Yep you guessed it, Little Buddy and I have both been ill. First it was Little B, then I caught it a week ago and now he has it back again, and even worse this time. Lots of the kids I work with have been ill too.
I have always loved the phrase, "The dreaded Lurgy." I feel that I am British, well not in this lifetime but maybe in my last one. I find all things British just fascinating. So I have decided we both have The Lurgy.
He has missed four days of school this week. I should have missed a day or two of work, but I didn't. I am now feeling much, much better, especially after many naps this past weekend. Little Buddy has a ways to go yet.
Here he is trying to blow raspberries with his lips. Even when is not feeling well he can still make me laugh. Being around all those other preschoolers has not been easy on his immune system this year. The first seven months he lived with us I don't think he was ever ill, but this school year has been hard. I guess he has to build up that immune system sometime.
Lord you can see in this picture I really need to wipe his nose. I have been following him around with a tissue which has not made him happy. We went to the Doctor today just in case it was an ear infection that would rear its ugly head right at 5 pm when the office closes for the weekend. Nope, he just has a nasty, miserable, cold with a sore throat which makes him not want to eat a thing at all. Not even potato chips or chocolate chip cookies his very favorite things to eat. My little one has already lost almost 2 pounds. Well he will gain it all back soon enough. Having Mr. 21 return home a few days ago has helped brighten everyone's spirits. You have to love a young man who picks up his coughing, wheezing and sneezing brother and could care less of the germs being spewed all over him.
Little Buddy will cough directly in your face and then say, "You have to cough into your elbow!!!" Well yes you do little one, now maybe you can try it!
Hope you all have a healthy weekend.
Oh dear Meredith, what a week. I do very much hope that The Lurgy is on its way out. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hugs to you. xx
ReplyDeleteDang it.. sorry you both have that. I also feel British as I descend from one of the Kings of England. I "lord" that over Dayle all the time. LOL! How long does your son get to stay on this visit? We've also gotten the ick brought home by our grandsons and each have taken turns suffering with it. Bleh. Have a restful weekend! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteOh dear! We too have had The Lurgy - a dose of chicken pox and now we all have colds! I hope you are all better soon x
ReplyDeletePoor wee LB, the Lurgy is not nice. And poor Mom too. Hope you all recover fully soon,
ReplyDeleteJillxo
Awww, poor little fellow. I hope that he is much better very soon! I love the lurgy phrase, I have a new one for you that I will e-mail! Hugs. xx
ReplyDeleteThe lurgy is definitely doing the rounds. Hope you are both feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwww...poor little boober. I hope he is feeling better soon and YOU TOO!
ReplyDeleteMy grand-nephew Pace has been ill too. Carley had to take him to the ER the other night. Apparently he has picked up some sort of stomach virus and so nicely shared it with Carley.
We were supposed to visit with them this weekend, but I think we'll have to make it another time.
Oh poor you and poor Little Buddy. I do hope you're both all better soon. How lovely to have Mr 21 home though. Wishing you a good weekend. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteOh my, you poor dears. I hope little Buddy puts his weight back on soon and that you are both feeling much better even sooner. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Meredith, It has been allergies here with me with all of the flowers blooming. I know about little ones catching everything once they start to school because parents don't keep their sick children home. I like your vest, you could always try selling it if you have an etsy or e-bay account. Buddy is growing so fast and it will be hard when your son goes to college. I was lucky mine went to school here at our college. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, the both of you!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope you're both feeling better soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the coughing into your elbow part!! What a doll Meredith!! So sorry you all are sick....not kidding when I say that is going around again up here too. Hope you guys are better soon and how awesome that your oldest is home! Take care...Nicole xoxo

WOW! Even not feeling good he can have fun! So many good shots! I am so sorry you both have been ill. This winter has seemed to be one for the record book around here. It just keeps going around and around at work. I think it is finally easing up though. (if I didn't just jinx it). Hope you both feel better soon. Just think our whole family is together again.
ReplyDeleteI he both you and little buddy feel better soon :)
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't want it and am sorry you and yours are battling the "dreaded lurgy" I too, have appreciated the British title for the illness :) I am cheering little Buddy on as he dutifully builds up his immunity and learns to cough into his elbow. :) So glad your menfolk are all home for a bit! xx
ReplyDeletesounds like a rough week for the both of you-hopefully this weekend will be better-hugs
ReplyDeleteHa-ha! You always manage to make me laugh. I had never heard of the elbow cough until my youngest said that's what he was told to do by a teacher. Hope everyone gets to feeling their best very soon. Have a good weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteAwwww, feel better you guys! I never heard of the "dreaded Lurgy" but I think I will be saying it now! Lots of bugs up here with little kids, we had dinner at friends and all their kids were sick the past week, oh dear hope our immune system is healthy! Try to enjoy all your boys, sending hugs from a distances, xoRobin
ReplyDeleteWell I hope you are feeling better soon and poor Little Buddy. Tiger had strep throat (it went through his preschool like wildfire) but is well now. Lucky no one else got it but he did have to stop kissing his sister for a few days :) Big hugs to you both.
ReplyDeleteLinda
I'm so sorry that you and LB have "The Lurgy". It sure doesn't seem to want to disappear this spring like it normally does after winter goes away. I know so many that have it. Poor little guy. 2 Lbs. is a lot of weight. I sure hope you will both be over it soon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I hope you both get well, soon!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Gaia.
You signed up for something I can only be amazed by. I forgot that on top of all the wonderful parenting you have to be a nurse too when they are little.
ReplyDeleteUGh. So glad it is almost over.
HE looks adorable even with a runny nose.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteMr. 21 is the best :-))
Have a great weekend and get well soon.
Carla
Goodness, he's adorable. Hope you both continue to mend. :-)
ReplyDeleteHope you will both be better soon...healing thoughts coming your way.
ReplyDeleteAww, that sounds pretty rough for both of you. I hate to be sick and it's so much harder to be sick when you're the mom, let alone when the little people are also sick. I hope you both feel better very soon.
ReplyDeleteYou mest be exhausted. Hopy you both get well soon.
ReplyDeleteAmalia

ReplyDeleteWell, dang it. One certainly cannot say,"...and a good time was had by all."
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are feeling a bit better and here's hoping that Little Buddy is on the mend. I did have a good laugh about coughing into your elbow.
How good to have your son home for a bit.

Having a little one in school really does up your exposure to all the nasty bugs out there.

ReplyDeleteOh I hope you guys feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI think I was there too, in England I mean, in a previous live ... ;-) As you might have guessed seeing the pics.
I really hope that one day you have the chance to visit that special place! Big hugs, Mirjam.
Have you ever listened to the Goons sketch that the 'dreaded lurgi' phrase (that's how they spelled it) comes from, if not I think you'd love it.
