Home For Just A Bit

We are home from Atlanta and boy am I glad.  I loved, loved, loved staying in this room at The Residence Inn near Buckhead, all by myself.  Yes I will say that again, all by myself.
It had a bed, kitchen, bathroom and a sofa and TV, what more could you ask for?  I drove kids back and forth through Atlanta traffic, to the pool and home, twice a day.  I shuffled kids to the grocery store and to dinner.  I am tired of shuffling.  And might I add I hate Atlanta's small lanes and rude drivers.  I am not a city driver that is for sure.
The Aquatic Center at Georgia Tech is really beautiful.  Too bad Mr. 18 year old had a really tough meet.  I guess you can not be on your game all the time.  He is ready to move on to a tougher workout regime in a 50 meter pool. His current coach has been amazing, she has kept him in the pool, remember when he almost quit do to the abusive coach he had for three years?   She has healed him as much as she could physically and mentally, now he is ready to move on to another level.
The week is a long one when your son isn't doing well.  Here he is getting ready for one of his races.  He moves to Ohio State on the 17th, gosh I am a mess about that even though I am excited for him.  I have a lot to do to get him ready, but that has to wait as I am working this week and we are off again on Thursday for a nephew's wedding.  I feel like I am just getting a handle on the laundry and we will have to pack up again.

So if I don't post, please forgive me.  My head is spinning and I am a bit crazy at the moment.  Hope you are all doing well and enjoying summer.

Such busy times!!! Your suite looked wonderful though. My good friends lived in Georgia, right near Buckhead in fact, and they hated it. They are in Boise now. Sorry your son didn't have a great week. Exciting times are ahead for him!! Rest up Mama!

Your room looks fantastic. I would love to stay there! Too be by yourself must have been heaven. I am sorry that your son didn't do well. But he did just come off an injury. I imagine that didn't help him. But on to better days now. It sounds like he has a great coach! Best wishes in future meets. I hope you get to slow down soon get some ME time. Hugs, Teresa

Great room! I hope you brought some yarn and hooks/needles along! I've never been to Atlanta, but I've heard it's a beautiful city.

It's hard when our kids are facing difficult "races". Hope things look up from here.

Except for the all the toting to and fro, staying in that room ALONE had to be relaxing at the end of a long day. Sorry to hear your son had a tough time (seems like Michael Phelps is in the same boat right now at the Olympics). You are just gonna catch your breath and then off again you go. Have a good time at the wedding. Best wishes, Tammy

Ahhh a room of ones own. I bet you had a blast! :)

Sending prayers your way for the Ohio trip...and I am right there with you on not liking the city driving...Atlanta is horrible. They won't let you on the road and they will shift over in your lane and make you slam on your breaks...hateful place! Of course there are plenty of these type of people driving in Nashville, too....that's why I hate going there, too! I am not sure what it is about certain people and an expressway, it's like they loose all sense of common decency or something.

Prayers and hugs sent your way...oh, and hugs to Max, too. :)

Sounds to me like you need a holiday!

And yes, I remember that feeling, the summer before they set off for college/uni, a mix of apprehension, relief, and missing them before they've even gone.

Don't forget to grab some me time amidst all your running about x

It is good that your son did not quit what he loves to do. It is also good that he let go of the past troubles and move on to better times. No sense in stewing over all that. I would love to see your son become an Olympian and show that old coach. Maybe that is in his future, only time will tell.
It is fun getting a child ready for college....make your list and add to it when you think of things. He will let you know what he forgot, and thank goodness there is a Walmart around every corner.
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)

Oh yeah, the best time to drive through Atlanta is at 4am....I did that once when on our way to Fort Myers. I think there was about 10 cars total on I-75. Our friends told us not to take the loop around the city but to just drive right through it at that time and it would be a piece of cake. Unfortunately not everyone can do that if they have other places to be at certain times, lol

Such a busy time, glad to hear you managed to catch a bit of "me" time in amongst it all!

Im sure your son is going to have such a wonderful time. My eldest son is off to university soon, but its in our home town so he will still be here with us!

BTW have you been watching the Olympics - hasnt Michael Phelps been awesome?
