Today my day is filled with packing and organizing. I am heading off to Franklin, NC tomorrow with my youngest and a friend of his. We are going to visit our friends Lynda and Bruce. As you can see my knitting is ready to go. I do have my priorities you know.
The Cardi Shrug is on the needles, I am under the arm so I have about 6 more inches to go on this project.
The yummy apple green is for the second shrug, I hope to get it on the needles while I am away from home. My friends live on half of a mountain. I think two 15 year old boys might have a wonderful time exploring all by themselves. I will get to visit with my dear friends. Bruce is one of my friends battling cancer right now, stage 4 lung cancer with a horrible prognosis. So it is really important I can go and see him for myself.
When I get home I have this mess to deal with. 12 1/4 inches of rain leads to a lot of plant growth and may I add A LOT of weed growth. I feel like the plants have been on a super growth cycle this week. Plants on steroids!
Even the Mexican Petunia's have gone mad.
We are heading out tomorrow at 7am for the 12 hour drive. I am hoping to return Thursday or Friday. If you live in the US, hope your 4th of July is safe and lovely. And no matter what your political background is, with all the election craziness, I know you are all happy to live in such a wonderful country. I know I am.
See you soon.

Hi Meredith! I hope all goes well with your friend. Love yarn's colour, so bright! It's so great your plants have grown so much! I adore plants and like taking care of them,
Enjoy your trip,
Angeliki
Have a good trip, Mere. You will get some knitting done while visiting, I am sure. Yep, I am happy to live here in America.. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Have a good time! We wish you'd visit us here in our little cottage!
God Bless you all as you visit your dear friend. Tell those boys not to get lost on the mountain!!!
Your shrugs colors are awesome. Im' just to the under the sleeve part now on my first. WHat a fun knit.
I've never seen Mexican petunias...are they crinkly???
Have a great time on your trip! Just you and your son? Wow, you are brave to make that drive by yourself! I don't think I would attempt that. Love the colors of your shrugs. I agree with you, no matter what the political views are that you have, we live in the best country in the world!!!!
Safe travels to you! And I am so sorry to hear your friend has cancer. He will appreciate your visit, very much.
XO Kris

Have a wonderful trip Meredith! Best wishes for your dear friend!! Be safe and talk again soon.
Shari!!
I hope all works out well for your friend. Thankful that you are able to make this trip!I bet the boys will be in Heaven there. I love the colors of your yarn! I am really surprised on how well our gardens are doing with the lack of rain. I have a brown daylily in bloom right now. Really different. It is called Midnight embers. Born from a nursery man here. He has bred some beautiful daylilies. Stay safe.
I love the yarn colors. Hopefully the weeds will slow down while you're gone. Be safe on your trip.
Today I am staying inside to hide from the heat wave, and as I do so I am catching up on some of my favorite blogs to see what is new. Your friend is lucky to have a friend in you, someone who will travel miles to visit and try to bring some happiness when his life is nearing it's end. My heart goes out to him, his family and the friends who continue to fill his life with love and kindness. It is so important to them to know others care. You are such a fast knitter. I looked at your pile of knitted treasures and can understand questioning what will happen to all this hard work once we are gone. If you don't do that sort of thing yourself then it is doubtful if you would understand the money and hours of work and love that go into making something. No one understands until they actually sit and do it themselves. It is good that Kris found and rescued that blanket. I read her post on it and thought to myself what a lucky find for her.
Have a safe trip, and a good week to come.
Susanne :)
Safe travels my friend...and prayers sent out for Bruce.
Take lots of pictures...and don't forget they have knit shops all along the way.
Blessings always :)
Have a safe trip. I am sorry to hear how sick your friend is. Take care.

Meredith- have a wonderful time on your travels-- for me one of the best parts of any trip is the extra time you have to knit!! Your yarns are beautiful-/
