Thanks

These are for you.  I want you all to take this gift from the Gulf of Mexico for all your extraordinary comments and positive thoughts regarding my son's situation.
I picked these up on my walk on the beach....aren't they spectacular?  The sea provides us with so many gifts.  And you my dear blog friends provide me with even more.  I never thought when I went for my walk to clear my head, that I would find the most therapy from all of you.  You comments have brought tears to my eyes, thank you for your honesty and your wonderful thoughts.
We are so, so lucky.  My sons are healthy, we have a home with food and water.  We aren't worried about a tsunami and radiation exposure.  My sons are home right now on spring break, sleeping, safely.  This is a bump in the road for my oldest, and one that I know will make him stronger.  He will come out on top because I think the Universe acts that way.  And you are right something needs to be done about the coach and we are thinking about it.  But for now I am thinking about the best place for my son to swim and blossom under positive coaching.  And I am thinking about how truly lucky I am to have all of you out there in blog land, caring.

HI MERIDITH,
I LOVE ALL THOSE PRECIOUS GIFTS FROM THE SEA :). I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT WHEN THE KIDS ARE ALL HOME, YOU KNOW THEY ARE SAFE AND SOUND.
THEN THERE IS THE DAY THEY START TO GROW UP.....I MISS THE DAYS WHEN MY CHILDREN WERE JUST LITTLE ONES RUNNING AROUND AND PLAYING. THINGS WILL WORK OUT FOR YOUR SON, HAVING A MOTHER AS STRONG AS YOU, AND SO FULL OF LOVE...WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR. HAVE A LOVELY DAY.

I somehow missed your last post. My daughter had a soccer coach like this. Our daughter was and still is one of the most athletic young ladies I ever saw. She, too, is/was a swimmer. She always qualified for state meets, etc.... She was on a gymnastics team, etc.... Anyway, for some reason this coach started out really encouraging her and letting her play long minutes, even as a freshman, but then, something happened and he stopped playing her at all. When she did play she made big plays, got her picture in the paper making them and all that kind of stuff. I would watch practices sometimes. When they ran she was always one of the fastest three runners, et... You get the idea. I asked him why she wasn't playing, and he said it was because she wasn't fast enough. Anyway, it sounds like for some reason your sons coach is treating him very much the same way. My daughter finally said that she had had enough. She went to him and told him she just couldn't devote that much time to practice etc...if she was never going to play. She cried when she told him. She was so sad not to play anymore. But, she now is grown, a mother of two and working on her phd. So, she grew from this experience along with others. I hope your son will be stronger for having had this kind of coach. Perhaps, if nothing else, he has learned that this is NOT the way a person should behave. Guilt is a HUGE part of being a mom. I know from raising three girls. It sounds like you are very supportive of him and his decisions which you are letting him make on his own. that is very important!!!

Dear Meredith, thanks for sharing the pretty beach finds. Isn't it wonderful how blogging has brought us friends who care and support us? I count you as a real friend of mine.

Hi Meredith, I'm stopping by to say hello via Claudia's blog. We have a lot in common, I'm also a Cancer (July 16) and I've been involved with special education and occupational therapists all of my life. Sounds like you are going through some rough times with your son - I hope everything starts to work itself out. Take care my friend! xxoo

Meredith, I love the way you described the little boys on the beach in your comment on my blog. Some of my best memories with my kids are at the beach or the lake. It is so hard to let go of the 'little boy', but you're right, it is gratifying to see the fine young men they grow up to be. And as moms, we have the privilege of always seeing that "little boy" that's inside.

I always enjoy coming over to read your blog!
