Flower Power Baby!!!

The Flower Power Dishcloth is now my new favorite dishcloth to make.  Don't get me wrong I still like The Almost Lost Dishcloth but Flower Power is faster and a little bit more fun. Again, a big thank you to Heldasland for originally posting the link to this fun little project.

I can whip one of these up in no time at all.  I love to play around with the yarn a little to see what fun combinations I can come up with.

This was my original washcloth.  I really liked it but after making the ones above I knew it needed a little something more.

A simple single crochet (sc) border in a contrasting color is all it needed to add a little bit of fun.  It makes the dishcloth just a tiny bit wider which I like so much.  You know me by now I have to tweak a pattern, I just can't help myself.

I am excited to make more this weekend.  I have this whole basket of Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn to play with.  I think I might be done with this project much faster now.  Crochet is faster than knitting that is for sure. I think 15 knitted washcloths is enough for now.

What to do with a very, very tired little boy on a rainy Friday evening?  Well make him a place to settle in and watch Elmo on the television.  Sometimes the TV is just what is needed to help ease over a bout of super tiredness.  I mean this little one goes to school, gets all sorts of therapy there and then comes home and goes to therapy as well.  I woke him from a 3 hour nap yesterday, he was sooooooo tired.  Sometimes we need a bit of Elmo to make us happy.

Well Elmo and a snuggle.

Today I am planting some Mums, and hanging out outside with Little Buddy before the heat sets in.  There is the slightest change in the morning air, yesterday when I headed out for my 6:30 AM walk it was only 72 degrees out.  By the afternoon it was 89, but that isn't our regular 92, so that is progress.

Wishing you a wonderful day.

Oops I forgot to wish my Dad a happy birthday tomorrow, he will be 91.  He is a handful but we are glad he is still here.

  1. Okay, now you've got me. I'm gonna have to get out some cotton yarn and make ONE (1), just one, of those dishcloths! Are they like potato chips? Nobody can make just one? The ones you've made so far are cute as can be. Can't believe you knitted 15! Have a good weekend.

Love your washcloths, so pretty :)
I can't believe it's still so warm over there, the Florida sun seems like a very long time ago now. It's been dry and not too cold here, but a bit warmer wouldn't hurt either!

  25. The new little dishcloth is very cute. I love how you added the contrasting edge.

I printed out the "almost lost" pattern. I think I'll be making them for gifts at Christmas.

    Thanks for suggesting the pattern.

  27. I love the new washcloths. Crochet is more fun I think. Just how many do you need to make!?
Little Buddy looks so cute there. You're right. a cozy blanket and a good show is just what's needed sometimes. Even for the grown ups.
I can't believe the heat. We had 26F yesterday which is warm enough for me.

  28. I absolutely love your passion for your latest projects and the speed at which you create them. I can totally relate to your all or nothing philosophy.
The wee one is doing so well especially as he really has a full time job between school and therapies. A big snuggle with the teddy and some comfort tv sound just the very dab for a tired boy and his mum too.

  33. Wow, you're a washcloth crocheting machine! I think 15 should be plenty for now, but don't let that stop you. :) My kids have both loved Elmo and my daughter still enjoys him at six years old. He's an enduring friend. :)

  38. Mere, how do you do it all? Seriously, I think you need to have little relaxing spot and watch some Elmo! Your crochet flowers are pretty and bursting with such happy color. They "feel" bright and happy, like you!

  39. Meredith after seeing your post about making that flower dishcloths I decided to try one. I wasn't successful. I think I get confused in the rounds trying to see where I originally started the round. Maybe I was just having one of those days. I am working on a new baby blanket in a granny stripe and so far so good. Your dishcloths are so cheerful! I can see why they make you happy. I also agree that crocheting is faster than knitting.....for me anyway. Glad it is cooling down there ....if ever so slightly. Happy Birthday to your dad!
    Hugs, Patti
