Five on Friday

This has been a heck of a week.  Thank you all for your kind thoughts and well wishes for me to get through it intact.  I did, and I am so grateful.  All the new children I work with have been evaluated and those evaluations submitted.  I saw three extra kids this week which does not sound like a lot but it is with the extra driving and all those hours on the computer trying to get them qualified for therapy.  I was almost euphoric yesterday afternoon as I faxed my last report in.  So today I decided to just try and breath, to notice things that make me happy that I had not been able to notice all week long.  This morning I went out to breakfast with my dear friend Holly, caught up over tea and Florentine Benedict, yum!!!  I stopped by the market and picked up Little Buddy from school.  I plan on staying home now and just try to recuperate from the week I had.

My new rose bush is on its second blooming cycle.  It must love its new home on my patio.  I cut this beauty to have on my desk.  I can smell it as I write this post.

Dreaming of a new weaving project.  Dreaming is half the fun of making something. Should it be a shawl?  Or maybe a table runner for my own table?

Looking forward to working on my Jamie crochet vest.  The color is very interesting.  I am not sure if this one will be for me or my niece.  The pattern is very easy to follow, I am enjoying my time with it, that is when I can actually get time with it.

Watching the crochet flowers I put up in my window every Spring, spin around slowly.  Little Buddy loves to look at them when he is eating his lunch or dinner.  We talk about the shape and colors.  The other day he told me something was a half circle and something else was a crescent, watch out this is one smart boy I have.

Thinking of the generosity of blogging friends.  The doily from Pammy Sue is sitting proudly on my dining room table with a wooden loon that was my MIL's.  I walk by this all the time and think how blessed I am for the friends I have made out there in blogland.  And I mean I am blessed by all of you!

Smelling my beautiful gardenias which have bloomed early this year.  They have been blooming for a couple of weeks already.  I had the first blooms in the house but they are strong and started making me feel all stuffed up, so now I just visit them when I stroll outside.

I know that is six, but I am trying to be positive and grateful, so you get Six on Friday.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.  I am linking with Amy for Five on Friday, pop in and visit and you can link, too.

  2. I agree, planning a project is as much fun as actually following it through. I love your crochet flowers and the gardenias don't look real.
Enjoy a relaxing weekend after such a busy week (I nearly said peaceful but I know that is tricky with a young boy in the house!)

  5. I am very grateful to have six good things to share with you on Friday!!! How wonderful. They are all such good things, but I think that the relaxing for the weekend and spending time with friends have to be the very best, although who could put any of these into an order I do not know!!! Buddy really is a very clever soul isn't he, I see great things in his future! I hope that you do have a great and relaxing weekend! Thank you so much for joining in! xx

  6. Love that Jamie vest. I downloaded that pattern last year; is it hard? Your roses are on their second bloom? Wow, ours won't bloom till June, probably. And it's been unusually mild here. have a peaceful weekend!

  8. Happy Friday Meredith! What an absolutely happy post, full of contentment. That little guy is going to give you a run for your money isn't he? Smart and cute...a deadly combination. :-) I saw where your last table runner was sent. Lucky Claudia to have a sister as generous as you are. Isn't it funny? I almost feel like some of my blogging friends are like sisters to me. I love each one of you and feel like I'm part of your family.
I think I want to make some flowers like yours to spin around happily while I watch. Maybe for next spring.
I hope your weekend is a restful and happy one for you Meredith.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. I forgot to tell you how much I enjoyed the loon figure on the doily from Pammy Sue. Did you know that the lake I love so much and our trailer is at is named Loon Lake? You don't see loon figurines much anywhere either but I like to watch them at the lake, especially in the early summer.
    Happy Friday my dear friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. Oh those gardenias are exquisite, love them. Well done on making it through such a busy week, you're a star. I love that pink yarn, it's absolutely delicious, and your stitching is perfection. I shall look forward to seeing it finished. I hope you have a lovely weekend Meredith, with plenty of rest and relaxation (or as much as Little Buddy will allow). It will be very well deserved. 14. What a week, but you made it and now for a little down time. I love gardenia's but their fragrance is so strong I usually enjoy them outside also. What a cute idea to hang crochet circles in the windows. That Little Buddy is a smart one for sure.

  15. There is a live webcam of a loon next in MN. It is at MNBound.com. Little Buddy and you might enjoy seeing a real loon, not that the wooden one isn't special. I love your yellow rose, my favorite!

  21. Hope you are able to have a relaxing weekend. I was going to join Five on Friday, but then had a 6 hour cleaning spree that left me feeling anything but happy. :( Sad part is, I barely really got to everything that needs cleaning and sorting. Ugh! My gardenias bloomed, too. Hugs and blessings, Tammy

  25. The gardenias are so delightful that I can smell them here. I do love them, but they might like it a little warmer in the winter.

  26. When I was working, just the thought of all the shifts was overwhelming me ...Im so glad you got through your tough week. When is OHIO son coming home for summer? Or is he?
Its glorious here Mere. 70s, Im on the porch and Im ready to knit soon.
We've waiting for what seems like forever for this porch time and spring to be here!!!
Somehow its great that there is a new Royal baby, but the way you got your BABY Lil Buddy is even more spectacular than a royal.

  27. Hi Meredith, sorry I've been absent from your blog lately. I'm just trying to catch up. I really love the hanging flowers in the window! That is such a pretty decoration. I love how they look and how nice that you're using them to teach Little Buddy about colors. I hope life settles down for your a bit soon. Take care and have a good weekend.

  28. Yay, you survived, and are thriving Meredith! You continue to amaze and inspire me. I had two of the flowers you crocheted for me propped up in my flower garden window and now I am wondering if I could let them dangle and dance and maybe make some other shapes in other colors...a yarny stained glass effect like what you have done. My cotton thread hearts I had dangling in the window faded :( ....so I will have to think about what yarn to use.....
While I am sorry your gardenias made your head feel stuffed up, they are my all time favorite flower. Were I able to grow them or have them in my home however I might find they make my head feel stuffed up too......but I would like to find out :)
Wishing you and yours a restful, refreshing weekend! xx
