Ripple Washcloth Madness

I think I have gone mad, actually a little crochet ripple mad.  I have been resisting the ripple for a long, long time.  I love to see it, I love that you are all obsessed with it and I was not.  Until recently I have held firm and steady, and I have not taken the plunge.  Well that is until I made a visit to one of my favorite blogs, Cozy Things.  You see Kristen made ripple washcloths and towels instead of a big blanket.  She tempted me with the beauty and simplicity of the project, and again I have to state it wasn't a big blanket, which I do not have the time or energy for.  Kristen is an amazing crocheter, knitter and crafter.  Her blog is a delight, go and give her a visit, I promise you will be amazed, too.

You can get a lot or rippling done when you are sitting on you behind all weekend with a nasty cold.  I used your basic Sugar and Cream Cotton yarn.  I just chained 39 and went to town.  I didn't change colors I let the yarn do all the fun work for me.  I am making two more of the cloths above for a little Mother's Day present for my friend Lynda.
The reddish ones are for me.  They look great in my kitchen.  I looked at several ripple patterns, and ended up using the famous Lucy's of Attic24.  I had to give it a few tries as I simply was not reading all of the directions, seems I never learn that lesson.  The only thing I changed was to adjust the pattern slightly so it wasn't so wide.  Simple, easy, fun.

What are you up to today?

I love little simple things like washcloths :)Pretty colors, simple patterns (mostly), instant gratification, and useful! What's not to love? Hopefully you're over your cold by now. Maybe I should go wip up a couple of washcloths....

Oh look at you, rippling away like nobody's business! Dish cloths are a fun, small, portable project and fast. Don't be intimidated by the ripple pattern, it is actually one of the most mindless patterns out there. The very first afghan/blanket I learned to do was a ripple and I was about 12 or 13 at the time. The only unfun thing about them is tucking in the tails if you are using a palette of colors, but it seems you took care of that problem by using a variegated cotton. Good for you! Have some fun. Hope you are feeling better.

Those are darling! I have not yet ventured into too many different designs with my washcloths...but I did do some crochet ones with different colors and some pattern. Fun stuff. Hope your cold is better!! I did so love the towels that Kristen did. I have been so ding dang busy with Eater prep, that I haven't had any yarn time. That is all going to change on this rainy day with more rain ahead!!!
Wish you lived near me...would so love to meet you!!
XO Kris

They are very nice...I love the colors. I have yet to be bitten by the ripple bug, but I know it's just a matter of time. :)

Thanks for the link, I am heading there now to check it out.

Blessings always

A woman after my own heart! I got fed up with my ripple blanket and turned it into a cushion before I went any further. Your smaller projects are even more enticing! Off to find some variegated cotton asap! Hope your cold clears up soon for you.x

Kristen's work is amazing! And your dishcloths turned out great. I sure wish we could get that kind of cotton here. Ours is very soft, not really dishcloth quality, but I still use it. Have yet to try the ripple pattern, but I might just give it a go as a dishcloth. A friend at school used Lucy's pattern to make a baby blanket last year but her ripples just didn't work out quite right. Maybe I will try this pattern over the weekend. After I make some more owls. :) Must hit the hay now. Goodnite! Tammy

Ripple dishcloths! What a great idea! I made some plain rectangular ones last year, I didn't even think about rippling them! Might be time to make some more!

Ohh I love them.. I make some as well but not the ripple. I make just a simple dc and sc pattern throughout and they come out pretty as well. I use them for cleaning my dishes and counter tops.Very fun to make. Thanks for sharing. Shari!

Are these not the funniest.
What a fab island today. But, I'm a little mad at myself. We got all the way over on the ferry and then I realized my camera battery was back at the bungalow on the charger....boo-hoo....Thanks for having the perfect weather the entire time I've been here, but ready to be home Sunday to see my gardens.....

Hey again! Hope all is well. I make simple dishcloths when I'm not sure what else to do plus it is easy to carry along in the car if hubby is driving. :) Still haven't tried the ripple. Soon though! Hope you are having a good weekend. Tammy
