Trivial Thoughts on Thursday

At the end of my busy work week my mind is a blur, so much swirling around but nothing of any substance, so how about some trivial thoughts for today?

Pinterest, I used to love you but your ads drive me bananas, I don't want your suggestions, and I don't want your ads, enough said.

Ravelry, you are still the bomb!

I. Am. Sick. Of. Driving. In Traffic!

I am loving the Sue Grafton letter mysteries on audio book.  I am finishing J is for Judgement, I swear I can never really figure out what is going to happen or who is responsible for what.

I decided that work and Little Buddy are getting in the way of my ability to play with yarn.  Little Buddy is worth it, work is too on most days, but these past two weeks with everyone coughing and having snotty noses has not been fun.

My SIL's gave me this amazing yarn bowl two weeks ago.  Their very good friend made it, can you believe it?  I love it so much.  Then a few days later they told me they are moving to a townhouse in Dunedin.  I am crushed.  They live two miles from me and help with Little Buddy all the time.  They say they will only be 25 minutes away and will still help, but you know how that goes. They love him so we will see them, it just won't be the same.

My good friend Cathy, who does not read this blog, is making a giant garter stitch blanket in soft, thick and fluffy yarn.  It is going to be brown, cream and this gold/mustard color.  I stopped by the yarn store to find yarn so I could make her a table runner.  This is almost a perfect match.  Berroco yarn, you are the best.  Well so is Cascade, Malabrigo, Juniper Moon Farms......

As I was finishing my paperwork this little guy walked in my office and said, "Look what I did, it's okay, it's fine!"   First I burst out laughing, which is exactly what I needed today, then I told him I was proud of him for getting those pants down before I got him all situated again.

He is a funny one.

I am wishing I could give my sister a big hug.  She needs one right now.  I am not happy with us living so far apart, especially at times like this.  She needs to come back to Florida for a little bit of Little Buddy shenanigans.  I think he is just the medicine she needs.

I sent Mr. 22 a box full of fun cookies and things for Valentine's Day.  He received it today and sent me a text thanking me for the great box, (he is maturing I didn't even have to ask if it arrived).  He also got one from my good friend Lynda, in North Carolina.  I wrote him back, "you lucky duck." but I hit a wrong letter and the d for duck was not there, it could have been a very naughty text from his loving Mother, thank goodness I corrected it before I hit send.

I hope your week is going well.

I know that every cute thing LB does makes you smile and be so proud of his progress.

That yarn bowl is fantastic. I've never seen one of those.

I feel so bad for Claudia and Don. I know they are just heartbroken.

Love,
Judy

I love your little guy! He makes me smile each time he appears on your blog. What a sense of humor he has. Great catch on the text! That sounds like something I would do. I ADORE that yarn bowl. So pretty and the perfect gift for you isn't it? Thank you sweet Meredith for your sweet words on my blog today. It really HAS been a week...or two, around here. I've been thinking so much of Claudia and Don. I know how hard this is on her and then to have to be away from home and Don right now has to make things even worse for her. I'm so glad I have you for a friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

I can solve your Pinterest problem! I was just about ready to dump the whole thing over their promoted pins, but I use Mozilla's Firefox as a browser, and they have extensions and add-ons, and one of them blocks all the promotion crap from Pinterest. This one, in fact: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/pinterestclean/?src=search

To switch to Firefox, just go to mozilla.org and download it. Then it has a wonderful tool called ad block plus, which will block most ads as you browse. It's the only way to be able to stand Pinterest anymore. Or Facebook, for that matter.

Hahaha about the text...that's the kind of text I usually send and people are horrified. "SHE talks that way? How rude!" Ha. Little Buddy made me laugh too, "it's okay, it's fine." He's just trying to reassure you about his wayward pants. :)

Your Little Buddy is such a sweetie! I haven't been on Pinterest in a while. It became more frustrating than it was worth. I know what you mean about not having sisters close to you. My two sisters are in Arkansas. They live in the same town and I'm in Virginia.

