Ah Saturday........

Saturday I just love you, you are by far my favorite day of the week.  I work like a  crazy woman Monday-Thursday.  Friday is really left for appointments, errands and Little Buddy's therapies.  I feel like I am running as fast as I can on Friday to get everything done that I did not get done during the week.  But Saturday, my goodness you are the best.

Today Little Buddy and I made  a trip to Joann's for some Valentine activities for me and for some of the kids I work with.  I must have missed all they had out for Valentine's Day a few weeks ago because the pickings were very slim.  We went to the grocery store as the pickings at home were also very slim.  We made a quick visit to see, "The Aunts", as he calls them.  I ran to, "The Dreaded Walmart" as we call it at my house, for some new cups with straws for Little Buddy.  I also went looking for the great new outdoor rug shown above, while Little One had a nap and his brother was home to watch over him.  We have had the same rug for a couple of years, but it was faded and I could not get the mold out of it so it was time for a new one.

I puttered with my plants that were sadly neglected this week.  For some reason I forgot to water them, I pruned a few, swept up debris and gave them a good soak.

There was time for a little crochet while sitting outside admiring the new rug.  The weather is just perfect today, in the low 70's with a combination of sun and clouds.  This is the Florida I adore, not overly humid and not too hot.

I talked to Mr. 22 who went shopping for some new shirts to wear at the internship he has this semester.  He has an interview for a big internship for this Summer on Tuesday, his second one so keep your fingers crossed he does well.

I was informed by the Superhero above, while grocery shopping, that he would like to have popcorn in a red bowl, well how can I resist a Superhero?  He needs all the energy he can get to fight villains everywhere, just like the three characters on his new favorite TV show P J Masks.

Mind you this Superhero was having a fit after lunch and was banging on the table so I left the room telling him I would be back as soon as he was finished.  Well it wasn't to long until I heard a big crash, he had fallen over and landed in Max's water bowl.  There was water EVERYWHERE!  It makes me laugh now but I was not pleased at the time, so it isn't a perfect Saturday but it is darn close.

How is your day?

  3. You make make me feel breathless with all you do and I know weekends are yours and you accomplish a lot. I love your new rug...I worry about mold, too, and wonder if there is a way to treat it outdoors without being hazardous to people, pets and the environment.

Is that a table runner you crocheted? I love it! Very unique.

Your Buddy is precious and very much a Superman. I remember my Kevin insisting on his Superman and Batman P.j.'s every night so I was vigilant about getting them in and out of the laundry. The I bought a pillowcase with super heroes and he was very happy!!! Smiles:)

  4. It looks like a satisfying Saturday for you. My weekends are usually very busy attending to the needs of the family. I look forward to time during the week to take time out for me and have a break.
Your rug is very pretty and matches the upholstery of your chairs so beautifully - perfect choice. I would never have guessed that your plants had been thirsty; your zygocactus impressed me because it has come along well since you first posted a picture of it.
That's not the only thing that is coming along I see - your ripple baby blanket is also growing nicely.
Thank you for a cheerful happy post! I love to hear about life when it is going well. :-)
    Have fun

  5. I read about your Suoerhero to Dennis and we were both grinning. He reminds me so much of Piper. :-). Your Saturday sounds lovely and I want, want, want a rug just like yours. Unfortunately, our patio is under about 24 or so inches of snow right now. May I come visit you please? lol. I'm so glad you've had a good day, you deserve it so my dear Meredith.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

But it's for you , you are the glitter queen, young and sweet and always cleans oh yah.....Colin will love this new rendition! I work Saturdays, but it's fun work so I'm happy to go. But it's alwYs harder to get going on a Saturday morning than other days, what's up with that?!? It snowed 6 inches today so your pictures are so pretty and look so warm and summery. I love your new carpet! I guess super heroes have thir ups and downs too!! Enjoy your Sunday!!

  8. I cram my days off so full and then I neglect stuff at home as well. Your outdoor furniture is nice and so is the rug. We've got rain and no flowers outdoors. Chilly and windy today. Your little super hero is adorable, in spite of the meltdown. It's a childhood thing. Only my daughter did it when she was under 2 and we didn't stand for it. I'd walk out of the room as well. Then she'd come find me. Now she's 36!Hugs! and happy weekend...glitter queen!

  11. Your Saturday sounds every bit as busy as the rest of the week! The new rug looks great. Good luck to Mr 22 for his interviews. Mmm, had to smile at LBs meltdown, happens to us all doesn't it, no matter how sweet our smile. We had snow overnight here, it all looks very pretty. Enjoy your Sunday

  16. You certainly seem to be busy, running around everywhere. My weekend has been so quiet that I've been wishing for some excitement - but I'm conscious that you have to be careful what you wish for. Maybe I could do with a superhero over here to spice things up. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend Meredith. Love to you all. Janet x

  17. You are busy! I've been collapsing the past two weekends and hoping this isn't a new trend. Love the Hitchhiker in worsted weight; it's one of my future projects too. Glad you and Buddy are well, he's so cute!

