The Flower Power Dishcloth is now my new favorite dishcloth to make. Don't get me wrong I still like The Almost Lost Dishcloth but Flower Power is faster and a little bit more fun. Again, a big thank you to Heldasland for originally posting the link to this fun little project.
I can whip one of these up in no time at all. I love to play around with the yarn a little to see what fun combinations I can come up with.
This was my original washcloth. I really liked it but after making the ones above I knew it needed a little something more.
A simple single crochet (sc) border in a contrasting color is all it needed to add a little bit of fun. It makes the dishcloth just a tiny bit wider which I like so much. You know me by now I have to tweak a pattern, I just can't help myself.
I am excited to make more this weekend. I have this whole basket of Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn to play with. I think I might be done with this project much faster now. Crochet is faster than knitting that is for sure. I think 15 knitted washcloths is enough for now.
What to do with a very, very tired little boy on a rainy Friday evening? Well make him a place to settle in and watch Elmo on the television. Sometimes the TV is just what is needed to help ease over a bout of super tiredness. I mean this little one goes to school, gets all sorts of therapy there and then comes home and goes to therapy as well. I woke him from a 3 hour nap yesterday, he was sooooooo tired. Sometimes we need a bit of Elmo to make us happy.
Well Elmo and a snuggle.
Today I am planting some Mums, and hanging out outside with Little Buddy before the heat sets in. There is the slightest change in the morning air, yesterday when I headed out for my 6:30 AM walk it was only 72 degrees out. By the afternoon it was 89, but that isn't our regular 92, so that is progress.
Wishing you a wonderful day.
Oops I forgot to wish my Dad a happy birthday tomorrow, he will be 91. He is a handful but we are glad he is still here.

Okay, now you've got me. I'm gonna have to get out some cotton yarn and make ONE (1), just one, of those dishcloths! Are they like potato chips? Nobody can make just one? The ones you've made so far are cute as can be. Can't believe you knitted 15! Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe dishcloths are wonderful, I love the edge it gives it a personality. Little Buddy is certainly a handsome little fella, relaxing in front of the TV.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers look great. There are endless possibilities with this pattern.

It is lovely here this weekend! First touch of Fall. Still more heat to come, but it will be less and less now. Happy Birthday to Dad! And a hug and kiss to Little Buddy!!!

Ooh Happy a Birthday Mere's Dad ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your washcloths, so pretty :)
I can't believe it's still so warm over there, the Florida sun seems like a very long time ago now. It's been dry and not too cold here, but a bit warmer wouldn't hurt either!

The dish clothes are so joyous looking. Just right for a tired little boy, he looks happy.
ReplyDeleteLove the dish cloths Meredith, you can really play around with all the lovely colours you have and come up with some pretty combinations. Little Buddy looks snug and cosy watching TV bless him. :) xxx
ReplyDeleteI love those dishcloths. I bet you can whip those up in no time. I love Elmo! Our morning temp is about 77 but the afternoons are still above 100. Once we can get the afternoon temps down, it will be nice. Have a great weekend, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI love that flower dishcloth pattern. I haven't made any in a while, but I remember I couldn't stop at just one! Good way to use up all that cotton yarn in the stash.
ReplyDeleteThe flower power dishcloths are unbelievable!!! They are so cute and fun!!! I would use those as decorations in my girls' room they are so sweet!! As is Little Buddy!! Yep a cuddle and a fun program does wonders!! Enjoy the start of fall friend!
ReplyDeleteThese dishcloths look fantastic, such lovely colours too.
ReplyDeleteI think some TV is absolutely fine for kids, we used to enjoy watching kids programmes together when my lot were small - and they seemed to have turned out just fine!

Hi Meredith.. you are on a washcloth roll, my friend!! I wish I could join LB cuddling in a soft chair with a big teddy bear on my head. What a lucky little dude. You would have loved where we went yesterday.. :-) Now we're off to a wool and yarn festival..

ReplyDeleteHi Meredith,
ReplyDeleteI was just about to shut the computer down and go to bed, when I caught sight of your latest dishcloths, so I just had to stay up a bit longer and read it!!!! ;)
Ooh, I love it, you have been playing with the design! So brilliant!!! Which just goes to show that you can do one thing lots of times and it doesn't have to get boring!!

ReplyDeleteThe new little dishcloth is very cute. I love how you added the contrasting edge.
ReplyDeleteI printed out the "almost lost" pattern. I think I'll be making them for gifts at Christmas.
Thanks for suggesting the pattern.
Great picture of your little Buddy. He looks quite content there. Piper loves Elmo too but she calls him "Elmore"! Love the dishcloths with the contrasting edging. Have a lovely Sunday my friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I love the new washcloths. Crochet is more fun I think. Just how many do you need to make!?
ReplyDeleteLittle Buddy looks so cute there. You're right. a cozy blanket and a good show is just what's needed sometimes. Even for the grown ups.
I can't believe the heat. We had 26F yesterday which is warm enough for me.
I absolutely love your passion for your latest projects and the speed at which you create them. I can totally relate to your all or nothing philosophy.
ReplyDeleteThe wee one is doing so well especially as he really has a full time job between school and therapies. A big snuggle with the teddy and some comfort tv sound just the very dab for a tired boy and his mum too.
Do you think I can make ONE flower dishcloth? Hugs to you. Regula
ReplyDeleteHello, queen of all washcloths ;-)!
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge collection you must have by now!
Little buddy and his bear are so cute... You are right, sometimes tv is so handy for tired children ( and grown ups too....).
Lots of love from Mirjam.
Very beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteBuddy <3!
Happy week.:*
Love the dishcloths. They just make me smile.
ReplyDeleteSo does that cutie pie of yours watching Elmo. :-)

Wow, you're a washcloth crocheting machine! I think 15 should be plenty for now, but don't let that stop you. :) My kids have both loved Elmo and my daughter still enjoys him at six years old. He's an enduring friend. :)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't the world be less wonderful without Elmo. My kids loved him too :)
ReplyDeleteYour Flower Power dishcloths are amazing and the borders in contrasting colors are so attractive, I am in love with them... I am so happy to see LB after such a long time...
ReplyDeleteLove,
Sabrina
Awww Lil Buddy looks so squishy. I want to squeeze that boy. Glad he was able to rest and relax.
ReplyDeleteI love mums.
Happy Happy to your father. wow 91. Impressive.
Bonjour Meryknits. You did a lot of discloths! The flowers are beautiful and I agree with you, the border add something cute and funny.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week!
Mere, how do you do it all? Seriously, I think you need to have little relaxing spot and watch some Elmo! Your crochet flowers are pretty and bursting with such happy color. They "feel" bright and happy, like you!
ReplyDeleteMeredith after seeing your post about making that flower dishcloths I decided to try one. I wasn't successful. I think I get confused in the rounds trying to see where I originally started the round. Maybe I was just having one of those days. I am working on a new baby blanket in a granny stripe and so far so good. Your dishcloths are so cheerful! I can see why they make you happy. I also agree that crocheting is faster than knitting.....for me anyway. Glad it is cooling down there ....if ever so slightly. Happy Birthday to your dad!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Patti
The dishcloths are such fun! Little Buddy is so cute--he is much more adorable than I am when I'm in need of a nap........:)
ReplyDeleteThe dishcloths are beautiful! They are so bright and cheerful :) bless Little Buddy he looks so cute and tired! he must get tired with such a busy routine xx
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your dad - mine is 86 going on 16. Love your dishcloths. Would you recommend the sugar 'n' cream cotton?
