Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween from Harry Potter and me!  A more perfect Harry Potter I have never seen. Little Buddy is on book two of the series and is loving them so it was only appropriate that he was Harry Potter this year for Halloween.  His new school, while still having many issues and teaching him far below his ability level, at least celebrates Halloween.  The school has a parade and a party, a party I will get to attend and help with this year. Then tonight biggest brother, who turns 29 today, will take this one out trick or treating.  What a day!

I am sorry I have been out of contact.  I had some pretty major pelvic floor surgery on October 21.  It was far more brutal than I had imagined with many mistakes and missteps along the way. My surgeon was wonderful, kind and compassionate, but everything that happened afterward was a big problem including an overnight stay that was never supposed to happen, excessive bleeding, three catheters, no food for over 38 hours, and last but not least a UTI that occurred last Monday that left me crying on my bed.  When I notified the surgeon's  office they never called in an antibiotic until 22 hours later, thank God my general practitioner called one in right away. When the surgeons office finally called the medication in it was for one I am seriously allergic to that would cause respiratory distress.  It has taken me much longer to recover due to all of this but I am on my way.  Saturday I finally felt like a human being again, but did a bit too much so yesterday I was down again.  Today I am feeling better so we will see what tomorrow brings.  I have not worked yet as you can imagine, no lifting anything until I see my doctor on Thursday.  I plan to have a nice long chat with her about all that has happened, especially as most of it has been an issue with her office not with her.  Still through all of this, and I it has been very difficult, I have had my son's and their partners here taking care of me, my dear friend and babysitter stayed the night with my dogs Friday night, and was here Saturday morning and evening, and Monday evening to take care of me.  I had a wonderful friend take me to the surgery and walked the halls with me hoping I could get things moving so I could go home.  I have had so many calls from my sister and friends checking in on me sometimes two or three times a day, letting me cry, feel sorry for myself, and to see if I needed anything. It has been rough, especially with legal issues to deal with before the surgery that left me sleepless and depleted even before I headed into the procedure.  Of course those have followed after the surgery as well which has not helped my recovery.  Even with all this I am grateful for my healing, for my family and friends, and for all the blessings in my life.

Take care my friends and Happy Halloween.

Really glad Mere to see you are on the mend and so sorry to read about all the mishaps to get to where you are now. I hope the healing will all be up hill from now on. Actually I am absent from my blog due to health problems at present and have two ops pending. I feel so exhausted it is all taking so long to get sorted. Little Buddy looks great in his Harry Potter outfit it really suits him. He could be Harry,s lookalike for sure. Take care. Amanda xx

Oh Mere...your life has been way too topsy turvey lately! When I read about your surgery and complications, I actually said, "Oh my God!!" out loud. By any chance, did you have a bladder lift? Two and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with a cystocele - a prolapsed bladder. I went to a pelvic floor physical therapist for months and she was my angel. This woman was so dedicated to helping me; I will be forever grateful to her. She even accompanied me to my urologist appt! And this was during Covid when no one else was supposed to accompany a patient into the room. She actually called and advocated for why she wanted to be there with me. Anyhoo, I am glad to say that I'm still doing OK for now. I still do the exercises all the time at home. I don't know if I'll be ok "forever" or if things will get worse some day and I'll have to have surgery, but I sure hope not. I am SO sorry you are going through all this pain and hassle.

On a good note, you have the best boys and their partners, too. They have stuck by you and helped you when you needed them. And your 29 year old coming over to take Little Buddy (adorable Harry Potter!) trick-or-treating is priceless. Sending you much love and healing thoughts and prayers. xoxo

I'm so sorry you have been through such a horrible time. I hope you feel so much better soon, although I'm sure it's difficult for you to get the rest you need.
And Harry Potter! He looks amazing! Isn't it such a joy to find books that engage and bring joy to your children! I have wonderful memories of reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder series to my daughter as she "grew up" with Laura. She devoured the Harry Potter series, too...And still loves reading at age 33.

That is indeed a perfect Harry Potter, I hope he had a lovely evening with his big brother. So sorry you have had such a difficult time. It is hard enough to have a surgery, let alone a whole load of stress and problems. I am sending you my very best and hugs and good energy for a swift recovery. Try and take it a bit easy if you can, you always work so very hard. I know you are very busy, but remember to look after you. All the hugs, CJ xx

So sorry you went through all that! It's truly difficult to monitor your healthcare when you're so sick from that healthcare. I'm so glad you kept on top of it despite the missteps. Take it easy and give yourself time to heal.

