Ramblings

Yesterday was a stay at home day in order get some thing done.  Don't you love days where you do not have to jump in your car and drive a million places?  I drive a lot for work, so I love a day where I can stay home.

I made agave sweetened chocolate chip cookies.  Yum!

I weeded and pruned back all these bushes.  We have had a lot of rain so my plants are growing like mad.  Mind you they are growing, but not flowering, so a good trim was in order.

Lantana, one of the few plants the deer won't eat.

 Purple loveliness.

During the summer in Florida it is not unusual to have an afternoon storm.  I watched this beauty slowly roll in.  Not much happened, but the clouds were beautiful in their variations of gray.

There was a bit of rumbling and grumbling, but not much rain.

I vacuumed and washed to floor, cleaned bathrooms and did laundry, and even managed a bit of knitting on the Cardi Shrug, while watching more of  Downton Abbey Season 2.  I am totally hooked.  And thanks for not making fun of my calling it Downtown Abbey in previous posts.  Typical me, just paying partial attention all the time.

Today a much needed visit to see my Mom in the nursing home, paperwork and hopefully more knitting.

What are you up to today?

We had a grumbly rumbly day yesterday but not a drop of rain. We need it badly as we are in a drought up here in Ohio! Our crops desperately need some water. I love how productive those rainy days can be!

The cookies look delicious. When you make them with agave, do they get crisp or do they stay more chewy?

Pretty sky picture. I posted one on Facebook the other day because the clouds were so interesting looking. Of course, in the 2-D of computer, they didn't look nearly as impressive as they did in real life.

Hello, dear blogger buddy! I LOVE days like that! They're good for the soul! Lantana...hmmm, we had that in California...it was abundant and beautiful! I'm planning to spend what is predicted to be a very humid, warm and stormy day...wait for it...crocheting! I'm working on a second purse (posted the first one the other day) and I have ripped this one back three times! I'm hoping I'll finally like whatever I create today. It just hasn't looked good with the first few tries! I'm amazed at just HOW MUCH of a difference color, and its placement with other color, can make! Enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Annette

Hi Meredith, Love the looks of those cookies!!! I have never used agave as a substitute, is it same quantities?
Also love a day that you had...... but more company and not a whole lot of free time here in Vermont! But all is good.

Yeah, it feels good to stay in once and a while, but (as evidenced by your post) sometimes you work harder during a day at home than when you have to go out! Have a great weekend!

Hi Meredith,
Your gray skies look like ours have for the past three days. Thankfully, today there is much less humidity. I felt like a wet sock for days now.
Those cookies look yummy. I have never used agave in cooking. I do use it to sweeten tea.
I hope to get some reading time on my relaxation station today!! And some knitting to finish my scarf too. Husband is on the golf course, so the world is my oyster!!!
XO Kris

Mmmm those cookies look so yummy! I thought it was Downtown Abby also! Guess great minds think alike. lol. Your flowers are beautiful! You got so much done today. Me I went and got my hair cut. Did a little shopping and stopped at a yogurt bar that people have been talking about. Eating that now. I wouldn't make the trip too often. Good, but expensive. Nice trat though. Have a great day. Hugs, Teresa

Hi Meredith, you are sure busy during your day off! I'm actually planning to meet Gracie for lunch, her blog is Gray Sea Sailor. We're going to try to move our chicken house too, so we can get chickens again. We're very familiar with grey skies here in Oregon! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Wow, you did a lot today! Now sit back and knit. It's your time to relax.

I must admit I was calling it Downtown for a while until Hubby said, "It's Downton, not downtown." Of course I looked him right in the eyes and said, "Tomato, tomato...what ever!" :) We all knew what you meant, that's all that matters, girl, that's all that matters. :)

Blessings to you and hugs to you and Max as well.

Sounds like a productive day.. I had the same thing in mind but that all went in a completely different direction when I ended up sitting at my car dealership for close to 4 hours and since then been in bed with a migraine.. As for Downton Abbey, I am also HOOKED and don't feel bad, I thought it was Downtown Abbey at first too! LOL

Okay, I was very, very confused there for a bit. Actually, I thought you were confused. But then I saw Robyn's comment, and once again googled the show and then had my aha moment. No "w" -- ha! I always thought it was Downtown, too. And because of that, I saw "Downtown" even when it was "Downton".

Sounds like you had productive day. I should be cleaning. I keep saying I will. Hasn't happened so far. I'm thinking about it though.

I always loved those quick afternoon storms that come in during the summer. Here we have dust, heat,
haze, heat, humidity, heat. Same ol' same ol'.

have a fabulous day. Tammy

My car needed fixing for two days but I enjoyed to stay at home. Although I had an appointment to have my hair cut and had to go there by bicycle. This means 8 km down the hill (what fun) but also 8 km up the hill, which was a bit less fun but good exercise. :-)

I love those kinds of days too, no hurry, no hassle, just do what you want in your own good time. I say it is a day when I am doing those little jobs that no one notices you do unless you don't do them. It is also great to take a break when you want, or just goof off a bit, lol

Oh my...those chocolate chip cookies look delish! I called that show Downtown Abbey at first too. Hee-hee. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Yum, those choc chip biscuits look great. We had a beautiful mid-winter day here, very warm, so we went to the park. I was going to bake but the park won!

I love a summer storm. Amazing.

Those cookies look amazing! Were they tasty? I love watching the clouds. We had two rather large rain storms over the weekend. Just a little lightning so we could actually be out in the rain. It was glorious!
