Determined...................

This is one very determined little boy.  Sometimes he is getting very opinionated, and demanding, as well as determined.  Most of the time he makes me laugh, although I try not to show him that.  He was a bit too determined to get into his friends business at school this past Wednesday.  I was in a big hurry to get to work when I picked him up and the teacher approached me with this bit of information.  She is very sweet, and I like her a lot, but I had to remind her that he has no idea how to play with children.  That is the school's job.   He is a, "therapy baby" as I like to call them.  A little person who has played with therapists for years but not with children their own age.  He will figure it all out because he is one smart cookie.

I am determined to work on this baby blanket this weekend.  I love the yarn, Modern Cotton by Berroco, in the colors Gadwell (grey) and Sandy Point (cream).  This yarn is so soft and lovely to work with.  It is perfect for this ripple baby blanket.  I would definitely use this yarn again for a sweater, it would be so yummy to put on.   Actually I plan on spending most of my afternoon with my feet tucked up under me on the sofa, stitching away while watching college football.  I am determined to rest this weekend.  I have been running on fumes for so long I have forgotten what a rested body feels like.  This past week was no exception with four solid days of work, over 400 miles driven for work, and two very lengthy re-evaluations to write up.  Do you ever feel just bone tired, almost like the fatigue is so deep it is in your bones?  Today I am forcing myself to rest, relax, drink tea, read blogs and crochet, we will see how that goes.

Miss Spider could also teach me a thing or two about being determined and of course being a hard worker.  I make sure to go and talk to her every day.  I know I feel a bit like Wilber in Charlotte's Web, I am getting a tad to attached to her.  She has definitely had her babies as she is much thinner than last week.  She is darker too.  I am afraid her days are numbered, so I tell her how magnificent she is everyday.  I know you probably think I am a bit cuckoo talking to a spider.  I also talk to deer when I pass them on the road and ask them to stay exactly where they are and not run into the street.  I even talk to my plants, the wee little frogs and toads living on my back deck, and of course turtles I see crossing the road.  I stop my car if at all possible and move them myself so they are clear of traffic.

I am determined to catch up with all of you.  Seems like I am always saying that, but I fear I will be lagging behind in blog reading for some time to come.  The school/work schedule leaves little time for any type of break.  I must remember to smell my one and only rose when I can, and I must remember to rest, rest, rest this weekend.  I hope you are rested, relaxed and having a great weekend.

I'm so glad to hear that you're resting up. I am determined to join you in this quest for rest-itude. This last week was wonderful and stressful and I'm just plain dead tired. So, I vow to join you with my feet up and crocheting on a very similar thing.. a cotton ripple in cream and beige - the wedding gift I need to finish because I have 3 baby girls coming that will need pink booties. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Enjoy your relaxing weekend, it sounds like you really need it. The crochet blanket looks so soft, it must be lovely to crochet.
Little Buddy will soon learn how to play with other children, he seems so clever and I love his determination. Love to you all, Janet x

Do take every opportunity to just hang out, rest and be as still as that spider. I don't think you are at all cuckoo..I get ridiculously happy watching "my" chipmunk, talking to the little green peepers..on and on. I truly had a spider in the bathroom window sill a number of years ago, who I shielded from the vacuum cleaner. She was a funnel spider and I named her Enid. My son, who is an expert at catching flies, would tiptoe into the bathroom and throw the fly at her web. Oh, it was exciting! (cuckoo as all get out here).
Your blanket will be lovely!
I think that Little Buddy is The Little Engine That Could.
Love to you, Ellen.

I was bone tired Thurs. I rested once I got home and nearly fell asleep on the couch if I'd not sat up. Today I slept in. I have a spider by our big garage door. It surprised me with a leaf line web when i left for work this week. As I looked back to see garage door shut, spider was hanging in front of the leaves. His signature. Wave? Glad little Buddy is determined. He'll eventually get social stuff at school. Have a good weekend knitting yourself into the couch.

We are very much alike - we rescue spiders, we talk to animals, we grieve over them...

My little Z is doing a pretty amazing job of using his walker and pushing his car! I miss him so much!

I miss you, sister.

Dear little buddy, he always looks as if he goes at life full throttle. The only way to be I think. I have a spider here on the window. He was building a web the other day, and my littlest boy waved at him and caught his hand on the anchor thread and the web was ruined. The littlest boy was distraught. But the next day the spider started again, and now there's a perfect web out there on the other side of the window. A lesson I could learn there for sure. I do hope you're having a nice restful day, it sounds as if you've had an utterly exhausting time. Look after yourself Meredith. CJ xx

Glad to hear you are putting your feet up Meredith, sometimes you just have to listen to your body and take a break. Love the photos, as always, of LB. When we were on holiday recently the cottage had chickens, m y family thought I was mad talking to them, but it didn't deter me.

Hope you are getting lots of rest and lots of rows completed on your gorgeous blanket.

I think that determination is something that Buddy not only has in spades, but will need too, so it is good that he has it! All works out perfectly!!! Needs it and has it! As you say he will get there. I love that he is trying to push the handle on his car which seems to be higher than his own head!! Hope that you enjoy your relax and time to chill out and do nothing other than crochet and talking to the animals! xx

Our porch rail spider is hanging on too!
Fezzik, big baby kitten, is on the lazy boy with me. He's overjoyed Im sitting still with him for the first time in 5 days. We had the Sheep and wool Festival, Troy's aunt's funeral , finishing my PT for my arm this week, swimmming and 2 barb e cues. My feet are up in solidarity with you

I love the pictures of LB and his determination. He'll do well, I have no doubt. And he'll figure out the social scene, too. I'm looking forward to a little R&R tomorrow. I had my granddaughter yesterday and today, too:)

I hope you get the rest you need. I SO know what you mean. Working with children is exhausting. Am frequently bone tired when I get home from work. Often it's all I can do to eat something simple, knit, and then fall asleep the minute I try to read a book!

