A busy weekend at home.....................

How do weekends become so busy?  My husband was away for 48 hours and I thought I had all the time in the world, but time has sure flown by.  This weekend was about tying up loose ends.  I spent a large amount of time Saturday morning getting my house in order, cleaning floors and bathrooms just to get a handle everything before I start a very, very busy week with two new evaluations to fit into my busy schedule at work.  After cleaning, Little Buddy and I went to Joann's, I had to get a new crochet hook.  I was a bit startled that I did not have a hook in every size.   After finding the  hook in need, I had the great idea that Little Buddy needed some bigger blankets.  He loves those very soft lightweight flannel blankets for babies.  He is much too big for those now, so down the baby aisle we went to find suitable fabric.

After a quick wash and dry I cut these blankets out and finished them by making a very simple serged edge.  Now Little Buddy has a blanket that will cover all of him and Mickey Mouse, too!  And I had a office/studio space that had to be cleaned again!

I started on my new project which is what I needed that new hook for.  Funny thing is the new hook was still the wrong gauge, so now I am using a D hook that I already had.

I used nap time on Friday and Saturday afternoon to finish the project on my loom.  Listening to Sycamore Row by John Grisham made the time fly by.  I gave this table runner a good soaking and it is now trying to dry outside in our heat and humidity.  I am not sure it is making much progress.

Little Buddy and my Teenager spent a while in the pool.  Little Buddy was so excited, and Max was barking his head off like a crazy dog.  He does not like people to be in the pool and when anyone goes underwater he gets a bit crazy.  He is so brave he will only step into the pool on the top step.  He does not like to swim.

Little Buddy's aunts came by this morning so I could go for a nice long walk.  They played with him while I was gone and when I got back they all went in the pool.  He had the best time and I think they did, too.  Little Buddy is so pale, we call him Vampire Baby.  He looks especially pale when held by his very tan aunts.  I think that he will be taking a very long nap this afternoon.  They will be leaving soon to return to Wisconsin for the summer, it will be hard on my little guy to not have them around.  It will be hard on me too as I depend on them to stay with him when he is ill and I have to work, or to take him to an appointment every now and again.

Max is exhausted, all these lifeguard duties can wear a boy out.

Thank you all for your kind words about the anniversary of my Mother's death.  She is not suffering and in a much better place, so in many ways I am extremely thankful she is no longer here, but I miss my Mom, the one I had growing up and into adulthood.  I am blessed she was so wonderful.

Hope you have all had a terrific weekend.

It looks as though everyone had a good time! Buddy does look very pale compared to his aunts doesn't he, but as though he is having a lot of fun!! It is funny that Max doesn't like anyone to swim in the pool as most dogs like to swim don't they, he obviously makes a good lifeguard though. The rest, well, you know already! xx

Love the table runner, such a stunning piece of work. Some great shots of Little Buddy and family, his little face always cheers me. You have certainly had a busy weekend.

I am laughing at Max, the wannabe lifeguard dog. The pictures of Little Buddy and his big brother put a smile on my face.

I missed your post about the anniversary of your mom's death. Having gone through his with my dad, I know the emotions these dates can bring out. Hugs to you....

Oooo, that table runner! So pretty. Is that peach or pink? It's hard to tell and I keep changing my mind what color it is. Whichever it is (or in-between), it's really pretty. You must be getting good on that loom. I loved seeing LB's happy face in the pool. I know that must be great for his legs to be moving in that water. Poor Max. That's a sweet picture of him nosing and making sure LB is okay after being in the water. Sweet Max. I wish I could kiss his nose and face and rub his ears. Good luck making Jamie. That yarn sure is a gorgeous color! I downloaded the pattern for Ariane, but not sure when I'll make it. Have a good, quick week!

Oh, that Little Buddy's face is so full of pure joy. He has two very beautiful aunts, that's for sure.
Maybe it's a good thing that Max does not like to swim. I can imagine that long dog hair would be hard on the pool filter. Now, if my two Newfies were there, they'd be in the pool all the time and would be pulling Little Buddy to the "shore".
Missing a mother is so hard, I know.
Love to you, Ellen.

It looks like Little Buddy is having so much fun. I can see why you will all miss his aunts, it's a shame they will be moving, but I hope you'll adjust quickly. Dear Max, I think he worries when people leave dry land. Wishing you and yours a good week. CJ xx

Wow you are so busy and I feel I'm kinda lazy lately about cleaning. I am picking at stuff to downsize junky spots. A bit of work each day helps alot. Buddy and pool time looks fun. Glad his tan aunts had fun with him as I'm sure he had fun as well. Sorry for the loss of your mom. I haven't read that post since I've been gone and back again and haven't caught up yet. I was thinking about my mom who died early July of 2014. Something reminded me of her this a.m. and made me think of our joy and struggles in her last months of life. I am thankful she has a new body that is no longer suffering in heaven! Hold on to the memories in these times of sadness and be thankful for your mom. Hugs and prayers, my friend across the miles! :0}

Hi,
I love the photos in the pool.
That has to be great fun to jump in on a hot day.
Our weather is getting better here in Wisconsin. We will not be swimming outside for awhile. :-)

This is such a happy post. Full of joy and love. I so enjoyed watching little buddy swim with his brother and his aunts. I can only imagine how much you miss them when they're gone. All moms need a break now and then. The blankets are so special that you make for him. I never thought of making bigger ones. I may have to do that for little miss Piper.
Blessings always Merideth,
Betsy

I think that when you think you have a whole 2 days ahead of you, plenty of time, it always goes even quicker! I always love to see photos of LB, esp with his big brothers, and his aunts too this time. He is one lucky, happy boy. I'm sure your aunts will be sorely missed. Have a good week

It really doesn't matter if we "have" a lot of time, Mere. It's never enough! It sounds like vampire baby had an excellent swimming pool weekend though it stressed poor Max out. You think he's projecting his own swimming issues onto others in a protective way? hehe.

I find it so sweet that the teenager makes effort, love and time for LB. Sure someone is supposed to in theory ... but to show and do in real life is so much more. thanks for sharing your lovely weekend!

Weekends really do fly. Actually, my work days do, too. That is one thing I love about my job.

Little Buddy is quite pale, He'd fit right in in Wisconsin about now.

Time sure does fly and I have missed commenting on your posts! I love your new crochet project and the runner is so pretty!! Poor Max , he has a big responsibility keeping everyone safe and sound. Isn't it great your two boys can get in the water and have so much fun together. I'm sure you will miss the Aunties but maybe they will be back next winter.

The anniversaries of the passing of our lioved ones is hard. So many memories, some good and some so sad. My mom had dementia and there was like two deaths with her. It still saddens me still. I am sending you a big virtual hug. Xox

Wonderful pictures of everyone in the pool. Buddy looks like he's having a terrific time. Max, so funny.

I love looking at the baby flannels. Lucky you to have a reason to buy them! I love all flannel, so cozy. I made a flannel tablecloth for our Christmas table last year. Unorthodox, but I just loved it.
