The other night I was in bed looking at Ravelry on my iPad and I decided to show my husband my Kiribati sweater on the Berroco Kiribati page. This was our conversation, are you ready?
Me - Hey honey look at this, my sweater is on Ravelry on this Berroco site.
Husband- What is Ravelry?
Me- It is a knitting and crocheting community.
Husband- A what?
Me- It doesn't matter, they asked to feature my sweater on their site, do you want to see?
Husband- You made that?
Me- Yes, and look here, this designer Melinda Miller asked if she could use the photos of my blankets on her site on Ravelry!
And I precede to show him these photos of the Crazy Granny Square Blankets.
Husband- You made those blankets? I don't remember those. Who is that one for?
Me- That baby blanket was for Johnny and Becky's baby (his nephew by the way) and you mailed it to them.
Husband- I don't remember that one, you made that?
Me- Yes it is in our family room.
Husband- Right now?
Me- Yes, on the sofa.
Husband- Really?
Ah husbands you got to love them........
Husbands, no matter how many times you show them what you are making, you just know their eyes have glassed over and they haven't taken in a word you have said.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds terribly familiar ... ;-)
ReplyDeleteThey have 'selective' memory!
ReplyDeleteYes, as soon as knitting or crochet is mentioned, you know you've lost them. Its a bit like me when he mentions soccer. Very funny post :)
ReplyDeleteCan I tell you how many times my husband says, "you never told me that", when I know for SURE that I DID! :::rolling my eyes:::
ReplyDeleteYou do lovely projects . . . even if the boys don't notice, we DO!
So familiar! Really makes me wonder what they do notice.
ReplyDeleteEyes they have, but they see not....
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being splashed around the web - in a GOOD way! :)
Sounds like a typical hubby! LOL
ReplyDeleteJudy
This made me laugh! I guess this means he probably hasn't noticed your stash either. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo typical! But we love them anyway:)
ReplyDeleteHa!!! You had me rolling with this one!!! I can just picture it!!! Your work is so beautiful buddy! Everything you create just knocks me over! I am so proud of you for being recognized for your talents!!! Cheers to husbands!!! Nicole xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious! I guess you need to show him your stuff more often? LOL! Dayle is pretty in tune with my stuff as he helps me by holding the skeins while I roll balls and I make him feel and look at my projects as I work on them. Of course mine doesn't crochet cute things like Alicia Paulson's husband does! Maybe I need to teach Dayle to crochet? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds familiar, hah. Beautiful blankets.
ReplyDeleteLOL SO Typical male! Beautiful blankets.
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny....very pretty blankets, btw.-
ReplyDeletePatti
Really does sound familiar, rest assured we notice.
ReplyDeleteOh Mere, this made me laugh!!! :)) So glad you share your lovely works here with us, we sure do appreciate them!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!!!
Ingrid xx

Lol I have one of those too! To be fair I guess I am the same with his mountain biking stuff x
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny Meredith, you could have written down a conversation between my husband and I. Hugs to you. xx
ReplyDeleteI think I'm married to his twin brother!
ReplyDeleteSame here :-), apparently they are indeed from another planet ...
ReplyDeleteGood to hear there are more of those creatures ;-)!
Lots of love from Mirjam.
Gotta love them!!!
ReplyDeletexoxoxoxoxRobin
Hahaha!! Well, at least you know he appreciates your work, even if it is after the fact! =D
ReplyDeleteIt's like they missed out on receiving an "observation gene" or something! Oh so familiar and oh soooooo true!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHugs always
Beth
Aw Meredith they are all the same they haven't got a clue, at least he listened to you and made some kind of comment . Congratulations on getting your work featured that blanket is still on my to do list. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny!!! and "been there done that" :)
ReplyDeleteLOL :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations my dear friend, job well done. Your work is amazing.
Carla
Sounds familiar!
ReplyDeleteHonestly what are they like. I remember Andy asking me when I was making the elsie shawl from a diagram picture on the laptop. "Do you actually understand that?" Yes I said but I don't understand your wiring diagrams for work! Jo x
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny Meredith! They never notice how their clean socks and underwear "magically" appear back in the dresser drawer either.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's good to fly under the radar (like when you come home with new yarn).
I think your hubbie is related to mine.
ReplyDeleteYour recounted conversation with you hubby prompted me to laugh, too, Mere...but should you want him to not notice a project, or keep it a secret, I think you can depend on him :) xx
ReplyDeleteFireman is pretty good about knitting things.....like stitch markers, swifts and needles. I will ask him to recall 3 things I've knit today...just for fun!
ReplyDeleteYour blankets are so beautiful
Hehe, but at least he sounds impressed xx
ReplyDeleteYour conversation with your husband was so funny, I have had many of those types with mine and I ask myself who is this guy I am married to? LOL
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Oh, Meredith, I laughed out loud! In a coffee shop!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine having the same discussion with my husband.
Yep, you gotta love them!
LOL! Yep, that's about right!
ReplyDeleteHa-ha! Yes indeed. Not a clue. It's universal. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! This is YOUR husband right? He lives with you and everything? Excellent story, and I'm sure not too unique in the world of your crafting pals. xoxo
