Glitter, glitter everywhere.................

The two day glitter party at my house has finally come to an end.  I made these stars to put up in my window, well stars or snowflakes.  I intended them to be white and silver, but after several tries that was not going well at all.  You could see the wood under the glitter and it looked horrible.  Do not and I repeat do not run to Michael's on a Saturday when they are having a 70% off all Christmas stuff sale, to buy two bottles of gold glitter.  I stood in line forever just to spend a few dollars.  But you know how that goes, you have to have the glitter right NOW so it doesn't matter if you have to wait forever to buy it.

I spent hours on these babies, and more than a few hours after that cleaning up glitter.  How is it that glitter ends up in your bedroom which is across the house from where all the crafting has occurred?  Up close these stars/snowflakes horrible looking, I mean really pathetic.  But I can't get over how pretty they look up in the window.  They turn and sparkle and reflect the light.  They look different as the light changes during the day, slowly swirling and twirling all day long.

At night they look even prettier if possible.  I loved my Autumn Leaves so much I decided I needed more sparkle on my windows for the Winter.  I love them even if they are pathetic up close.  Now I just have to remind myself not to play with glitter next time my back hurts, all the vacuuming, damp mopping, more vacuuming and cleaning is not what I call rest!

Have a great week everyone.

Beautiful, great work. I know what you mean about glitter everywhere ,however, christmas wouldn't be Christmas without it.

I bet they do look so pretty in the window! No glitter work here but it comes off other things and is everywhere. That is what happens when I pull out the Christmas decor! Hope you back is getting better. Mine is still sore but it is some better.
hugs,
Linda

Oh they are lovely. No glitter here. The stuff just gets everywhere. That's what store fronts are for!

They're lovely Meredith, and I know what you mean about queuing when there's something you need RIGHT NOW, I'm the same. I think the thing with glitter is just to give in to it and go around lightly dusted with gold until mid-January. CJ xx

I have some big glittery snowflakes that I hang over the dining table on our old light fixture.. so I know how fun they are to have. Yours are more special as you made them yourself. What a funny story about going to Michaels this time of year.. scary is right! But now that they're done.. you need to rest up! LOL!

What would the holidays be without a profusion of glitter!!!

I feel ya on the store. On Friday morning our television died an untimely death. WalMart had the best price on a flat screen HD replacement.

Yes, we went to WalMart on Black Friday and lived to tell the tale.

LOL

Hello Mere,

How are you doing? I'm just catching up on my reading again. Sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. You have my sympathy. Also I hope that your back will get better soon!

Your gold stars look pretty, it must be nice to have them in the window like that!

And I love your hitchhiker shawl!!!!

Take care, my dear friend!
Sending you warm hugs!

Well, you sure deserve a rest now to admire your glitter work (from a little distance maybe ;-)?). I totally understand you had to have those glitters immediatly, that's how it works :-)! Lots of love from Mirjam.

Nice work, Mere! You must be the reigning Glitter Queen! I guess part of the magic of glitter is the traces it leaves everywhere...... Happy December!

Your stars and snowflakes are pretty. Glitter is a banned substance in my house because of its sandlike properties! I am going to fold a few colourful paper stars tonight. I think I will. xx

Oh I love them!

(I think lots of things are best viewed from a distance ...)

Your glittery decorations are so pretty!!! They look perfect up close to me and I am sure that they are just as nice from a distance too. Glitter certainly does get everywhere and into all the crannies doesn't it, I wonder how it does it! There must be some scientific reason for it..... Keep taking care of yourself and your back - as I already said! xx

Meredith the glitter queen at your house! My daughter used to work at Craft Warehouse and she'd come home sometimes with glitter in her hair and on her clothes. So then there'd be glitter on our floor!!!! glad you are having fun with it all! I've not decorated at all! Yet. Maybe this weekend though. Take care! Hugs!

It is also fun to have the glitter around on the floor and on the furniture, really. It will surprise you with its shiny brightness as you sit or as you walk in to the kitchen in the morning. I know because my granddaughter wore glittery clothes at my house and I'm STILL finding glitter after six months!
Your decorations are wonderful, truly.

So cool Meredeth. I have the glitter snowflake in your last photo in silver, red and gold. I purchased them many years ago now. They are made of paper and glitter. Though glitter falls off every year they still look lovely. Yours look lovely too. xx

I think using glitter is a long term commitment to sparkles in strange places as well as the places you intended, or at least that is the way it is around here :) Thanks for letting us enjoy seeing your pretty glittery creations. Hoping you are having a restorative week. xx

Love the stars. There is something very festive about stars in the windows. You did a great job.

While they are twirling prettily, are the dropping glitter gleefully? Ha-ha! :) I'm gonna hang some crocheted snowflakes in our windows.