Your local Harry Potter looks handsome and thankful he makes you a bit happy and possibly helpful. Sorry you had to go through a hard time after surgery but hopefully you will recover soon. I am glad you have some generous people helping you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am still trying to find a few knitting patterns that I've had for a few years. Not sure where I put them. A bit annoying for sure! I plan to get a bit of sewing done as well since my sewing machine is working again! God bless and sleep well, Mere!!

Oh, my good golly...what a time you have had! I am so sorry to hear it and can commiserate because I had a minor bladder procedure several years ago that pretty much went the same way. They also called in the wrong antibiotic which ended up with me having to go to urgent care to get the right one when I was in so much pain I could barely stand up. I hope you are on the mend soon.

so glad you are feeling better. Please take care of yourself and make sure you are completely better before returning to work. Thank God you have wonderful sons and friends to take care of you. I don't comment very often but often think of you and ask God to take care of you because I have known what it is like to be a single parent.
I have often thought of people who say they have face book and instagram friends but never could get it, because those are not the people who will be there when you really need help. Thank God for the people that are there to help you now.

Glad your surgery ordeal is past and you can heal now. When it rains it pours, doesn't it? Please take care of yourself - you are such a good person, good Mom, and good therapist. We're all rooting for you - Wanted to mention that my city has awful healthcare with 2 hospitals: one typically receives low accreditation scores; the other is better but was once part of HCA (Rick Scott's Medicare fraud scandal) so I go to either Shands or Mayo Jacksonville for serious issues. They both are top-of-the-line and surprisingly accommodating for all insurance and for out-of-town patients. Take care and thanks for the Little Buddy picture.

He makes a terrific Harry Potter. He is doing well to be able to read those Harry Potter books! My granddaughters just loved all of those books and even went to see the Harry Potter world at Universal Studios. That might be a fun reward for Little Buddy when he finishes all of the books in the future!
Sorry for all of your troubles and hope you will be able to put them behind you and have clear sailing from now on! Wishing you the best!

What a scary time. I hope you continue to heal and the issues you encountered will have been addressed and resolved to your satisfaction. Navigating health care is a whole journey in itself. I'm glad you feel well enough to address the issues yourself. Your Harry Potter was a dead ringer! I hope he had a blast. Thank goodness for all the friends and family near to support you then and as you need them. You are so rich to have people so dedicated to helping you get better. Take it easy. Thanks for an update.

Hello Dear Meredith:
LB makes the most handsome little Harry Potter. Piper was Hermione last year. We should match them up! :-)
I am so, so sorry about your surgery. I have been praying for you but I didn't know about all of this. I sure hope your life becomes less crazy and more peaceful for you all now. I am so grateful for the support you have with family and friends. You need it now and you deserve it too with all that you do for others.
Much love and blessings my dear friend.

Dear Meredith, I'm so sorry to hear about the very, very horrible-sounding times you've been having with the surgery and its aftermath - hoping that you feel much better very soon and am so glad that you have wonderful family and friends around you to help. LB is a perfect Harry Potter!! I hope he had a super-duper, tip-top time out trick or treating with his brother. sending you lots of love xoxox

Oh, Meredith! What an ordeal. I'm terribly sorry that you had such an overwhelming time of it all. So much of our medical care is out of our doctor's hands that it's frightening. What a travesty it all is.

I'm glad that you have such a good support system to help you. That speaks well of you; they all know you'd be there for them as well (or have been already).

Your son is growing by the minute it seems. His costume is terrific. It's good that he has some great memories of this time.

Take care with your recovery. Try to be patient.

Oh Mere, no one deserves that kind of treatment and that many snafus with something so major -- and so scary -- as pelvic surgery. Claudia filled us in a bit but I'm very glad to hear from you and especially glad to hear that you have had good support from family and friends. It sounds absolutely frightening. I hope you don't have to return to work too soon and that when you do you can take it easy and more gently. I know that's not always possible but that's my hope for you.

Tell Little Buddy he is worlds BEST Harry Potter! He looks terrific and what a great character to be!

Sending loads of love and healing wishes.
