Friday Thoughts

What two posts, two days in a row???  I know I am feeling a bit crazy today.  I had all sorts of cleaning plans for outside today, but I woke up to this.  Rain, rain and more rain.  It was lovely.  There was a gentle rumble of thunder, just enough to set the mood, but not scare the pants off you.
The rain went on for several hours.  Really, I was so happy, I get so sick of the sun and the intensity of the heat here in Florida.  A dreary, cloudy, rain filled day sounded perfect to me.  I really should live in the Northwest where days like this are common.
My oldest son was at school, my youngest taking a test on the computer, my husband riding his stationary bike upstairs, so I had a bit of time to myself.  To celebrate I lit my Mother's Day stress re-leaving candle from my oldest son, who by the way causes me a great deal of stress.  I poured a second cup of tea, and ate my breakfast while crocheting the border on my vest.  Ah....peace.  Not much of that around here, so I grab it when I can.

After a wonderful talk with my sister Claudia, I decided the blissful time had to stop.  I grabbed old shorts and a raincoat, and went outside to clean and de-mildew my outside furniture.  Rain just means I have to spend less time rinsing everything off.  So a peaceful morning and a big chore completed, not bad.

Today is my parents 66th wedding anniversary.  When I went to visit my Mother she didn't know what day it was and really did not seem to care.  Sad.  But 66 years with the same person is frankly amazing if you ask me.

Claudia told me I had to share my computer crashing story with all of you.  Do not download any email with UPS in it.  I did and my computer crashed and it took everything with it.  My computer repair guy, Andy said it is the worst virus he has seen, and it took a really long time to clean up the disaster this virus left.  I guess this info is all over Facebook and such, but since I am rarely on Facebook, and we do UPS things, I got caught.  We were not online for two days, so my youngest had to miss several classes that he takes online.  Beware of UPS anything on your computer!!!

I will be crazy busy this next week as my kids are taking exams, and my oldest son is graduating on the 7th.  We are having a party for him on the 9th, thus all the cleaning that is being done.  If they already have their cap and gown, there is a good chance they are actually graduating, right? Just kidding.

Life is changing so fast.  Good friends are ill, best friends are moving.  My oldest leaves for Ohio State in 2 1/2 months.  Change is good, right?  At least that is what they say even if it isn't feeling so good at the moment.

Happy Weekend.

We who have BEEN there can give you a shoulder when you need one MERE. It is hard when they leave for college, but IF they are happy it makes it so much easier.

My sister in Sarasota said they had monsoon rains today, but then we had a day long rain event here in Ohio too. We all needed it so it was nice. Life is about change I guess but sometimes I am not good with certain changes. My parents made it to their 65th and my dad passed a month later. I am proud to say they were married that long. Hope you have a relaxing weekend Meredith! ~Hugs, Patti

Look at that beautiful quiet peaceful deck area with all rain cleaned chairs. Aren't those rainy days like this just wonderful to take a moment and pause like you did. Have a great time celebrating the graduations. Know that I know just what's going on there with your seniors too. It's just so hard, I have one going pretty fast up here. Will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs, Kate

I'm glad you enjoyed the rainy day. I could use a bit heat here. How nice of your son to give you a stress releaving candle. I'm sure I knows that you're stressed because of him. It a big thank you.
There are too many changes in a wife's and mother's life in my opinion. Some we don't even notice but some are like a thunder storm. But one day we will be wise and knowing, relaxed and have inner peace. ;-)

Congratulations to your parents on their long marriage! That is wonderful. We hit 33 this summer! I have no idea how that happened!!!
I wish we had rain like the Pacific Northwest too! I love that kind of weather. Where we are, it is hot, hot, hot. In fact, we will be hot now until November!!! Ugh. The older I get, the less tolerance I have for the heat. Have fun with the graduation festivities. When they go away to school, it is hard at first, but it does get much easier.
Hugs,
Kris

You sure had a lot going on. Luckily you are a strong person. Not saying that it won't get you down, but you will get through it. It sounds like you had a wonderful time today with stress relief.

