My latest Hitchhiker is fresh off the needles. I have been working on this one a few weeks as there has just not been much time to sit and knit. I love how the colorway worked out in this pattern.
This is made with Online Trend-Collection Linie 346. a 100% cotton tape yarn. It is very soft even if it doesn't look that way. Made with size 10 needles, so it only has 22 out of the 42 teeth the pattern calls for. This wild one is for me, as I am not sure who else would want it. I used almost the entire 250 yards of this yarn to make this scarf. A good way to use up one ball of sale yarn bought earlier in the year. I will start another one for one of Little Buddy's therapists for Christmas soon.
Today is the closing on my parents condo, it is a bittersweet day. I met the new owners last week when dropping off loads of paperwork the title company needed. They are a lovely couple who want to be near their children in the winter months. I can see they will get a lot of joy living in the condo and looking out at the great big pond with a weeping willow, an occasional alligator and loads of water fowl. It is a peaceful place to be. I hope they are happy there.
I popped outside today and look what I saw. I have strawberries! These have been placed higher than last years, do you remember my strawberry snatcher below? So far so good on my tomatoes and my zucchini plants, but this is Florida we can get critters or fungus in a flash. I am not going to get my hopes up there will be actual produce from my plants for a while.
The work week for me is finished. Easter has been all packed away for another year and the house straightened. Now hopefully there will be some time to play with yarn.
How has your week been?
The Hitchhiker is a beautiful collection of colours, I think it looks fab. I'm very impressed with your strawberries, very tempting.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find plenty of crafting time. I've been lucky enough to be able to make good progress with my various projects this week and I've even managed to venture out and do some gardening.
I would definitely wear that scarf! It's beautiful! The recipients are very lucky. I mjade a similar one for a friend for Xmas. I think it was called dragons teeth.
ReplyDeleteI like the cotton though as I can't wear wool around my neck.
Beautiful scarf. I love photos of scarves but I seldom wear one. I am finishing a baby blanket for my next grandchild, due just about anytime. I am really excited as this will be the last one and will make 5 in all. Hope the tomatoes do well. There is nothing better than a homegrown tomato. Sending lots of love your way.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sharon
That hitchhiker is gorgeous! I think that shawl will look really good with a pair of jeans and a white shirt, just like the one the dress manny is wearing. Maybe a white peasant dress? I didn't even think of doing it in a heavier weighted yarn. Brilliant! Your dog looks tuckered out hehe.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in the Hitchhiker. I just peeked at link and I am going to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteSo cute about your strawberry snatcher. We had a Springer Spaniel growing up who loved strawberries fresh from the garden:)
Love the hitchhiker! The colours are beautiful. If I ever learn to knit I know what will be my first project. Sweet Max!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hitchhiker Meredith. I love the colors. And strawberries!!! Oh my goodness. It will be months before we have strawberries up here in the north. Poor Max. He loves them. I don't think I could hold out with that sweet face. I would be giving him the strawberries to eat. :-). I'm sure it's been difficult seeing your parents condo sell, but how nice it sold quickly and it is one less responsibility for you to have to deal with. And it will benefit another family being close together.
ReplyDeleteI have an idea! How about if you fly to Portland in a couple of weeks and have dinner with us girls? Wouldn't that be fun! And then you can drive home to Spokane with me and spend a few days at the lake. We can knit and talk and talk and talk. :-). I know it's wishful thinking but wouldn't it be nice? Have a lovely weekend sweet Meredith and give your little guy a hug for me.
Blessings,
Betsy
Your gorgeous shawl is putting me to shame. My unfinished pile is once again out of control. And I had such good intentions...

Your latest hitchhiker is a triumph, and I hope you enjoy wearing it, Meredith! This season of your life is full of major changes and I am sending you extra hugs as you cope with all the practical and emotional details. If Little Buddy is interested in your garden he might beat Max in strawberry snatching this year!
ReplyDeleteI just filed my taxes! I dropped some stitches in a preemie blanket I am knitting and need to sit down and see if I can pick them up without having to rip out a row. The first white blossoms on our huge wild cherry tree have popped open, and one of our little fruit trees has some pink blossoms on it. The sun has been shining the last few days and today the grand girls helped their mom spread out an impromptu picnic on an old quilt outside.