  18. I'm sorry, but I laughed when I got to the part about Little Buddy falling over into the water bowl. :-)

As for your busy weeks, I don't know how you do it. I'm glad you have Saturday to semi-relax in, and hopefully Sundays are also a restful day for you. Enjoy your spell of good weather!

  19. YES!!! I love Saturdays too! Instead of waking up at 5:30, I can get up when Augie Dogie starts grunting, usually after the sun has risen!!
But goodness Meredith!! You do in one day what I try to do in three!!
Good luck with the internship for 22. Two of our kids ended up working at their internship. Not there now - but a great beginning for both!!
Glad that Buddy wasn't hurt in his fall and hopefully a lesson for him.
    This weekend is special in that it's a 3 day weekend :-}}}
    Have a great one!!!

  20. Saturday is among my favourites for sure, but it does not belong to me. It is a day for the kids. It is really their only day off and we tend to do what they want/need. I do like to have everything taken care of before Saturday rolls around, so that my family and I have the freedom to do whatever. Whether it be relaxing or running around shopping, or driving them to and from being with friends, the day is unstructured and freedom is the main goal of the day.
Have a great weekend, although I'm visiting you near its end.

  21. Meredith I don't know how you do it all. I had a good day with the Grands and my daughter and son in law, but now I'm exhausted. Resting some today but will visit my Mom later. You deserve a wonderful Saturday for sure.
    hugs,
    Linda

  23. My Saturday is a little like your Friday - with a slow start though. Still, I like it a lot. Superheroes are only humans, too :-) Wishing you a wonderful week. x

  24. Love the new rug! So cheery. Superheros deserve red bowls, but LB should know that they do not throw fits. ;)

  25. Someday when you can retire, all your days will be Saturdays. :-) Your outdoor space looks divine and the perfect weather for you to enjoy it. You are very lucky to have that warmth now. It's pouring down cold rain here and 42 deg. But we're cozy by the fire. I love that your afghan and mine are similar in color.. you're moving right along on that! What a joy seeing your winter blooms and your xmas cactus is looking so happy and lush! And your popcorn popping superhero made my day. I hope your Sunday is going as nicely. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  27. Hey Meredith, I"m glad you had a good day. Love the new rug and it looks like you're making progress on the crochet blanket. You gotta love those Superheros, never a dull moment.

  28. Fun rug! Your post reminded me that we need a new one at our front door, thanks! Glad your Saturday was good (except for the melt-down part). Our Max is really into Superheroes, too; it must be a 3/4 year old thing. You cleared up a mystery though as Max has been talking about P.J. Max, and now I know what it is! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

  29. We are still getting lots of cold rain, but at least no more ice! Stitching outside sitting in your cheery sitting area, and enjoying your new rug sounds lovely. We have packed away most of our Christmas decorations and I have put out more heart decorations here and there. Your pretty plants and yarn projects are delightful and as for the spilled water, no doubt the masked superhero is to blame... not Little Buddy :) Wishing you a happy week, Mere xx

  30. Even with little Buddy's accident which I did smile at it sounds like the perfect Saturday to me to :-) and so does the temperature of the weather oh what I wouldn't give to see the sun and feel its warmth. wet, dark, windy and cold here today. dee x

  32. January sure looks different in Florida than it does in Wisconsin!

I was at Joanne's a few days ago and had the same experience. They were setting up for Easter and there was very little Valentine stuff to be found. What is that about???

LB's meltdown reminded me so much of my son when he was that age. You handled it so calmly! One of these days he'll be old enough to do his own clean-up!

  33. I have just closed my eyes and I am imagining that I am sitting with you on your beautiful patio with your gorgeous new rug, Max and Maggie sleeping at our feet, and we are chatting and knitting. It's much better than my reality of driving to work not sure where my lane was because of snow cover, 12 degree cold, lake effect snow coming and going, wondering "Why didn't we have a snow day???" sigh. Prayers for the big boy!

  34. Your glittery hearts are so pretty, Meredith. I just love how into glitter you have become. :) Your new rug looks great, I really like how it looks with your stone floor and the couches. Very stylish. Little Buddy sounds like he's getting a little feisty there, haha. I totally understand not wanting to laugh at the time...we were informed of a yogurt tube incident performed by my son in school last week which I'm laughing at now but was definitely not finding funny at the time! At least I wasn't the one cleaning up the yogurt, right? :)

  35. Love Saturdays and love your new rug. And love Little Buddy in his mask -- too funny. Sorry about his meltdown...never easy at that age. But you can't help but grin at him...he is such a character!! What spirit and determination.
