Feeling Off Center

The last few days I have been feeling a bit off center.  A bit nosey, stomachy, tiredish and well kind of sore.  Not really sick, just off a bit.  So today I am taking it easy.  It is gray, raining and cool out, my favorite type of day.  I plan on reading blogs, reading magazines and maybe knitting.  Sounds lovely doesn't it?  Well besides the feeling, "off" part.  Maybe I can get caught up on some TV episodes I have saved, or just do things at my own speed.  I think my system is in shock from getting up early again, gosh 5:15 is so early in the morning.  I am working back at my crazy schedule of long days on Monday and Wednesday.   And I have been working like a crazy woman organizing things in my home.  Something about the New Year always makes me want to be organized.  One room that needed a good tidy is my craft space.  It was so disheveled with Christmas projects, wrapping paper and an accumulation of this and that.  I spent a great deal of time on Saturday getting it all put back together.  I bought a new white shelf and got rid of the ridiculous thing I had holding my printer/fax machine.   I bought some baskets to hide all the computer thingamabobs and printer paper.  I am loving it so much more now.  The space is clean, organized and feels fresh.  Want to take a peek?

From the doorway it looks like this.  My new white shelf is by the window.  My work files are to the left in a new big basket.

When you walk in and turn right this is what you see (although it is actually centered unlike this picture) .  Knitting, crochet and felting books, beautiful skeins of yarn, needles and hooks and of course a sheep or two.  My friend Kaylyn gave me the sign at the top of the photo, "KEEP CALM and knit on."  I like that.

To the left of the bookcases is my project table.  Usually full of things I am thinking about making.  The needled felting giveaway is located on the table, but now it is wrapped up and shipped off to Christy the winner.  It seems a bit of a mess here, but actually it is a fun mess so it is just fine.

When you stand back in the room this is what you see.  A big, beautiful window that lets in light but not too much, which is nice in Florida where the daylight can be pretty intense, especially in the summer.

Turning again to the left, my computer station where I do some paperwork from work and of course catch up with all of you.  I know people love their laptops and their iPads, I am old school I like to sit down here in my space and relax with all of you.  I wish this closet held all sorts of yarn, it holds all my work toys, puzzles, and games.  It is an organized mess if you know what I mean.  Do you see Fluffy right next to my desk?  Sofie is hanging out on the top of my computer monitor.

Caroline the Dress Form hangs out in this tiny space between the closet and the doors to my bathroom.  She likes it here because she can see out the window and be near to me at my desk.   Caroline is keeping warm wearing my Never Ending Ruffle Shawl.  It has been chilly even here in Florida.

And this big antique piece holds a lot of my yarn, not all of it but a lot of it.  You can see why I might need to be on a yarn diet.  This piece is a bit big for this space, but it is so functional and we already had it so it is a keeper.  I love the glass in the doors, it lets you see beautiful yarn all the time.

So now you know where I am when I am reading your blogs, searching for yarn, looking through yarny books, planning projects and such.  Come on over and I will give you a real tour!

Love, love, love your craft space.

I would be sitting there staring out the window half the time (which is what I already do here)....gosh, every time I see a picture from you and glimpse a palm tree or something from FL I always get so home sick!

Keep warm and hope you feel much better...and hook/knit on sweet friend.

Firstly I hope you soon feel really better. Such a nuisance when things are not quite right.
I have so enjoyed having a look at your Craft space What a lovely big room. I love the shape of the window and the picture above your computer would rock me to sleep beautifully.

First of all, FEEL BETTER!! Tell Max he needs to give you extra cuddles.

Second of all, if I had a room like that I would never go anywhere else in the house (well, except for the kitchen and bathroom).

Your space is SO beautiful, Meredith! Neat and organized and spacious and totally you. It will be many years before there's an empty bedroom I can take over but I'm already thinking about it all the time. I can't wait to have a whole room for myself, someday. :) I hope you feel back to your old self soon, but I totally understand because I feel a little off right now too. I'm sure a lot of it is just getting back to normal after the holidays, so I'm trying to take it a little slow and leave a bit of time for myself in the hubbub of doing for others.

That is such a beautiful room to work in! It's so open and free flowing. You must be able to see the true color of your yarn, etc with all that natural lightr. You are so organized!

