Today Little Buddy and I met my friend Cathy for a little adventure. My very favorite yarn store, Criativity in Largo Florida was having their Third Anniversary Event. As the owner has an actual alpaca farm there were two very special visitors at the event. You know I can not control myself around alpacas or sheep, I just love them and I am hoping to instill my love for them in Little Buddy. Although to be honest he was more interested in the fence they were in, and that they had a fan in their pen then the actual alpacas themselves. Are you ready for some cute alpaca photos?
Little One had a fine time looking at these two, and frankly two was enough for him although I would love to go to the actual ranch sometime soon. You can find the information for the farm here at this link Luna Bella Alpaca Ranch. He did not enjoy the yarn store quite as much as playing with the fence, he bossed me around telling me not to walk slow, walk faster, stop and to go this way! Lord, he is the biggest boss ever! All the lovely ladies in the yarn store thought he was hysterical. I carried him on my hip all over the store and back again, let me just tell you this boy is gaining weight!
Do you like his hair cut? I took him to Great Clips to get it cut this past weekend between headaches. He was a doll, sat as perfect as could be, turned his head when asked, and behaved beautifully. It was done in 12 minutes! That is right, 12 minutes! It takes me two days, and is such an issue with all the crying and head turning and thrashing about, not to mention the clean up which includes hosing down his high chair. I. Will. Never. Cut. His. Hair. Again!

Back to today, the yarn store was having a bit of a sale and I picked a 20% off coupon out of a bag, so I had to buy yarn, right? I mean when do you get to buy Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine yarn on sale? I have not gone crazy in the yarn buying department just buying some this past month after taking a full eight months off , and remember I am only buying if I have a specific project in mind. I am thinking about making Flaum with this yarn, but now that I am looking at it I might need one more skein. This might be the best ever go to sweater. That is two sweaters in this brand of yarn I have planned for the near future. The other sweater is Lily, but I just may rethink that one. Flaum looks like it might be fun in a wide variety of colors including the raspberry bought for Lily. Hmmmm... I will have to think more on that one.
I also bought one more skein of Berroco Modern Cotton, just like I had for the baby blanket I just finished. You see while making the blanket I panicked that the crochet was eating up the yarn at a rapid rate and I was going to run out of yarn, so I went and bought one more skein of each color. Funny thing is the blanket was finished with less yarn than I had originally planned for it, I had three skeins leftover, two of cream and one gray. I felt if I added to that amount I could make a nice drapey tank top to wear over a T-shirt, in wide stripes of course. Remember the yarn was on sale so I could hardly pass it up!!!!
I will leave you with this darling face, and a special thanks for your positive responses to my baby blanket. It will be placed in the post on Monday. I hope the soon-to-be parents will like it.
Also thank you for your genuine concern about my headaches. You are all right I need to slow down, but that is not happening anytime soon. I am looking into the cause and think I am making progress. We will see soon. I have talked to my doctor who is a brilliant woman and also my neighbor. We are going to try some medication but the thing is I have to get a migraine during office hours so I can go get a shot and she can monitor my response to the medication. Hard to do when you get so many during the weekend and in the early evening. I went to my acupuncturist and she has helped me so much. I have now been headache free for five whole days. My vision is still a bit funny but it is clearing up. All will be back in balance soon. Thanks you all for your kindness and support.
Hope you are having a wonderful day.

By coincidence, I was stroking alpacas today as well. They are so soft and look so cute. Love the yarn you bought, what a bargain. Good to see you out and about, I hope this means that your headaches have all passed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetie! We just see the happy pics so of course can't believe he would ever cause trouble!
ReplyDeleteI love the grey yarn and it will be perfect for Flaum. It's pretty.
I do hope the headache relief continues.
Love you sister. And that darling nephew of mine, too! LOVE the alpacas!

