A Finished Ripple

Thanks for all the well wishes, you blogging friends are just the best.  I think that if you all lived closer I would have had several pots of chicken soup left at my door step.  After a good bit of bush pruning, a mid afternoon nap, and eight hours of sleep I am feeling somewhat better.  I am still coughing, but my spirits are up.

I am going to drench your senses with some color here for a few pictures.  Hope you don't mind.  It
will all make sense in a bit.

I have been longing for color, for Spring to spring its beauty on me.  I love color but live in a home that is more muted with jewel tones.

This is what I have been seeing, day after dreary day.  Never again am I going to work on something that matches, rather than something I like.  And I am sure I am going to need a reminder or two from all of you to keep me on course.

My ripple is done, finished, complete, and I am over it.  It measures 50 x 64 inches.  13 large stripes made up of nine individual rows each.  2,340 yards of Plymouth Encore yarn was used to crochet this baby up.  That brings my total yardage for the year up to 3,640.  Not bad for seven completed projects.

I am sure it will be nice to cuddle with when it is cold out.  But right now I feel like putting it in time out, like I do with other projects that aren't behaving.  It isn't the ripples fault, no the fault is entirely mine.  Boring colors = boring projects.  It is as simple as that.

So what is next?  Maybe this raglan from The Best of Knitscene.  I know it is gray and not all that vibrant, but gray is my favorite color to work with by far for a knitted or crochet garment.

Something else happened the last few days to brighten my week.  I have been selected for several awards.  I want to thank Taci, Shari, and Elisabeth for thinking about me and nominating me for these awards.  You see I get a bit shy when I win an award, I am not sure why but I  am.  I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.  Please pop in and visit these lovely, creative and very giving women.

Some more color just for you.  Happy Sunday.

I love your finished blanket, and it does match your couch perfectly. I bet it was so boring cause it was such a large project. I love muted colors like that. and I needed all those beautiful flower photos-thank you for that too-hugs

Congrats on the ripple afghan finish. It looks great on your sofa.

The flowers are simply beautiful. I'm afraid the deer have taken a liking to my garden. :-( Not sure what I'm going to do, but I'm sad to be so flower-less this year.

I think your ripple is wonderful! I used to always use muted colors, browns, tans, rusts - and then I found Lucy at Attic24 and decided that I would bring color into my brown interior - so you know I did a bright colored ripple and granny circle pillow and plopped them on my brown leather chair and voila! Color in my brown rooms! So, you should try what I did a do a big old colorful afghan and try it in your house and see what happens. Glad you're feeling better! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Beautiful ripple! The colors look so fresh. So pretty together. The flower pics are also great! I can't wait to get a little color here. The new snow is nice and bright though. Also blue sky today so that helps. I was a grump yesterday so the sun shine is very nice to see.
I am so glad that you are feeling better. Great news! But you sure are busy even when you don't feel well! Have a great day. Hugs, Teresa

I'm glad you're feeling better :) The flower pictures are lovely and so is your blanket. I love bright colours too so I understand how you feel about struggling through a project that you wish was a different colour, but I think the final result was worth it in this case :) Elisabeth x

Looks beautiful Mer. Love the shot of rosey/pink - I think that really adds a lot to the throw.

Love the blanket and its colours but know what you mean about boring colours. Sometimes as much as I need to get a project done it takes twice as long if I don't like the colours. Thanks for sharing your flower colours, beautiful, x

I love your blanket. It looks great on the brown sofa. springs seems to be far away here. Still frosty and grey at home, and frosty and icy in the mountains where I am right now. It's not bad when you go skiing, but ..... I miss the flowers, the colours, the warmth.
Have a nice week.

Oh Meredith, you are a crocheter after my own heart! I can't STAND to make things that match the house. My heart yearns for every other colour, but shades of cream, brown, sage, red leave me cold. (Why should this be?)

Perhaps the glorious deep pink of your azaleas (?) would be too much to live with on a daily basis, and that's why we appreciate it so much outdoors. :)

So glad to hear you're feeling better.

I posted here from my phone but I don't think,it worked ...I love your ripple blanket. Love how you made wide stripes of the same color and changed them less often... I love the effect it gave to the look of the blanket. Glad you are feeling better.

I like the colors of your blanket though I can understand how you feel. I started a striped blanket years ago that I've not completed because I decided I didn't like the mix of colors after all. I seem to have a hard time with color selection. I'm never sure what to do with blog awards either. I hate to not acknowledge them though I also don't want to not accept them. Just seems rude as it is just a simple gesture from another blogger and some people make a big deal out of the whole thing. I tend to pick a lot of gray when I am buying clothes for myself -- and usually stick with those kinds of colors for yarn when it comes to scarves or such. Hope the knitting is coming along. I gotta go change sheets on the bed now. Domestic joy! Not! :) Hugs, Tammy