Please give Max some love pats from me :) xxxxxxxxxx
I just love that hitchhiker, really love the colorway - makes me think of Summer! :) I'm currently testing a pattern for a friend: I'm making the item in thread (probably a fingering size or something) and it's driving me a bit nuts TBH, can't wait to relax with an easier project I can work at mindlessly...
ReplyDeleteYour shawl is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAns so is that sweet strawberry snatcher ;-).
Have a great weekend, lots of love from Mirjam.
The Hitchhiker is lovely, I like how the colours run into each other. I gave up my allotment at the end of last year and I'll definitely miss homegrown strawberries this year. I'd like to make a strawberry bed in the garden if I can fit one in somewhere, if not I shall do as you're doing and grow some plants in a container.
ReplyDeleteNever made a Hitchhiker but yours is sure making me want one. Spectacular!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you MEre as you wrap up that part of your memories. So difficult. I'm glad you like the new owners. You will feel some relief Ihope as we did when Fireman's parents house sold. You have enough to do in your own home.
ReplyDeleteI love your hitchiker scarf. I adore the colors. It is good to hear about a cotton yarn/tape that works well and feels good.
My week has been quiet but today is packed with little appointments. Im weather influenced and it has been a cold gray week. Oh my. I keep telling the sky that I know the sun is up there somewhere.
I LOVE the hitchhiker, my favourite colour of them all, perfection. Keeping my fingers crossed for you with your garden produce, it really is one of the best feelings to eat your own produce. Take care.
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww...Max looks like he wouldn't snatch up all your strawberries!!! He's a GOOD pup!
ReplyDeleteHitchhiker looks great in the colorway. On you with a white tee ---- GORGEOUS!
I put the little cowl you made me on with my jeans jacket the other evening. It looked fabulous and I felt all swooshy-fancy with it on. :-)
Meredith I don't know how you do all that you do. Love the hitchhiker and the gorgeous yarn you find. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Wonderful scarves. How nice to see a picture of Max.
ReplyDeleteLove your latest Hitchhiker Meredith - gorgeous! What vibrant colors. I agree with Ellen - jeans and a white shirt...or a white peasant dress -- perfect! Max looks like he is dreaming of strawberries. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteBravo on that gorgeous shawl! I also like how the colors worked out. Strawberries already! Lucky! I'm off to swim right now.. then a romantic drive and dinner up the gorge for our anniversary. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteYour hitchhiker is beautiful Meredith I love the colours very striking and I'm sure you will enjoy wearing it. Grab those strawberries before someone else does haha I hope you have a huge crop. It must be reassuring to know that the new owners for your parents condo are lovely people and will appreciate the property sending you hugs I know it can't be easy. Have a lovely restful weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteGreat colourway in the scarf. I like your rose too. Such a delicate colour. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Hitchhiker! You are sorely tempting me to another start..... Have a wonderful weekend with an extra hug for LB and a non-strawberry treat for Max.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness - strawberries already!!
ReplyDeleteGreat blend of the way your colors blend in together!!
And Max!! God Love him!!!
Bet he likes it when things settle down around his house too : -}}}
Another beautiful scarf! And strawberries too, Yum! I'm working in the yard a lot this week, not getting much yarn action, but my baby quilt is almost done. What are you going to make next?
ReplyDeleteWow you already have strawberries? That's early. We have a strawberry patch close by (it seems a major means of income for the owners, because it's open most of the year - but not yet!)
ReplyDeleteYes, I've seen that scarf -very beautifully don, Meredith! Am waiting till I find the right color combination to do that one:)
Oh, before I forget, in about 2 hours the link for SEASONS opens. I put the time a day earlier so that bloggers who are ahead of USA time, have a little more time to put in their link. I wrote an email to everyone, but got a failure notice for yours. Did yo change it? No harm done!
Hope to see you at Seasons soon:)
Love the scarf. I may have to try one. Enjoy those strawberries .... mayby your thief could have just one?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Eileen
Hello Meredith!
ReplyDeleteReally love that zingy Hitchhiker Scarf!!! Well done!!!
And strawberries, yummy! Here all the plants have barely come out of hibernation, but we had a few slightly warmer days so the first buds are coming out! The trees are still very bare! I'm looking forward to more things growing again soon!
Love,
Ingrid xx
