Happy Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I just completed this granny square cowl and couldn't wait to show you.  I saw a version of this cowl on the famous Crochet with Raymond blog by Alice, quite a while ago.  When I went to purchase my therapy yarn, and saw this lovely variegated yarn, I thought it would be perfect for this project.
A lovely picture of me in my bathroom.  Sorry for the picture but you get an idea of the size of the cowl. I used Classic Shades, machine washable, acrylic/wool blend yarn from Universal Yarn.  This is a new yarn carried by my local yarn shop Uncommon Threads, in Palm Harbor Florida.  It comes in these amazing shade combinations and crochets up so beautifully.  It took about 2 and 1/2 skeins of yarn for this project, but could have easily taken less if the granny squares were a bit smaller.  I made 5 very big granny squares, hooked together as I went along, made a border on each side, and hooray my 27 th project of the year is finished. This yarn is very reasonable price for 197 yards, so you just can't go wrong.  I bought several more shades with thoughts of a several more cowls, or even some wonderful Queen Anne Lace Scarves.  The variations in the colors would be beautiful in the scarf.  I really love it and it is sooooooooo soft.  Now I have to ask myself why I am having an obsession with cowls when it is 90 degrees here in Florida?

For those animal lovers out there my sister Claudia has been watching a Robin's nest up close.  It is right outside her front door, the babies are adorable.  Go and have a look.  Claudia's blog is amazing and she is just the best sister.  She has like a zillion followers and she is the reason I started my blog.  Go peek at the babies it will brighten your day.

And quickly I wanted to say I have been having a ton of trouble leaving comments on blogs.  I have to sign into blogger and if I stay signed in I can't leave a comment, if I sign out I can.  Don't know what is up with all of that, so I just wanted to say I am reading all of your blogs, just may not be able to comment.

Happy Friday, and hopefully a restful weekend is in store for everyone.

I love this cowl. The colors are great. I haven't had much luck making granny squares. I am a beginner, so I guess I'll just keep on trying. Those would be perfect on days when it's so cold up here in TN during the winter. There are no scarf tails to get caught on things.
I didn't realize you are Claudia's sister. I've been following her for a long time. She's great. How's your mom?

The cowl is beautiful, Mer, as are you! I may have to make one.

Great talking to you this morning. Have a wonderful time with Liz and Vivie.

Really nice, Meredith! I'm sort of waiting for it to cool down before tackling one of these (well, that will probably take a few months as the summer hasn't even begun, around here...though it's still officially Spring we're with you in the high 80's!) but it's definitely a keeper! Especially because I seem to get tired with long projects and quickly jump onto new ones... and then blogging and reading other blogs and sighing at the beautiful things you make also keeps me away from work ;)
Thank you so much for your sweet comments :)
Happy holiday! (Memorial day, is it?)
Big hugs xx

Now, don't get too hot down there in sunny FL with that cowl on.... giggle-giggle. I do love that varigated yummie yarn and what a fun pattern. Yes, I've been watching Claudias Robins, doesn't she have the perfect nest for spy on everyday. Very cool.

Toodles for Now,
Kate

Trying desperately to catch up on what is happening with all these wonderful blog friends I follow. I see you have been busy making your cowl and they are addictive. Love your color choice and it looks great on you. Have a great weekend :)

Your cowl is very nice and an interesting design. I knit a cowl this past winter and wore it a lot. It was a nice alternative to a scarf.
I'm at a bit of a standstill with my own projects. Anything close to completion requires more thinking than I can muster ;-) Luckily I have a garter stitch afghan and shawl to keep my hands busy but they are far from being done. Might need to cast on for something quick and satisfying.
Have a great holiday weekend!!
