Chocolate Blanket

The Chocolate Yarn Sucking Blanket is finished!!!!!  I am so excited I can't even tell you.  I don't think I am really a blanket kind of gal.  I mean I love the idea of them, and they are so cozy, it is just that my attention span isn't that great.
I yearn to make something else while I am crocheting or knitting a blanket.  I have to force myself into completing it.
The pattern is a simple treble crochet shell pattern.  The border is 4 rows of treble crochet and the first and last seven stitches of each row are treble crochet.  Easy-peasy, just a bit boring.  I think my next blanket will be colorful, maybe that will help.
The yarn used on this blanket is Lion Brand Yarn Nature's Choice Organic Cotton in walnut.  I ended up using about 20 skeins on a size K crochet hook.  Each skein has 103 yards, not much yardage for approximately the $8.00 selling prices, but with the use of coupons averaging 40 to 50% off it worked out okay.

My youngest son loves it even though he thinks it is a bit short at 69 inches in length.  It is approximately 60 inches wide, a nice blanket size for him.  I think this is finished project number 41 for me but to be honest it has been so long since I finished a project I can't remember.

Hope you are all having a great Monday.

It's gorgeous, but I can sure relate on why you're glad to be done. I was asked to do a white baby blanket and o.m.g.... it was boring to make! I much prefer something with more color and more interesting to make. I'm sure your son will love having this special Mom-made blanket.. is it his to take with him to college? I'm working on a random stripe neat ripple and am enjoying it except for all the double-checking on if I'd doing it right! :-) ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Yes, it's so gorgeous, Meredith! I've never tried such a big thing like that, but yours has been bringing me such an inspiration! Thanks for sharing!
Great day to you too!

Now good for you on completing your son's blanket. I like it! I bet during the time you were hooking away on it that your mind was imagining all the other things you could be making instead. That is how I am, I never seem to have trouble starting projects...it is the completing that bogs me down, but oh, when it is done, I am a happy camper and ready to move on to something new. Can't wait to see what you plan to stitch up next. Hope the kitchen is coming along. Have a good week.

I love that blanket but I can relate to that feeling... I haven't ventured into large projects so far, like you said, a short term attention span and I start craving other projects!
But that stitch is so lovely and the blanket I will probably give it a try... maybe a baby blanket? ;-) I'm stocking up on those, you never know when the next baby boom will come around (giggle)

Wow- it's really stunning!!
I have never thought of making a blanket just one colour, but your looks fantastic- it's very effective!

I just recently finished my own project that used a very similar pattern. It does get monotonous after a while, but it does look very nice in the end! Your blanket looks very snuggly :) Congrats on completing a large project!

Hi Meredith,
Your blanket looks beautiful! Now that I know how to make other things, I agree with you about blankets, they take so long and unless I am making squares or circles to connect into a blanket, I want to start working on other projects. That is a pricey one too, 20 skeins -yikes! I am glad your son likes it!

I absolutely love your blanket!! The pattern looks so difficult. I really like that you used just the one colour - it shows of the pattern so well. Stunning!

I'm sure your son will love the blanket for ever. The colour is beautiful. Just one colour is nice for a change. And it shows the pattern very well.

It really is a gorgeous blanket! I love the stitch pattern and the colour choice, perfect for a young man. Good on you for keeping at it, and finishing it, quite a challenge with such a big project. Hurrah!
