance, monster truck, tractor and a police car to make a little boy happy.
He played with his new toys, went on a long walk with his walker, took a great nap and spent time with the family and the extended family that adores him. Not a bad Easter.
Today was back to school and a visit to his Physiatrist, He is the physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor that makes sure he is getting everything he needs from a muscle/bone/therapy standpoint. He checks his muscles, and his skill levels and makes sure we are moving in the right direction. Little Buddy greeted this doctor while walking with his walker, turning around and walking backwards with it, too. Then he took some steps with his canes, even turning around so he could leave the room. The doctor thought it was very funny that Little Buddy runs, jumps with two feet and crouches down to walk like a duck with his walker. He is 3 after all and 3 year old's like to walk like ducks, run and jump. Little Buddy got a very good report. We still have muscle tightness issues, but those are going to be present as he has cerebral palsy, we just have to work with them the best we can. I think Little Buddy quite impressed the doctor as we don't have to return for another 9 months, that is twice in a row for us!!!!! Usually he makes appointments every six months at the latest. Maybe in 9 months Little Buddy will walk into that office with only his canes and will be using that right hand of his even more than he is now. He has also grown 2 1/4 inches in a year. I am so proud of him
Hope you all had a nice Holiday weekend.
It is amazing watching a child feel secure and loved and it actually shows in growth in all areas. I know he was loved by his foster parents as well. It's so wonderful that you kind of blended into his family. I love seeing him studying those toys. He is such a cutie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special little guy you have! And the Easter bunny must think so too!
ReplyDeleteThose sound like the exact things a little boy would like to find in his Easter basket. Miss Piper got books and stickers and bubbles, etc. too. No candy. She's busy enough without all that sugar. :-) She sure liked the deviled eggs Mama made today with some of her Easter eggs!
ReplyDeleteGosh it sounds like he's making great progress and I just know most of that has to do with YOU Meredith. You are such a great Mama an I know that you work with him all the time. He's such a cute little guy. I'm glad you had such a wonderful day yesterday.
Blessings my friend
Betsy

Hooray for Little Buddy's good progress! I'm glad he had a great day yesterday. Our family had a good day as well, attending various churches, having a special meal together and some of us played a game of pegs and jokers...have you heard of it, Meredith? It is kind of like Parcheesi. Some of us watched the AD tv program together, and I finished knitting another baby hat, too. Wishing you and yours a Happy Week! xx
