Before we get to the big news I want to thank you all for your special comments about my Great Aunt Rhoda's doll Dinah. She really is a treasure to me and I appreciate you all understanding how very special she is.
Okay on to the Big Boy news. This past weekend Little Buddy and I had a big chat. We talked about being done with his crib, which he really loves, and moving to a big boy bed. This boy of mine while five is very tiny. He has been very safe in his crib but it was time to move him on. If I am expecting him to act like a big boy I need to start treating him like one. I decided that what works for me is not fostering independence in him. I know nice therapist Mom I am doing some things to help him move along in his development but holding him back in other areas. I need to help him in all areas!
Do you want to peek?
We have had this bed almost as long as we have had Little Buddy. We had some special money of his to spend before he was adopted or the state would get the money after he was ours. This was one of many things we ordered for him with those funds.
Little Buddy helped me put it together by pretending to use the tools and basically getting in my way. I asked him to hand me the screwdriver and he said, "Mom, I would be delighted!" He makes me laugh. He is able to get in and out of the bed all by himself. He can use his canes or crutches to walk right up to it and sit down. He loves it! And like a very good boy he does not get out of it during nap time or bedtime. I am so proud of him, this is a big step. Now about that potty training.........
"I'll be delighted." Love it! Buddy looks right at home in his new bed. One thing will follow another I'm sure...he's a smart dude!
ReplyDeleteLove to you for making all of these beautiful moments happen! :)

That is just the cutest little bed. Son just went through that with the 3 year old Grand. When the new Grand arrived last July he had to move into a bed so the baby could get his crib. Touchy subject it seemed but he worked it out. Now every time I go over, the first thing he has to show me is his new bed. It's not as nice as that one though. Buddy is one lucky dude!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I read your blog. I can't believe how big Little Buddy is now! And yay for the new bed!
ReplyDeleteHe looks "delighted" to be in his adorable big boy bed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a thrill, his little face says it all. That is one impressive bed, he is doing well.
ReplyDeleteYay for the big boy bed and being such a good boy. What a hoot he is. "I would be delighted." Cracks me up. We've had a bunk bed for our boys since they were little and will be giving it away this weekend. Bittersweet times for sure. Hugs and blessings, Tammy
ReplyDeleteSounds like he is doing brilliantly at being a big boy. It's a fantastic bed. His comment made me laugh out loud. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteOh Meredith, your little man makes me smile! I'd love to meet him in person on day, so much joy radiating from him. A big boy bed is the best thing ever. I guess all children reach their very own developmental milestones when they are ready and I am sure now that LB is a big boy, the potty training will just fall in place. Wishing you luck xx
ReplyDeleteWow, a special bed for a very special little boy, well, big boy now that he's using his bed.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute bed! And I laughed out loud at his "delighted" comment - what a character he is turning out to be.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute bed! I think it's great he can get in and out on his own! Way to go Mom and Little Buddy! Oh that potty training...good luck!
ReplyDeletehugs!!
That boy and that bed! The cuteness factor is off the scale. And I love his "Mom, I would be delighted" line. He's definitely a keeper!
ReplyDeleteHe looks very pleased with his new bed. He is a 'delight'!
ReplyDeleteWell just how cute is that? "I would be delighted!" That is hilarious! I just love those toddler beds. They make the perfect size for these little ones. Piper is still in hers too, although she's getting pretty tall for it. Mandy keeps saying they need to get her a regular bed, but she loves her little one. I just love this picture of the happiness on his face. You're doing a wonderful job mama!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
Big Boy indeed. Well done you. Jo x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous fun bed, I wish I had one like that. Lucky Little Buddy.
ReplyDeleteAwww.. our boy is growing up. Big stuff to have a big boy bed. How nice for you not to have to lift him in and out of a crib, too! I'm thinking that this move to a grown up boy bed will help him key up to the potty training. He obviously loves this new bed. What a character.. I had to read what he said to the family. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteOMG - Little Buddy IS such a character - I love it! And that bed is wonderful. What fun for him (and you).
ReplyDeleteYay for Mom! and Yay for Little Buddy! Two wins!
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful! That little guy looks so very happy. You do such an incredible job with him, and I just love reading about his progress. Love it. I'm so glad you're sharing this part of your life with us.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Andrea
He sure loves his new bed-isn't it terrific he can come and go independently now as well. That's pretty big!! I love his comment- little kids are so hilarious! Keeps us going!
ReplyDeleteSleep tight! :-)
ReplyDeleteSO happy for the BIG step embraced by lil Buddy.
ReplyDeleteHe is so lucky to have you as his mom, his family!!!
You are a such a special Mom and so good for Buddy-hugs
ReplyDeleteLittle Buddy' s "...delighted to" made me laugh out loud, too, but also encourages me to encourage you, that he would not have said that were he not given the wonderful love that you and yours give him. Keep up the good work...and I am praying "the issue" will very soon be an issue no longer! xxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteLooks like he loves it! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a big move for Buddy and he looks like he's enjoying himself right now. I suppose the test will come at the night time. I've just spotted the toy pig in the back ground too, how cute. Don't be hard on yourself about the independence bit......how many of us are like that. It's a built in thing I think for some mums. Me being one of them. I know my boys were so happy when I stopped trying to hold their hand to cross the road when they were 15yrs old!!!!! lol Just kidding. Enjoy, and hope it is a successful and "delightful" time for you both. xx
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of little Buddy - and for you, too! You can tell he just loves his new bed. That is so precious that what he said to you about the screwdriver. What a sweet little boy.
ReplyDeleteWow, that face says everything. Enjoy your new big boy bed Little Buddy and good luck with the potty training.
ReplyDeleteFlaum....I'm in the same boat, but I REALLY WANT THIS SWEATER! Who knew fisherman rib was such a pain?? Who knew a 'simple' ribbed, cropped sweater could take FOREVER to knit!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! He's so adorable! And what a big step for both of you. :)
ReplyDeleteYay! The big boy bed looks like a success. Such a gorgeously cute grin there on Little Buddy.
