Storms......................

It has been raining everyday for 26 days in a row.  And I mean raining with big storms, crashes of thunder, and big bolts of lightening.

These photos are from a week ago on a Saturday morning at 9 AM.  That is right, 9 in the morning, but it looks like it is well into nighttime.  These could have been taken yesterday or even this morning, the weather has been like this for days and days.

Everyone is sick of the weather but me, I absolutely love it.  Now I am not thrilled about when I am popping in and out of houses where I work with bags full of toys, but when I can stay home and hangout with the thunder booming, and the rain falling, I am so happy.  I get so much more accomplished around the house, and I seem so less stressed.  I get more time to do things I like because I feel like I can't venture out in the rain with Little Buddy where we will both get completely soaked getting in and out of his car seat.  I live in the wrong area, I should live in the Pacific Northwest where it is rainy so much of the year.  I would be in Heaven.

So sorry for all of you vacationing in Florida right now, you are not getting the best weather to see the beach or to go to theme parks.  Hang in there, this can't last forever, and remember your raincoats.

I wanted to show you Little Buddy sitting in a treasure of mine.  This chair was in my Grandmother's farmhouse when she was growing up.  It was in my shared bedroom when I was little, with my Mother's old Shirley Temple doll sitting in it.  I  kept it safe when my older two were little, they were a little more destructive than this little one of mine, so I only let them sit in it with direct supervision, Little Buddy is a bit easier on things.

It is finally the perfect height for this sweet one.  He loves to sit in it and rock, "all by myself."  I have no idea how old this chair is, but it warms my heart to see this precious boy of mine sitting in this family heirloom.  He is a special part of my family, and now has a history with this chair, too.

A special thanks to Kathy B for sending Little Buddy some very fun photos this week.  He loved seeing all of them and thinks you are the best!  So do I!!!!

We have had two successes on the potty the last two evenings, keep your fingers crossed we are moving in the right direction.  He is very slow in the potty department, but we will get there.

Have a great week and enjoy your weather!

I like your photos of the storms. I like storms when I am home. But I am not happy when it storms when I am away from home. ;-)

Love the photos of Little Buddy.

My friend in Ft. Myers calls me just about every week. They have had plenty of rain too, plenty of grass mowing. She said the wind is really blowing now. Your pics do look just like late evening time. Some people get depressed when the weather is like that, the days on end of deary cast over skies and damp rain. It never bothered me either, the perfect excuse to remain inside and get some stuff done that otherwise is pushed to the side. Your little guy is growing and looks to be thriving. My little grandson took well over 2 months to potty train. There for awhile I was wondering if he would ever get the whole process down pat. What a relief. It did help to know the stories other folks told about their experiences in that department. I know there was a brief period when my daughter thought he would never get it. The chair is definitely a keepsake. I have a rocking chair in my living room from the girls but it doesn't have the antique history yours has. It was down in the basement for many years. We forgot about it and bought our little guy one from the Cracker Barrel. One day I brought it up, cleaned it up and into the front room it went. Holden sits in it from time to time. It is his if he wants it. It is nice to be blogging again. I have been busy and a slacker. Just too much to do.

If it makes you feel any better, you wouldn't be getting much rain if you lived in the Pacific Northwest. They are in the midst of a drought. I'm glad you are enjoying all that rain, and finding nice ways to spend your time. Little Buddy looks like he was made for that chair! I wonder about his leg braces though. Do you find they scratch wood? My son David's prosthetic leg seems to damage everything it comes in contact with, from socks to kitchen cupboards.

I really think you and your family needs to move here. :-) You'd love it! I adored the photos of our little guy in the family heirloom rocking chair. BRAVO to him on his potty training! That will be such a wonderful thing for you! We are taking the family to PF Changs for dinner to thank them for taking such good care of our dog and the house and garden while we were away. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Sometimes on vacation in Florida I would run into rain, but I sorta loved it! Anyway, glad you are enjoying it. Love LB in the rocking chair. Just so darn sweet! Makes my heart happy.

You would love Oregon. But right now we have been rainless for quite some time. There are clouds out and about but no rain falling quite yet. It would be great if it did for a bit. An old rocking chair is such a good thing and it holds memories for you as well. Have a good week!

I am a rain loving person too. There is just something extremely cozy about rainy weather. We have a little heirloom rocker in our attic. So, so sweet to see your boy yours!

I can't believe all the rain! Is that what it looks like? We're just getting a lot of fires here.
That darling chair is just right. So nice the little guy can use it.
Stay dry!

I, too, love the rain. Can't wait until my porch is finished and I can sit out there when it is raining.

Little Buddy looks so cute in that chair. Looks like it was made from him.

Yeah yeah well done little bud ,potty training 👍🏻can take so long. But he'll get there'. Like u I don't mind the rain except when on vacation. The last three years we've visited Florida it's rained so very hard, storms tornado it frightened me .i'd never experienced it before . It didn't stop me coming back though so I guess I quite like it .
Love that little chair is being used by generations of your family that's the stuff of great stories .

That chair is so perfect for him! What a wonderful history it has and now another precious soul that the chair has held and rocked. I love it...and him. Gosh, you guys are getting all of our rain. We are SO dry there are fires everywhere. We even had to come home from the lake yesterday because the smoke was so bad our eyes were stinging and tearing. Breathing the air couldn't be good either. We need rain desperately.
I, too, love to be home when it's storming outside. Enjoy dear Meredith.
Blessings,
Betsy

Hi,Meredith!
I love rainy weather too :) I miss rain so much; here the temperatures are areound 43 degrees C with clear skies. The sea water is so warm,I can swear I sweat in it!
Potty training is hard. My Little MAn was an easy one; we are having problems with my sister's son.
That is a lovely chair ,by the way...
Hugs,
Gaia.

