Getting ready for the weekend........

Hello, my lovely friends.  Any big plans for the weekend?  We here in Florida, and much of the south are expecting lots and lots of rain.  While I feel bad for those who have planned outdoor activities, I have to say I am thrilled.  I love rain, and I especially love it when I can stay inside while it is raining  I can just putter around and knit of course.  Seems I will be starting my Longline Cardigan over again.  I did not seem to think, "And At The Same Time," written in bold in the pattern, actually meant at the same time.  So I failed to decrease stitches at rows 9, 19 and 29 in the pattern.  For some reason I thought it meant at the arm decrease.  Well live and learn my friends.  There are not many things in life you can actually redo, knitting and crochet are perfect for that.  You can't redo arguments, parenting flops, when you lose your patience, or your sanity.  But a knitting redo is easy.

Little Buddy and I ventured to Joann's today after his speech therapy appointment.  I needed some fun projects for the summer for some of the kids I work with.  And while there I found these wonderful smocked fabrics.  My Mother made me a sundress out of something like this when I was young.  She put in straps of course.  I thought these would make great skirts, and I am a true skirt fan in the summer, no shorts for me.  This will be an easy project to do this weekend as the rains tumble from the sky.

The Honda Odyssey van obsession continues at our house.  You can't see it but Little Buddy is holding a matchbox car Honda Odyssey racing van in his hands.  It was a gift from the wonderful PT we are losing.  The drawing above, made by me, was colored in by my little friend.  I met with Little Buddy's rehabilitation doctor yesterday, he also happens to be head of the therapy department where Little Buddy was receiving PT.  We already had an appointment and after determining what Little Buddy's needs were, I talked to him about how upset I was that PT had been canceled.  He really is a lovely man and to his credit he listened to all of my concerns from both a mom, and a therapist's perspective.  I am not sure any changes will be made in the future but at least he listened.  Little Buddy has a new PT evaluation on Tuesday, with a new therapist, at a new facility.

Little Buddy is now officially a first grader, yesterday he got out of school for the summer.

All three little boys continue to grow, two fury boys at an incredibly rapid rate.  They look like fury Muppet's with their crazy hair.  Tomorrow is their 7 month birthday, they have been with us for four months now, but it feels like they have been part of our family much longer than that.  I just adore them both so much.  On Sunday they go for their first grooming appointment, frankly their nails and face fur are getting out of hand.  We need a good trim so they can see.  I also maybe meeting friends on Sunday for lunch and to see the movie Book Club, I think it looks hysterical.  Other than that I am staying home and staying in.  I need to get some rest!

How about you?  Any plans for the long weekend?

  1. Lovely to see buddy and the family dogs. I love little Buddy's drawing too. It's very advanced I think. Maybe he will be an artist. It sounds like you've got your weekend planned. I was hoping to plan mine but am feeling in need of a rest. Though we expect sunny days I think I will just stay home and catch on paperwork here and there, organize digital files, putter, stroll to the store, sit on the patio and read. Enjoy the weekend.

  3. I'm pleased for you to be getting your beloved rain and a 3 day weekend to get some R&R and knit! Your fur boys are getting so big, I look forward to seeing them after their beauty salon visit! :-) ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  4. Have a wonderful time at the movies. You are right. That movie does look funny. I just love the main actresses!

We are spending time with extended family up in Amish country. My step-sister-in-law's mother lives in Ephrata and WE have been invited to join the family for a BBQ. Now THAT is an invite I could not resist.

Being with family is just the BEST!

  5. Longline is a lovely cardigan!

Not a long weekend here (we had ours last weekend), but I'm coming off a week-long vacation, so I plan on doing as little as possible before back to work on Monday.

  6. This morning the Weather Channel Ap alerted me to the first named subtropical storm coming your way :-) I'm glad you are looking forward to the rain. I am still hankering for a bit more sunshine here, but rain or shine we still have lots to do around here. We are racing the interior house painters trying to pack up the rooms before they are ready to paint them! Good progress so far. I just did some little chores today and then Elisabeth, Gary, and I met up at the National Cemetery and left a sprig of red Rhododendrons near Louis' niche. I especially love the photo of LB with a puppy on either side of him :-) :-) :-) xxxxxxx

  7. Our long weekend in Canada was last week and though very hot, it was lovely all around. Hope yours is too this weekend. Sounds like you have great plans, relaxing but with others.

I teach tomorrow, then counselling in the afternoon for grieving families and then gardening as much as we can the rest of the weekend. Rain is in the forecast, which we so greatly need.

    Happy Memorial Day Weekend Meredith!

    X Chy

  8. I enjoyed seeing all of your photos of your little guy and the puppies too. They look like such big loves. I love dogs that size. Big enough to wrap your arms around and give them a big hug. I wonder why little buddy is so enamored of Honda Odyssey‘s? Seems like a strange car for a little boy to be obsessed about doesn’t it? Ha ha! I hope you can get all his therapy squared away. It does seem like a strange thing that they’ve decided he no longer needs PT. I hope you have a wonderful holiday my friend. Lots of knitting time and listening to the rain patter down. Many blessings, Betsy

  11. I love rain too, although the drizzle here today means no cricket which is a shame. But so nice to stay home and not feel I should out going something. Your weekend plans sound wonderful. How big those boys are getting. Bertie had a major trim of his fur yesterday, he feels like velvet now. And he can see where he's going which is good. Enjoy your weekend. CJ xx

  16. Love the photo of LB and the dogs!! I admire you for many things, and one of them is that you will frog a project and start over again. I am a quitter when it comes to most craft projects:( I can't wait to see Book Club!

