More decorations and a visit to the pumpkin patch

My decoration tour continues if you don't mind.  I have actually weaned down some of the things I had in the house in the last few years, so the things I have I really love.

I have had all of these decorations for years.  I am not adding anything new although it can be tempting.  I really have so much, I am trying to declutter and let go of so many things and that includes decorations.  So while it looks like there is a lot here it is much less than it used to be.

My very good friend Lynda has been visiting this week from her home in North Carolina.  I went up to visit her this past summer for her husband's memorial service.  Lynda is currently fighting breast cancer and I am have to tell you I am in awe of her spirit and her fight.  She drove all this way between treatments so she could see family and friends and of course to meet this guy.  Little Buddy has not been on his best behavior, he has a snuffy nose and a tiny cough.  Nothing big but just enough to make him tired and cranky.  We took him to the pumpkin patch anyway and bought a tiny pumpkin.  Pumpkins in Florida are so expensive!!!!  A big one was selling for $45, big by our standards that is.  We were not going to carve it so we settled for the little one so he could touch it and learn about it.  He managed to smile for this picture but other than that he has been a grump, not showing Lynda his best side that is for sure.

Hope you are having a good week.  I will be checking in on Halloween to show you my favorite decoration ever.  You have all seen it before, but who cares?   I promise to catch up on your happenings this weekend.  Have a great day.

Wow, that is incredible $45 for a pumpkin. They are selling them locally to me for about £6 which is about $9, a big difference but we don't tend to do as much as other countries for Halloween. Little Buddy is looking gorgeous as always hope he is feeling better soon.

I do love all your witchy Halloween decs! How lovely to get to spend time with Lynda, even if Little Buddy wasn't feeling well - and we'll forgive him for being grumpy just because he is so darn cute ;-)
Hugs xx

Difficult to believe that Little Buddy is in a grump in that picture - he looks like he's in pumpkin heaven! $45 for a pumpkin!!!! Good heavens - maybe you could try growing some of your own next year - you could sell them and make a fortune! Love your decorations x Jane

I love all of your witches! And I don't have a single one. I will have to remedy that. :)

Hi Meredith!

Thanks for the LB photo, he doesn't seem too grumpy to me, so well done for catching the right moment!!!

Seems crazy they charge so much for a pumpkin!!!! Must be big business!

Glad you managed to see your friend and please send her my best wishes for getting better!!!

Well, I reckon you might have enough Halloween decorations to start your own little shop there!! If you do need to add to it, it should only be crafted ones, such as a crochet/knit pumpkin!!!

Hope the week goes well for you,
hard to believe where the time goes!
Love and hugs!

Wow that is very expensive for a pumpkin!!

LB doesn't look the least bit grumpy in the picture, I think he loves the camera!

Your friend sounds amazing, all the very best to her.

Loving the Halloween décor, we have just done a big clean up so that we can start decorating in earnest.

Keep all those fun decorations coming! I LOVE halloween. Poor little boy with a cold.....grumpy is to be expected eh? Glad Lynda is well and you are enjoying the visit. No pumpkin is worth 45 dollars when it could be used to buy yarn!

I am shocked, $45 for a pumpkin! I have seen smallish ones for £1 in the supermarket here. I am not a big fan of Halloween even though this custom originated in Scotland. Snuffy noses make children (and mums) cranky. My house is full of them just now. Enjoy the rest of the week. xx

I love a pumpkin patch photo! I am wishing your friend good health and little buddy too. But honestly I easily get tired and cranky for lesser reasons.

I love your Halloween decorations, is it wrong, I think it looks like the black cat is pooping out a ghost? HA! I like it! don't get me wrong!

All the best, Mere!

I know what you mean about de-cluttering, I have been doing that too. Room by room I am keeping things that I love and donating things to charity that take something away from the things I love. I am reading that sentence back to myself and it seems odd but I know what I mean and maybe you do too.
How very clever of you to capture Mr Cranky's smile ... I hope he feels better soon.
Pumpkins are selling in our markets at around £3 - £4 each, I think that's around $6 - $8. What a difference in pricing. I would say that they're cheaper here because the demand for them is probably quite low. I have cooked pumpkin in the past but to be honest I am not a lover of it as a food.

Here's wishing everyone who celebrates Halloween a fun a spooky time

Take care xx

Love that green-faced witch! Man, those pumpkins are sure costly in FLA! I wonder why? We had pumpkin soup in Germany, and it was quite tasty. (And I'm not a fan of pumpkin pie.) Hope LB is feeling better, your friend also. Been there.

I do hope that Little Buddy feels better soon. We can all feel grumpy and crappy at times. He will bounce back soon I am sure. (hoping i do as well!)
I am so glad for you and your dear friend that you have had some time together. I can tell that you are both so special to each other. She would be there in an instant for you as you have been for her. Loving friendships, history and attachments
are such gifts...not to be taken lightly..as you both know.
Sending love your way and appreciation for you. xoxo, e.

Hi Meredith,
Just catching up on your last few posts. I love the wooden witch face! All of your decorations are really cute! Trick or treat is tomorrow night here. We are ready! My life life long friend was visiting from St. Louis and we had a really fun time. The weather was wonderful...cold front came through late yesterday but today it is nice but cooler. Little buddy is so cute! He was really enjoying the ponies and the train! Happy Halloween!
Hugs, Patti

Lots of decorations! Thanks for sharing with us Meredith. I've also been trying to declutter this year. Carloads to the thrift shops and I still have way too much stuff. Poor little guy. I can sympathize since I also have a stuffy nose and a bit of a cough. I hope he feels better soon so your friend can experience his normal happy self. Gosh that's a LOT for a pumpkin. I think I'm overpaying when they're more than $5.00. I won't complain anymore.
Blessings,
Betsy

What a great friend you have! I love your decorations - I don't get to decorate like I used to before having a 5 and 6 year old living with us.. but I have enjoyed putting some things up. When I get home from the beach, they go into a box and I'll bring some Turkey day stuff out. Hope LB gets well fast.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Love your halloween decorations, and those pumpkins look huge!! we've just come back from holiday in the south and there we found a pumpkin farm - first time i've ever seen one in france - they were selling them for 50 centimes per kg. We bought a few but they are not such a lovely orange as the ones you have in the US and are much flatter!
Last year we spent halloween in italy which was great fun but this year we are spending it with some friends from the US, who are into it in a big way!!!
Hope Little Buddy is feeling well enough to enjoy some halloween candy!!!
Have a good one.

I can see why you especially like those decorations - they are adorable!

Wish you could shop for pumpkins up here - my sister's MIL grows them every year and they are only a few dollars.

LB is adorable even when cranky (at least from the photos). I spent some time with a cranky little runny-nosed guy last week. He was adorable too. :)

$45 for a pumpkin? The seeds inside must be made from gold.

That's so nice that your friend was able to come for a visit. I'm sure she enjoyed being around Little Buddy, even if he was a bit cross because he was sick. She sounds like an amazing person.

Goodness, that's an expensive pumpkin. I think I shall move to Florida and start a pumpkin farm. Sorry to hear your little man has been under the weather, I do hope he's feeling better soon. You have some absolutely fantastic Hallowe'en decorations. That first witch is so funny, I love her. I hope you have a good weekend, with some time for yourself. CJ xx

I am glad that you had a nice time with your friend even if Buddy wasn't his usual charming self. I was shocked at the price of your pumpkins, I thought that the large ones at our garden centre at £7.99 - about $12 dollars - was a lot so I chose a smaller one that was cheaper, but gosh, nothing like yours. No wonder you chose a small one, I don't blame you. I hope that you have had a good Halloween today. xx
