Thankful Friday

I have been it a twit lately, probably due to my crazy hormones, my general tendency to worry, the upcoming election......well you know how it goes.  So I decided to heed my own advice and just take some time to be Thankful.  I wanted to walk around near my house for just five minutes, and just try to be one with the beauty of nature.  Nature can pack a huge wallop, like we have witnessed with Hurricane Sandy.  I don't want to only notice when nature is negative, or fierce, I just want to be able to notice the nature all around me.  Today I was enticed by the Autumn sun and how it filters in slowly, with a much softer edge. The summer sun here in Florida is so fierce and brutal.  So come along with me on my five minute walk and lets see what we can find.

Still sending all of you affected by Sandy positive thoughts to get through this very difficult time.

Happy Weekend.

So VERY thankful Sandy did not pack the wallop it had for the northeast. Just read on my Facebook page that a friend lost everything -- home and cars and does not have flood insurance. :-(

I can't imagine the pain and frustration. I know how anxious I was after Charley --- and we had just a bit of damage.

I truly AM thankful for what we avoided and wish that I could do something for Tommy.

Meredith, what a positive and lovely post of gratitude. It is nice to take notice to the everyday surroundings, the things we pass by unnoticed most days. It's so easy to do, but you took the time to see the beauty right in your own backyard/neighborhood!!!
Hope you have a fun weekend, xoRobin❤
p.s. hormones are no fun, no fun at all : (

Those darn hormones!

Taking the camera outside is a sure-fire way to find beauty and appreciation. Your geraniums are lovely, and how lucky you are to be surrounded by trees.

We had a bright cold day today, with beautiful sparkly-clear air that smelled like - like - I want to say life. It smelled alive and fresh and wonderful. Have a great weekend!

When I am really stressed out I try to live in the moment...try to remember to do it everyday if I can. I know we are both worriers, but we need to remember to enjoy the simple things in life. I am glad you took us all on a little tour of your yard...something to be grateful for! ~Hugs, Patti

You are so right, we do need to take time to look around and be grateful for what we have. It was heartbreaking to see the devastation, didn't they evacuate those people or was it too late to get them out? It's so sad to see so many homes lost but I am thankful they were alive......
Your Mr. 18 is such a handsome boy! I do enjoy seeing all your knitting and crocheting, you always accomplish so much. Great Halloween decor too!!!

Nature really is beautiful, and awesome, and sometimes awful. But always beautiful.

Nature can be brutal, but on the other end of the spectrum it can be light as the dandelion seed carried gently on the breeze, weighing hardly nothing at all. My heart goes out too to the millions of people who are suffering from all of this devastation. One can only hope that lives are put back together as quickly as possible and some sort of normal can be found again. I totally get your need for fun at Halloween. Maybe it is because this time of year lends itself to having fun and nothing has to be taken seriously. My oldest daughter has always loved Halloween too. My favorite was always Christmas until my children grew up. It just wasn't the same without little ones opening presents. Now we have our grandson and something to look forward to.

Meredith.. I adored walking through your garden with you and the photos you took were very artsy and evocative. I've also been thinking of all the tragedy of the loss of lives and homes and all the historic structures that Sandy harmed. So sad.