  17. Hope you have a good weekend! The doggies are enormous now aren't they, obviously very happy with their lives. Glad that all is going well for Buddy too, and I hope the new PT works out well too. xx

You are so right. We can redo knitting and we cannot undo so many other things in life. I love this perspective. Prayers for you on Tuesday for LIl B. The dogs are only making me want a new fur ball in my life.
the weekend went from open and quiet to ridiculously busy. We arent that popular really! It is so wonderful to be off major holidays and get together with people!

I'll email you later if I gat a chance. It is all good.

  20. Oh, send some rain this way, it has been dry. I was hoping for some this morning, but it was just humid. Tomorrow is supposed to be hot AND dry, so I'm glad I got some yardwork done today. No big holiday plans here, but a friend and I are also planning to see Book Club some time soon. My SO and I saw RBG last week - highly recommended!

I think you should send Honda Little Buddy's drawing - they may feature it in their newsletter!

  21. That is the sunniest take on re-knitting I've ever encountered. Good for you! I am way too reluctant to rip and re-knit when I first sense a problem. Thus, I end up ripping and re-knitting a whole lot more than I should.

Very nice drawing! And nicely colored, too.

We are worried about the Florida storms. My daughter flew to Denver for a wedding Friday and needs to return on Monday. She has terrible luck with flying so I won't be shocked if she ends spending some extra time in Denver.

I hope LB find new therapists as good as his current team.

  22. Re-do knitting...yep, thanks to Betsy, we figured out I was using the wrong yarn for slippers I was making for Phil. Will need to find a different pattern. ARG! Congrats to Buddy for progressing to 1st grade and the fur boys are like furry Muppets indeed! Furry Doggie Brothers! Won't be visiting my parent's graves soon as the drive is 2 hr to get there. I make it a day out. Yes, hard to lose friends and family and others suffering. But we enjoyed our family get together for a birthday celebration lunch of our two granddaughters today. Both born in May. Can't believe Melody is 10 already! She's my first grandchild! Hope the storms aren't too bad. I am hoping for a bit of rain as it's been dry here and need to water plants every night. Oh well, at least I enjoy it! Have a blessed weekend!

  23. After a cool, drizzly, grey, overcast, hectic week of appointments and otger activities, the weekend brought a warmish fine Saturday before forecast rain today. The morning was busy with garden jobs and I spent a relaxing afternoon enjoying a local football match (AFL). Today I am pottering with indoor activities that I have been wanting to do for some time such as sewing and catching up with your blog! The extremely busy, hardworking week has caught up with me though so a nap is next on the list. ;-)
Good luck with the transition to the new clinic. I hope it goes smoothly. Changing health providers can be stressful. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome. xxx

  24. It's a three day weekend here in the UK too and though it usually rains when there's a bank holiday, we've got sunshine today. Little Buddy a first grader already, he's growing up so fast, as are Hank and Bear. Enjoy your weekend with some lovely crafty projects.

  25. I envy you the summer rain, we haven't had any for a long long while. And I'd like a lovely painted red Honda as well, I'll drive it to Tahiti with the wind blowing in my hair.

Congrats to 1st grader Little Buddy!
Happy Memorial Day! Hope you get some knitting time & not too much rain.

  30. Always so exciting when kids start their summer vacations. Remember those times well. What type of therapy is he getting? I too am a skirt wearing, far more comfortable and cooler in my opinion then shorts. I wear skirts and dress most of the year when not in leggings I guess. Though the knit fabric in my dresses and skirts aren't currently fitting as well. Must get active again and try to loose some of the puggy middle I've deleloped while sitting due to the broken foot.

  31. Love that LB and pups photo; all 3 are getting so big! Have a wonderful Memorial Day despite the rain. For once it's sunny here and hard to believe that we may be able to eat outside!

  32. You're rainy there in Florida and we're blazingly hot and sunny here in IL! I'm not going to complain about the heat because I'll take the 90's any day over our winter days. I don't like rain, so you can enjoy it for both of us. ;-)

What does Little Buddy do all summer when he's out of school and you're working - is he in some kind of day program? Amazing how big your dogs are, especially for such a young age. They look so sweet and loveable.

We might go see Book Club tonight, too! Have a great holiday, Mere.

This is genius. Thanks for this. It's a Philosophy I Needed.

LB's colouring skills are improving a great deal since you last featured them.
(And I think the pups have grown exponentially since you last featured THEM!) ;-)

  34. I did a lot of planting and watering on the long weekend. I love rain too and right now I am really hoping for some. My plants needs and my body could use the rest.

I hope you are doing well. I love the photos as always.

    Have a great week,
    Andrea

  36. I can't believe he's going into first grade?!? How time flies. I love his Honda obsession. I still have matchbox cars saved from the good old days. They line the window at my cubicle to remind me of the sweetest of days. ~E

  37. Dang that knitting! When a pattern reads like that I have to write the rows out on a pad so that I remember to do them - I have been there done that! We are back from holidays and I have done 6 loads of washing today because I didn't do a weeks worth before we went away what with organising my dads funeral which was all good in the end - people made great compliments of him and of the funeral service. We were all very proud. Have a good week jo xxx
