Five on Friday

I am linking with Amy and her Five on Friday project.  It is a nice way to sum up your week, and look for the positive.

The last two years I have gone to an art show in Tarpon Springs with my friend Cathy and we buy beautiful crochet beaded jewelry.  I love what I have bought so far and wear them all the time.  I don't treat myself all that much but I do this for myself once a year.  Cathy found out she was not available the weekend of the up coming art show and we were both crushed.  We look forward to this all year long.  Cathy emailed the lovely Kristi of Denim & Pearl and she told us she would be in town for a Olive and Wine festival this past weekend.  We took Little Buddy along with us and I bought three lovely beaded bracelets.  I am in love with them.  Now I am not sure why her prices are so high on her etsy store, not sure if it is an error because these were only $15 each, and the long wrap bracelets were her normal $35.  If you want one I would email her and ask her about her pricing.

A few days ago I saw two of my strawberries getting nice and ripe.  I went out this morning to cut them off and this is what I found.

Two missing ripe strawberries with some ripe strawberry residue on the ground, I think I know who is a big strawberry lover in this family and waited just for them to be perfectly ripe.......Max!

My flowers are blooming especially after a nice little rain shower early this morning.  If I could pick these and give you all a little posy I would in thanks for your lovely get well wishes for Little Buddy.  He is back at school today after three days at home.  He lost a lot of weight and he is paler than ever but he is back to laughing, smiling and playing, hooray for that.

I started working on my new project Jordan by Vicki Chan.  After a little issue getting the back and front center exactly in the center I am on a roll.  I have learned to love crochet chart reading, I think it is so much faster.  I love this pattern and hope it is a bit larger when it is blocked.  I am already thinking of making another one, you know me I have to make at least two of something.

My loom has be returned from my SIL who apparently does not think weaving is for her.  Maybe it was her teacher (me).  Regardless I felt a loss when it wan't in my office/studio.  I am happy to have it back right where it belongs.

Hope you are having a great day and please join Amy for Five on Friday for some Friday fun.

Happy Friday Meredith! Yay for little Buddy back at school. I'm sorry he's lost so much weight but you'll fatten him up in no time. Lots of chocolate helps. :-) Love your new project. It's going to be lovely. I'm not huge on charts, they confuse me. Ha! Give me a good old fashioned written patter anyday.
Ha Ha Max! He is a sneaky one isn't he? But with that face he could get away with anything with me. Gotta love a dog with good taste. Strawberries are a favorite of mine too.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend. Hubby and I get to sleep at the lake tonight for the first time this season. I'm busy packing and packing.
Blessings always,
Betsy

HI Meredith, I love the jewelry purchases, a girl needs a little something now and again. I know how you feel about the strawberries, I never seem to get to my cherry tree which is small before the fruit I have been watching then disappears on me. Glad Buddy is feeling better. Have a great weekend.

I have a dog who loves anything fruity or veggie. I wonder is Max discovered them earlier and was just waiting for them to ripen to his liking? Too funny to think about that being in his thoughts. At least it's funny to me. I love your new lacy project with the pineapples!! FUN!

So Max is a strawberry lover? Oh gosh ....that makes him even MORE adorable!

Glad Little Buddy is feeling better.

Have a great weekend. Maybe you can snitch a berry or two before Max gets to them.

Okay, Meredith... I have become obsessed with the wrap around bracelets! LOL! Now, that I see this one, I'm sure I need to gather more supplies. Ha! I must go on a search for good beads and buttons... and maybe some interesting yarn/thread/stuff! I've also been looking at some of Vicky Chan's patterns wondering if I could possibly do one (you know I am a newbie crocheter). I can't wait to see this one finished.

I am really sorry you didn't get to go to the show you usually did with your friend... I LOVE that pink and white on your loom. =) ENABLING at its finest here today. Thank you. blessings ~ tanna

I'm happy to hear that LB is better and back in school and all is back to normal.. I guess you need to get him some big yummy cookies to put some weight back on him. I adore your bracelet.. I probably could make one as I have a ton of beads and pearls.. someday. Funny about her price differences. I *LOVE* that top.. and the sagey color.. it's very classy, m'dear. I'm glad you got your loom back.. no more loaning it out.. LOL! Really pretty weaving you're doing on it. Have a super weekend.. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

What a gorgeous bracelet, it makes up a little for not being able to go to the show. Hopefully you can go next year. A shame you weren't quick enough to taste a ripe strawberry. You'll have to be faster next time! Gorgeously clever crochet, you are SO good at it. I'm very glad your Little Buddy is well enough to go back to school. I hope you and yours have a lovely weekend Meredith. CJ xx

I'm glad Buddy has recovered enough to return to school, it must be a relief for you. That jewellery is gorgeous & as for that top - you are very clever. Way beyond my crochet skills x

Hi Meredith, hope you are having a good Sat. Love the new crochet and weaving projects you have going on. I think I would like weaving, I wonder how you got into that? Do you use the same type of yarn for weaving as for knitting and crochet, or is it more fine? I'm glad your LB is feeling better. I know others being sick can take a toll on the caregiver also, I hope you get the rest you need. Have a great day my friend, Heather

That Max, what a scamp! In the summer, our Alfie always pulls on his leash to sniff the tomatoes. I have to watch him or he'd snatch them all! Glad Little Buddy is feeling better.

Poor Little Buddy. I hope he's back to normal soon. Your bracelet is really pretty. I love the turquoise beads in it. The strawberry is very exciting! I can't wait until my strawberries come in. I get about thirty of them each year, tops, and they're tiny, but they're so delicious!

Hope Little Buddy continues to recover! The crochet jewellery is beautiful, I'll have to keep my eye out for something similar :) The top looks great, I can't follow patterns to save my life :S x

So glad Little Buddy is feeling better! And Max eating your strawberries! I want to hug your dog. :)

So glad Little Buddy is back in school and feeling better. The strawberry issue is funny. My daughter's dog loves the tops; she doesn't care much for the berry itself. That top is gorgeous. I am learning to read crochet charts. I've never, ever used them before; just followed the written instructions, but I'm finding using charts is easy. I'm doing a CAL from Yarnspiratons on the Crochet Club and Mikey does a tutorial for each week's clue and it makes following the chart easy. Have a great day.
Hugs,
Sharon

So glad to hear that Buddy is better now. It takes awhile to get over being sick. Right now we are having allergy issues with all the spring flowers blooming at once. lovely day out again! I like your bracelet. I enjoy jewelry made by people locally rather than store bough if I can help it. I have some nice pieces that way! Have a good weekend!

I'm late as usual but love your post, the bracelet is beautiful and so is your crochet and it's good to have more than one thing if it turns out nice and you like it. Pity about the strawberries haha they are going to have to be guarded, it's usually the slugs that get mine. I'm glad Max it feeling better. :) xx

Glad to hear little Buddy is better! I simply love the crochet top. My crocheting skills are weak , and I'm not sure I could do that. It's going to be pretty.
I love these table looms. the piece on it us pretty. I've promised myself to try it someday.

What a beautiful loom, with a beautiful project on it. I have always wanted to try weaving but find the big looms overwhelming and the tiny looms unpractical. this one looks like it would be rather versitile.