Our Friday was rainy, cold and so damp. The wind was blowing a bit. We desperately needed this rain, especially the farmers who have been kicking up the dust and planting away in their fields. Having temps in the 40's tonight is a far cry from that 80+ stuff we just had earlier in the week. Now I can go out and pull weeds out of our landscaping and re-mulch. I told hubby last summer we needed to mulch but he said no. I should have just taken the truck and went to Lowes and had them load me up with about 50 bags. He is not well and it all lands on my shoulders cause it wears him out to do anything now. But this rain will make weeding easier and I am relieved. I have to wait till Sunday to get my wicker porch furniture out of the basement. I hauled it all down there last fall, but my youngest will help me get it up this time on Sunday when she comes to visit. Hopefully we will sell our big chest freezer in the garage and can use that space to store the outside furniture. It is sure a pain in the rear going up and down the stairs. Believe me, the day will come when it will be too quiet in your house. There will be tears when your son leaves for college, and holidays will be extra special when he can come home. I know, I have been there and done that twice, but my children were only about an hour away and that made a difference. Some days we need to light a candle and have a cup of tea. It is sad about your parents decline in health, but so remarkable to have been together for that many years. It will be 42 years for us in July. I realize that we may not be so lucky to make it to 50 years. Maybe it is a good thing that we forget as we get older. To be sharp as a tack and know that you have lost a spouse is a heart wrenching state. In my mind I picture myself with my husband gone and see a lonely life. I know I could drop over with a heart attack, or something else could happen to me first, but I also know he needs me to be well. I did not hear about that virus, but I have gotten some strange things in my Yahoo mailbox. One thing was what appeared to come from Amazon.com, an email telling me that my order was postponed and an order #. Strangely I had not ordered anything and so I went to their site and contacted them, forwarded that email to them and they said it was not from them, that my account had no purchases or anything strange going on and they would investigate the email source. Then I got one from a site Knitting Fever stating basically the same thing, that my order was postponed, giving me an order # and all, I did not respond to it and if they want to send me some yarn, then it looks like I have a gift, for I have not ordered any yarn from that source. A person sure has to keep on their toes all the time. Have great weekend.

Thanks for the heads up about the UPS thing...I'm rarely on Facebook as well. I'm actually waiting on a package now, and knowing me I would have opened email.
Congrats on finishing the squares for your vest..sometimes those types of projects seem to never end.
66 years for your parents...that is unheard of these days.
Have fun with your party. With all of the stress we endure in life...we need to party any time we have the chance:)
Have a great weekend!

Hi Meredith, YOU really do have a lot of changes happening. But like you say change can be good and it might as well be, because do we really have a choice! I question change myself, like you, but it doesn't really help! So I go with the flow.

Have a great weekend, xoRobin❤

Meredith, I am cheering you on through all your changes, remembering how similar changes in my life affected me. One of the odd results of some of the difficult changes I have experienced is an intense sense of gratitude for the beauty and happiness I have known. The intense, sadness, discomfort, and loss somehow magnified the joy I have known. Accross the miles I care about you.

Dear Meredith.. congrats on the amazing anniversary! I know you're worrying about your son going off to college.. my youngest got a scholarship to U of Tennessee at Martin and drove himself there in an old VW bus.. he made it fine but it was hard to have him so far away. What I've learned at my ripe old age is that in each life there will be pain and suffering but you just have to put one foot in front of the other one and keep going. My daughter moving away and taking my little granddaughters has been one of the hardest things I've ever dealt with.. but I'm trying to keep on keeping on.. we're here for you. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

So nice that you got a chance to relax and crochet for a while. :)

I just wanted you to know that I have been replying back to your comments on my blog (at least I thought I was) until I noticed you are a "No reply" which only means that you don't have your e-mail address on your profile so when you leave a comment somewhere they can't reply back to you via e-mail. Which might be the way you want it, not sure. But I'll remember to come back here to your blog to respond in the future.

Hang in there...things will slow down again and you will be able to hook and knit to your hearts content.

Blessings always