Oh that looks like a lovely trip to the alpaca farm and yarn store. I'm laughing the bossiness too, your dear little man sounds so funny. Fabulous yarn, so gloriously silky looking. Enjoy your Sunday, and try and take it easy when you can. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteSweet photos! Love the yarn you bought. It looks so squishy!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and hope the headaches STAY gone.
I'm so glad your headaches are gone for 5 days now! It's so funny we were both loving on alpacas today! I met up with Taci, Kathy from "Running with Rocket" and Becky from "GrandmaBeckyL" at the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival. I got something today that soOOooo reminded me of you.. you'll see it on my next blog post. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to beat an alpaca in cuteness but lil buddy beats all !!!!! I love his bossy rude! So happy you have a good doc
ReplyDeleteLove love love the yarns. Light to blues are heavenly!
There is something irresistable about alpacas. I love them, too!
ReplyDeleteLB is even cuter. He has such a great personality!
Slowing down is easier said than done. I swore this year I wasn't going to work more than 9 hours per day -- well, three weeks into the school year, I am a total failure! I hope things will settle down soon. And that you stay headache free!
Oh Meredith, I am SO glad your headaches have been gone for a few days. I have been praying for you, and oh those alpacas. They are just so cute. I drive past an alpaca farm every time I go to the lake and I always want to stop and pet them. :-). Fun times at the yarn store. Your choices are perfect! Did Little Buddy help you chose or just tell you to keep moving?? I hope you have another wonderful day tomorrow. Headache free.
ReplyDeleteBlessings always,
Betsy
Adorable alpacas, lovely yarn, sweet boy [even if he bosses the speed of your yarn shopping :) ], and some progress on eliminating the migraines makes this a satisfying post to read, Meredith. I had a wonderful day camping, although now I am fighting off a cold that half our household has been sharing...some time to rest at home and craft some more perhaps. xx
ReplyDeleteAlthough alpacas are indeed right up there in the cute department, Buddy is still the outright winner. His little face just makes me smile, bless him! Stunning yarn and even better when you have a coupon. So glad you are started to get these headaches sorted, you do need to look after yourself. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling Janet and myself must have been stroking the same Alpaca's at Yarndale, I have a lovely photo to show you Meredith and I indulged in new yarn too, your's is lovely and I can't wait to see what you finally decide to make with it. Little Buddies hair looks great! one job less for you to do, I hope you get those headaches sorted soon. Have a great Sunday. xx
ReplyDeleteThey have the sweetest little faces!
ReplyDeleteHope you are able to figure out what triggers the migraines. When we first took Yusef to college, we visited an alpaca farm in New Mexico and had so much fun. They are just so cute. We even got a quick lesson on them which was very interesting, but if you tested me now, I'd not remember a thing. Little Buddy is a hoot! He's asserting himself for sure. Have fun with your new yarn.
ReplyDeleteP.S. 12 minutes versus 2 days :) getting someone else to give him a haircut is a very good idea.
ReplyDeleteAlpacas are adorable but I never knew that until now. I have fallen for these adorable little guys. Little Buddy is all boy isn't he! Tiger will sit still for a haircut from someone other then his parents also and so it's worth the trip and the $$. Love the yarn you bought and yes of course you had to buy some, it was on sale!! Glad your headaches are better and you are hoping to find the answer to why. I had migraines a few times and they are not fun. Right now I'm just fatigued, but that is just life I think!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
What sweet little crias, and it's always lovely to see Little Buddy's smile. Needless to say, your yarn haul made me smile too... it's all just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSorry to read you've been struggling with migraines, I know just how debilitating they can be. Hope you feel loads better soon,
hugs xx
He's so cute! I think it's funny that he was so interested in the fence and the fan inside the pen. My son was exactly the same way when he was little. He would have zeroed in on the fan too, and if there had been any visible electrical outlets or plugs, he would have lost his mind over them. That was his "thing" when he was a toddler. Little weirdo. :) I hope your headaches subside soon. Take care and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute! I just want to kiss them on their fuzzy noses. One stole my ice cream at a petting zoo once, and I was remember feeling glad that he got to have it. Love the color of that yarn.
ReplyDeleteThat little precious boy is so cute. Love his haircut. The llamas are just darling - are they babies? They look small.
ReplyDeleteGlad your headache is better. Try to take it easy.
Judy
Sorry - alpacas - not llamas.
ReplyDeleteJudy
Lovely alpacas! I get terrible migraines too. I hope yours get better.hugs. Fay
ReplyDeleteAwesome haircut on Buddy!!
ReplyDeleteAnd YES!! I love alpaca as well!!!
We stayed on an alpaca farm which was also a B&B several years ago and they guy almost talked me into buying an alpaca, but leave her at their farm and they would feed her and care for her. I was counting my lucky stars that they didn't take credit cards back then :-}}}
Hope you feel better!!
Can't decide who's cuter - the alpacas or Little Buddy. Love the baby blanket that you showed in the last post. Glad to hear that you are headache-free now.
ReplyDeleteI hope your headaches continue to get better. I love all those beautiful alpacas, and Little B looks super smart!! xo
ReplyDeletePoor you headaches, boohoo,I suffer with them myself, so I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness lil bud looks so handsome. Well done on the yarn buying I trying desperately and failing I might add to stop buying any more yarn. However this morning the postman delivered me so yarn.
Lots of love
H
WE went camping this past weekend and there were 2 alpacas at the camp site. They looked so funny - such characters. You did really well with your yarn purchases and I'm looking forward to seeing what you make. I'd also be interested to hear how your migraine treatment works out.
ReplyDeleteHi Meredith! Just dropped by to catch up with your blog since I've been absent for a while. Your baby blanket is beautiful, and the yarn is perfect. I love the Alpacas, they are so cute!, as is that little boy of yours. Hope your headaches stay away and you get some relief. I used to get migraines, but haven't had any since my hormones got straightened out.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week!
Omg little buddy is so adorable!!!! And so are the cute alpacas. After seeing them who can leave without yarn. Besides you didn't buy too much at all my dear friend. I'm sorry I have been gone. I went to Brazil, took the beautiful hats with me ... But after I came back I'm still suffering with my shoulder. Doing lots of acupuncture( like you it's helping with pain but not movement), doing PT and too many des appointmtns. My daughter just started college and my son is a senior ( so we are doing it all over again). Unfortunately writing is. It so easy for me his days, but it will try to stop by here more often. Miss you and hope your headaches get better real soon. Lots of hugs and love to you .
ReplyDeleteMeredith- I swear he's the cutest thing ever-- I bet he loved the alpacas--,his sweet smile warms my heart.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yarn-- you will make something amazing - as always.
The haircut story is precious....
Vicki
So cute, animals and the LB! I love that he was so good for his haircut. Yeah, Mom, if you have the means, I say let someone else get it done in 12 mins and reclaim your sanity and time. ;) I'd been eyeing the Flaum and was excited to see the different body types wearing the FO. Maybe I could wear it too?!? I can't wait to see you knit it up. Lots of lovely yarn :)
ReplyDeleteAlpacas are adorable aren't they? Typical that you take a child to see something and they are more interested in something completely different! Hope you ,an age to get your headaches sorted soon, it's so frustrating when you have so much to do and yet with a headache you just can't operate. Happy knitting!
ReplyDeleteCaz xx
Oh, these alpacas are such darlings. And the yarn you bought is wonderful, makes my fingers tingle:-)

I adore alpacas, and sheep, too! When I was growing up, I had a friend in 4H and she raised sheep each year. Loved going over in the spring and seeing all those baby lambs.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day, Meredith!
such cute photos of your little guy ♥
ReplyDeleteglad you're feeling better!