And you come home to a child -- delightful as he is, he is a little boy who needs lots of care. I agree with you that it is school's job to teach him how to socialize. I feel like it's my parents' job to feed, clothe, and house the kids; it's my job to teach.

I really need some rest but today was the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival (can't skip that!), and tomorrow is the start of Rosh HaShannah. The High Holy days are supposed to be restful and reflective, but they fall at the wrong time of the year for a teacher!

It is always good to take some time to rest and do as little as possible. Sounds like a crazy week.
Little Buddy will learn how to play. and you are right, that's why he is in school. He does have that look of determination trying to do both with his car and walker.
Love those colors and the yarn does look soft.

That little guy of yours DOES look very determined as he plays. I can only imahpgine how he keeps you on your toes. I'm glad he has a Mama just like you to stand up for him. You were the Mama planned for him. I'm just sure of it. Sweet Meredith, I hope your weekend is going just like you have planned with lots of rest and crocheting. You are always doing so much for others that you need to take a little time for yourself too.
Blessings always,
Betsy

I don't think you are cuckoo at all. I think you are a very kind soul. I talk to my outside kitties and I am sure the neighbors think I'm cuckoo but that's a-o-k with me. I talk to the geckos and my plants. I talk to myself at times and not always in my head. Ha! Love, love, love the gray and cream together. So soft and pretty. And that boy is just being a normal determined kid if you ask me. Some are more stubborn than others and he needs that stubborness to succeed. I hope you do rest, rest, rest. You deserve it. Hugs, Tammy

I'm so happy you are determined to rest this weekend and I hope you enjoy some stitching time while you watch the games. Oregon's Ducks and Beavers both lost their games, but I hope they enjoyed playing. It is inspiring to see how the creatures around us are determined to live out their lives... I sometimes talk to them and plants, too :). I have yet to see a turtle in Oregon :(. I'm glad LB is determined to live out his life! Wishing you all a Happy Weekend! Xx

Little Buddy - he always seems 'full speed ahead', I'm sure he will find his way lovely sweet child. I hope you do manage to find time to rest, I completely understand where you're coming from & we do seem to put our own needs aside. I have the week off part from logging on for 30 minutes or so on Tues/Wed morning. I think I've forgotten how to rest properly & am looking forward to seeing if I can remember! Take care xx

I hope the relaxing thing is working this weekend?! I do know how feeling tired right down to your bones feels... it really stinks! You were so right on your comment to little Buddy's teacher. He is ahead of a lot of kids just because he has spent so much time with adults... it's kind of like being an only child! I also know how that feels, lol!

I love those colors in your yarn choice. It looks like it is going to be a very lovely blanket!

As far as keeping up with everyone in blog land... read what you can and let go of the rest. Honestly, most of us can't keep up and like you are always apologizing. Don't worry about it sweetie, everyone understands because one way or another we share your lack of time and energy! Well, I understand anyway so there is one off your list of worries right there! :D
Hugs for now...

I talk to spiders, bees, moths and deer by the side of the road (I tell them to stay where they are just like you do). Perfectly normal. Hope you are succeeding at resting and relaxing. That lovely little boy of yours needs you to be at your best. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Love reading your blog.

My son was a therapy baby/toddler too and I know exactly what you mean. He really loved his therapist and she was good with him, but spending so much time with her made it hard for him to understand other little kids. It was her suggestions that made me decide to send him to preschool. I hadn't really thought about doing that before, since he didn't qualify for the therapy preschool, only the in-home therapies. But when he went to preschool, he grew a lot and it was the right choice for him. I'm sure Little Buddy is doing just fine. :)

Glad to see and hear little Buddy is so determined. Though it may get him into mischief now and then I think this quality will help him so much just to tackle things in life and overcome. So glad you are his momma and his advocate. All your photos are lovely. I understand you talking to things as I do it too, lol though perhaps not quite as much as you. I also understand about needing to rest. I've been pushing myself for far too long and I think it is now time to rest though I hope I can continue to post now and then and visit my blogging friends. Much love. xx

Aw, kindred spirits. I have stopped for a turtle, yell at the squirrels to make up their minds instead of standing in the middle of the street, and if I had a beautiful spider nearby, I would also chat with her. I can also relate to dead tired. Last week, I hadn't slept the night before work, my daughter called to see if I could babysit after work while she went to the doctor, and I had a meeting at church that lasted until 9! Must say, I slept like a baby the following night! And using my hands while watching college football, although I doubt you are rooting for the Wolverines at U of M!

I hope your weekend was restful and wonderful! And yes I know that bone-tired feeling. I was burning the candle at both ends for the last week, and on Sunday I got up, made breakfast (and ate it), then fell back asleep for 3 hours. It helped. :)

LB will definitely catch on. You can tell he's going places.

What a gorgeous spider web and the spider herself is lovely. I used to be scared of spiders but I'm beginning to see how fascinating they are.

College football - woo hoo! My Dad is a happy camper now that autumn and football season have returned. He subscribes to the PAC12 channel and we are going to watch college ball every Saturday night until January. :D

Oh Mere, I'm winded too. I really am. I'm not unhappy and I haven't completely lost my marbles but I am definitely working on balance and sitting down and tucking into some non obligation time.

I hope you have found a deep breath and a big sigh in a squashy craft chair with your feet kicked up and a chatty LB on the floor playing happily, your blanket growing.