What a lovely little chair, and it fits Little Buddy perfectly. I love the rain too, as you say it removes a lot of the stress of feeling you should be out doing something. There's nothing like the feeling of being inside while the rain tips down and thunder crashes around, wonderful. CJ xx

The weather looks atrocious, I certainly hope it clears up by the time we visit in October. Love the chair with all its history, great that the next generation is using it. Well done Little Buddy with the potty training. Daisy and Wilbur are training at the moment with some success but a lot of wet pants.

Little Buddy is just so cute in the chair. What a wonderful heirloom. Enjoy your storms, I think they are magical when you're safely ensconced in the home.

Wow, those are some storms you're having! I love rain and dark weather too, so I understand you: I feel SO much better when it's cold and cloudy, I enjoy the sun only when I have to spend a day out on the mountains, where thunderstorms can be dangerous... : )
Bravo to Little Buddy, btw, and how nice it is that he gets to use that old family chair, so sweet... xx

I miss a good thunderstorm now and then. Here it just drizzles, or pours down, or is vaguely dry with a whiff of fustiness. The little chair is adorable and just perfect for Little Buddy just now. I am glad he is not a destructive little boy. xx

I don't mind stormy weather either, as long as I'm indoors ;-)!
LB in the rocking chair is so sweet, he looks gentle too.

Oh my I didn't realize your area was getting so much rain. we went through that for several months from about march to part of July here. rainy days are really nice but sometimes enough is enough lol
Little Buddy is a sweetie-I can see how he would really enjoy the rocking chair. Hoping the sunshine returns soon

Bless LB! He is part of the family history now.

Yes, bring on the rain! We could really use some here. It's so soothing to stay in on a grey day, listening to the drumming of drops, and enjoy being productive indoors. :)

I'm with you, when I can stay indoors on a rainy day, I'm in heaven. It's just about my favorite thing to do. We've had an unusually rainy summer and our grass and plants are growing like crazy. I'm not used to it. I love the little chair and Little Buddy looks so happy in it. I love the photo of him looking at the cat photo, he's clearly very excited. Hope you have a good week, Meredith.

My sister lives in Bradenton..I just talked to her...I don't know if I could deal with all the rain..but being as we are on the Ohio river..all that rain would cause some real problems...As long as you don't have web feet go out and jump in the puddles..hugs

Wow! The weather is so unusual these days. We have had so little rain and it is very dry. You can feel free to send some rain my way when you get tired of it. Nice to see little Buddy looking so cute. xx

Oooo, those storm photos do look like it's nighttime. Honestly I'm so jealous of all your rain (hello, California!) I'm glad you have little buddy to keep you company in all the stormy weather. Kathy B is the best just a dear heart. That's a cute photo of Little buddy looking at Fezzick. hehe.

Yesterday I got home from a terrific week of tenting at the beach and am just now enjoying a visit with you, Meredith :) The shawl is truly lovely in every way. You are already making good use of your new loom with your wonderful bargain thread! I am hankering for some rainy days and am glad you are enjoying yours. Yay, for Little Buddy's PT progress, his delight in Kathy B's photos, his enjoying the special family chair and his generously throwing us all kisses. Please thank him for the one I caught :) xx

Those stormy photos look very impressive. I don't mind the rain but only if we have some dry days in amongst it all too and we all go a bit daft when we get some sunshine! Personally, I think people who say they love rain do so because it's not the norm for them. When you stay somewhere rainy it's not that great tbh. But it does have its advantages. If we always had warm sunny weather here then I hate to think how many more people would want to live or holiday here and how much the place would be altered as a result. I like staying somewhere most other people don't though it's not too extreme, there are enough other people living here too! I've had several friends leave to live elsewhere, the main reason being that they can't take the dull, cool, rainy weather any longer. However, the other attractions (beautiful scenery, space, etc) more than compensate for the poor weather in my mind.

Love little buddy's new/old chair, it looks perfect for him.

LB just gets cuter and cuter! It is wonderful to see him in the family chair.

And some people say that there is no such thing as climate change. We got hailed on driving to Door County! The entire Peninsula lost power. Did you know that you can't flush toilets on wells without electricity? Ask me how I know!

I to love a rainy day. Just listening to it gives a peceful feeling. Great for knitting or crocheting.
Glad to know you are not in the flooded area. I live in Z-Hills so we had no flooding just rainy day after rainy day
You old rocker is priceless !

Here in Ireland we're having an enormous amount of rain and it's as cold add it would be in September. The weather has been so strange this year. Our summer lasted only about three weeks. I'll happily sit in and knit in these days but it's so hard on the kids because it's the holidays. We're very optimistic here and always hope that the good weather will come next week. Fingers crossed.

Chris said...

Well it's hotter and drier in Canada than in Florida this summer!! Send up some rain please!! I grew up on the Coast, it's probably why I knit so much when we lived there. It's comfy and cozy to be in on a rainy day!

What a treasure that rocking chair is. Little Buddy certainly looks as if he really enjoys it.
We have had an unprecedented dry spell this spring and summer. And...lots of heat for us. The fire danger level is at the highest and the water in our creek so low. The lack of water is a concern for sure as that is how we irrigate our nursery. We have been here for 35 years in this part of the PNW and it has never been like this before.
Have a lovely weekend. xoxo Ellen.
