It was a very busy week here at my house, and a very special one, too. Can you guess what time of year it is? Someone very special is 4!!!!
Yup, Little Buddy had his birthday this week and boy did he have fun. He LOVES to open presents and is getting quite good at it. He told me we had to go to the fireplace to open presents because that is where Santa comes to give presents. Well he might have his holidays a bit mixed up but he got presents all the same.
Nothing like a few very simple presents to make a little boy happy, well that and a cupcake. He is very proud to be four and holds four fingers up just to show you how big he is. I told him there is a lot of responsibility to being four, you have to do your business in the big boy potty, you have to wear big boy underpants, you have to stand up all by yourself, you have to walk with your canes more, and you have to learn to make a square and a letter or two. Maybe even count to 50, he can count to 30 already. No more just goofing off like you did when you were 3!
To make the week even better today is his adoption day! One year ago today we legally welcomed this sweet boy into our family. He is ours forever whether he likes it or not! Right now he appears to like it, but when he grows up who knows, I mean we are going to be really old and embarrassing.

A very happy birthday with lots of hugs to Little Buddy! He has grown so much in this last year. I agree that life gets serious when you turn 4! And old, embarrassing parents are the best!

Isn't that our job as parents?
ReplyDeleteWe loved our children when they were messy, drooly and embarrassing. It's only fair that we get the same love when WE are old, messy, drooly and EMBARRASSING!

Happy Birthday little guy! He is really serious about opening those gifts isn't he? There is a lot of responsibility to turning 4 and you outlined those well for him. What a blessing it was when you adopted him...for all of you. I just love his precious face.
ReplyDeleteBlessings dear Meredith,
Betsy
So sweet. You are all so lucky to have each other.
ReplyDeleteYou'll never be old and embarrassing. You're a star. When we were at the hot springs pool last year I showed the little boys how I could stand on my hands in the water with my feet sticking out. Dayle said Hayden yelled to all the other little kids.. "LOOK AT MY AMAZING GRANDMA!" I've never been so pleased. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