I'm so jealous your space is beautiful Meredith, how nice to have such a lovely room to craft in. I do have a space but it's a small bedroom and very cluttered,I too must try and get it organised. Sorry you are feeling off, I hope your easy peaceful day today will bring you back to normal. :)

I love your creative space so much! You're an inspiration to me to work on mine. And your crocheted valance makes me swoon! I want to do a similar thing for my CS. Which needs MUCH more work before it's ready for an unveiling. You rock. Wish I was your neighbor. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Organized? What the heck is that? Your space looks great! Perfect for productivity and imagination. Makes a girl dream. Though I want to know who that chubby lamb is at the bottom of your workstation. So cute!

Lovely, inviting space to spend hours and hours and hours... I'm old school too with my desk top computer and my nice, big 23" monitor.

Yep, we all have days where we just don't feel quite right. We take the boy to the airport tonight for his very long flight (with 7 hour layover in Frankfurt). Not sure how I am gonna handle walking away. My husband is having a hard time keeping his opens at this time of night. It's 10:40 p.m. We will be leaving within the next 30 minutes. Your craft space is wonderful. I have so much to organize and clean. This place is a grimy mess. Best wishes, Tammy

Hi there Meredith, You have been busy no wonder you are a little tired and achy. I can't seem to get ahead of myself yet this New Year. I'm trying really I am.....so much seems to need my attention and then no time for me and blogging. So what's a girl to do?! BUT I love all you have done and your ROOM looks amazing.

What a wonderful room to work in. Having so much natural lighting should help with the selections of colors that need to blend. I especially like your white valence in your window!
I understand your feeling about keeping things neat. When I'm in the middle of a project, everything is here and there. But after I'm finished and everything has been put back where it belongs - it's such a good feeling.

What a pretty and organized craft space. The window is really pretty and I like the valence you have on it; looks like thread crochet? Take care, Heather

I'll get my coat, put the kettle on. It's an absolutely beautiful space, I'm very envious. And I love the glass doors in your cupboard, so pretty to be able to see in, but practical as well, as the dust is kept out. The window in your room is lovely, and such a nice green view. I dream of a room of my own, just like this! Utterly wonderful.

What a happy room.

I'm making do right now with an old table and some rubbermaid tubs for my stash.

I'm looking for a nice desk so I can make my craft room look more planned and less hodge-podge. Just haven't found the right thing yet.

What a lovely craft space, so light, airy and inspiring with a lovely balance of colour and white. It is also so organised with your desks and storage.

I am most envious as I have a room earmarked for crafting which is crammed full of packing boxes taller than me. I have big plans but it needs more time and leg power than I currently have.

Fluffy Baa Baa looks very cosily accommodated beside your desk and I'm sure Grace is delighted to know how comfy he is. Hope your out of sorts-ness goes soon and the balm of some gentle time helps heal you.

Oh Meredith, I do hope you're feeling "right as rain" very soon. Cuddling with Max or one of your fluffy sheep should have you feeling well soon.
I just love your craft room. Ours is also the office and tends to get VERY unorganized at times. You should see it today. I'm working on a quilt so the ironing board is up, the sewing machine is out and everything is strewn about! I so wish you were closer to the northwest so we could get together and knit, crochet and talk.
Blessings and good well prayers for you my friend,
Betsy

You have such a beautiful craft room! And that antique piece holding your yarn stash is gorgeous! I must admit I am a bit envious of all the light you have right now in Florida. Here in my corner of British Columbia we have dark grey skies and a heavy rainfall warning.

Meredith, I love having a peek into your creative space. It is so cheerful and cozy, and so nicely organized. I'm so excited to move back into a house and have my own space again. You have given me some nice ideas. I love the hutch and can see my fabrics in a piece like that.

No way is your craft room a mess. It is beautiful like the rest of your home. Mine is awful, quite embarrasing actually. The ceiling is open, unfinished with exposed duct work. The other day Ireland overflowed her toilet which is directly above the craft room and directly above my two unpacked boxes of yarn. I was acting like a mad woman trying to move my yarn out of the way.

I love all of your little extras and accents in the room. I know you have to feel so happy every time you go in there.
