Test crochet for Teresa and some Twiddle Mitt fun......

My dear friend Teresa has a wonderful stitch pattern she uses for blankets.  She wrote up the pattern and asked for testers so I climbed on board.  You can find her pattern here.  This is a wonderful pattern that is easy to memorize.  I decided to make small versions and incorporate them into twiddle mitts for Kathy B.  Helping two blogging friends at once is perfect I'd say.

First, the pattern by Teresa is really simple.  In her directions it is a two row repeat which is really fun and makes a beautiful fabric.  The pattern is in multiples of three and easy to remember.  I made the first mitt in just a few hours.  The second mitt I miscounted, which is not unusual for me, and found out that is works just as well and then actually is just a one row repeat, easy peasy.  I am wondering how it would look in a very fine yarn made with a big hook, a very drapey scarf or shawl.  I  think it would be perfect.

The mitts were made with Vickie Howell Sheepish yarn that has been in my stash forever.  Actually I don't think they make this yarn anymore under this name.   I used a size I hook.  Two mitts made with one skein of yarn so a total of 160 yards.  All the doodads were from my work stuff.  I hope they make someone suffering from alzheimer's or dementia very happy.

Max was peeking at me this morning out the sliding glass door as I attempted to take photos of the mitts in the rain.  It was too dark out so I had to venture inside and take them under artificial light.   My boy is still smiling, that makes me so happy.

For those of you in London, you have my greatest love as you travel through yet another day of senseless violence.  Know that those of us from around the world are on your side.  Most of us American's are with the world even though after this past week and withdraw from a very important agreement, it does not appear that way.  Most of us do not agree with the ridiculous people in charge of our government, know that.

  5. What a lovely stitch pattern and those twiddle mitts will keep some anxious hands very happy. My mum is in the early stages of dementia, not twiddling yet but does like to keep on the go. I always love to see these happy photos of Max on your blog, he's such a gorgeous boy.

  6. Gorgeous texture, no doubt they will be very much appreciated. Glad Max is doing well. We picked up our new puppy today, I am bracing myself a bit, but the boys adore him so no doubt it will all be worth it. I adore him too, but I know it will be hard work. Very disappointing about the decision taken on the climate change agreement, but pretty much what people expected I think. Hope you have a good week Meredith. CJ xx

  9. Lust look at that sweet face. I'm so glad to see Max visiting the blog today. I made a baby Blanket from Teresa's pattern and really liked how it turned out. Easy to memorize a song you said. Love the twiddle mitts too! It's so good to see so many in blog land supporting Kathy and her goal for honoring her Mom.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. Hi Meredith.. thank you so much for testing my pattern! Yours turned out beautifully! You'll have to try it with the Red Heart Unforgettable yarn.. it's so fun to see how the colors work out. Max has such a sweet face and smile! I'm too stressed out for my company coming and our impending BIG DINNER and then a week of traveling and showing them around to commit to a twiddle mitt right now but maybe after we get the next week done and dusted I might. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  11. So nice to make something to help 2 people at the same time!
Love the pattern and the mitts!
Max is such a darling, he is in good hands with you.
The look in his eyes is so sweet. If I could, I'd cuddle him through the picture :-)
And well said, at the end of your blog. I know that the majority of your country doesn't agree with your government. So brave and good of you to speak out for that.
    Have a nice day, Sigrid

  12. Love the twiddle mitts and wonderful to see Teresa's pattern incorporated. It was a little disappointing, but not a surprise to hear that Trump had withdrawn from the treaty. He did say that he would do this before his election so it came as no surprise. Lovely to hear Max is doing well.

  13. Catching up and love the graduation pics of your littlest! Max's expression looks so cute too, peeking around the door. The Twiddle Mitts seem like a great idea! I haven't heard of them before; I don't know how you have time to do all you do for others! Thanks for always taking the time to visit my blog and leave encouraging comments, you are the sweetest!

  14. Beautiful pattern. I love the look of so much crochet, but find it difficult to manage with my bouts of hand arthritis. Knitting is easier--no holding out of the yarn all the time.

Dear Max. Still the picture of serenity.

  17. A lovely pattern, which I would love to try and a great idea to make your samples into twiddle cuffs. I'm sure they will bring pleasure to their recipients. Max is so cute and has such a friendly face even I would be happy to meet him and I'm generally nervous of dogs!

  20. Hi Meredith, Max is so beautiful. I think of him when I think of you and your family, and whenever I think of our Max. It warms my heart to know your is still strong enough to take an interest in your activities and keep an eye on you. I'm certain his dedication and love for you keep him going. What a darling dog he is.

  21. Your twiddle mitts turned out beautifully, so pretty with Teresa's pattern as the base. I am working on a preemie blanket with her pattern and love the design. I'm so glad to see Max's smile. Please give him some love pats from me. xx

  22. What fun to find pretty lilac polish for your toes, and also pretty Crocs to wear when you want to hide your toes 😊 Thanks for sharing the crescent shawl pattern. If I ever finish my Ruby shawl, I would like to try one like this, I think. You will be amazed and proud of me for finishing another row on Ruby while I was camping this week. I think I just have about ten more rows to go, each row a different pattern...but the fun is crocheting even if I have to frog some, too. I hope you get rid of the cold fast and have a good week, Meredith. 🤗