I love getting to know Little Buddy! I remember those wonderful days when I finally wasn't called into the bathroom or had to cut up food into little pieces. Yet I sort of miss it now...

Love trivia posts. You always seem to have a lot going on but that's life, right?

Sending prayers and strength to your sister...my dogs are really getting up there in age and I simply don't know what I'd do without my little friends.

Thanks always for your visits, Meredith!

My week's been busy and so today was the hardest as a headache hit after my first break at work. A few other people got it as well, as our rain came back. We've had warm, dry days all week til now. Barometer change can do it. I'm feeling better. I like your yarn bowl. I've seen them but never have wanted to buy one since price is higher than I want to pay! Love your Buddy surprise. Sorry your SIL is gonna be further from you. Sigh! Hopefully she will keep up with you as well as being a few blocks away! Hugs and take care.

Oh my, don't you just go grrr sometimes at auto correct? Good thing you caught the error though.that was sweet of Mr. 22 to text you and show his appreciation. I love the photo of little Buddy with his pants down looking like he really got into something, tee hee. He really is sweet and I agree that he would make your sister feel a whole lot better if she spent a bit of time with him. Maybe you can wrap him in a big cardboard box with a few holes for air and ship him to her? Err, maybe not, tee hee. Just needed that light relief right now. I do so like the gift you are planning to make your friend. I also love that yarn ball. How cool is that? As for Pinterest. I never got into it especially not that they don't let you look at pics without signing in. Even FB (which I'm not on either) allows for that. Hugs and blessing. xx

I'm snorting at the text, there is always a horror lurking in my mind about sending a professional email & ending it with xx. Sweet little Buddy I hope your sister can come over soon xx

This yarn bowl is beautiful. I have never seen a yarn bowl before and I can just imagine that finding the perfect one for me will be a weekend obsession.... Little Buddy is just so sweet. I hope you get plenty of time knitting this weekend. x

Little Buddy is pretty funny, how can you not laugh?

I was recently reading funny/mistaken texts on some blog, and one of my favorites was a woman who was doing a presentation, and in the middle of it, a text popped up on her screen from her roommate, which said, "What the f*** is rhubarb?" For whatever reason, that made me laugh all day ...

CJ said...

Oh thank you Meredith, you and your Little Buddy have made me laugh. Your son's face would have been a picture if you hadn't caught that text. Sorry that your S-I-Ls are moving further away, I know you will miss them if you don't see them as much. The yarn bowl is a gorgeous thing, no doubt it is used often. Wishing you and yours good weekend. I hope your sister is doing okay, I know how much you would like her near. CJ xx

Ha-ha! It's fine! Really! He is such a cutie! Let me tell you about traffic. You cannot believe the insanity I have to deal with here. Everyone is driving like a bat out of hell and they don't care about anyone else. Not their fellow drivers, not pedestrians, not school children, not animals. Nothing. It's unbelievable what I see happening every single day. And yesterday, I literally wanted to beat the crap out of a couple of idiots. No common sense, no respect. Ugh! It really makes me crazy! I'd much rather stay home and crochet. i hope you get in lots of crafty time this weekend. Hugs, Tammy

That yarn bowl is wonderful. I've admired them before and wondered if I crocheted enough to warrant owning one, but I still don't have one, so I guess not. But you need that one and probably 3 more besides!

Little Buddy always brings on the smiles! But the text message made me 'LOL' as they say. I always reread what I've written before hitting SEND.

I hope you get plenty of rest and feel rejuvenated over the weekend.

Little Buddy is SO adorable. Can't wait to meet him for real!

I gave up on Pinterest this week. Deleted my account along with Pandora, Shazam and Starbucks. I don't miss Pinterest at all.

Good stuff, Mere. " Berroco yarn, you are the best. Well so is Cascade, Malabrigo, Juniper Moon Farms......" Yes, it's this well meaning love that gets me and my pocket book in all kinds of trouble and my bedroom overflowing with yarn, hehe.

Little Buddy is the best and your sister could definitely use some of his laughter and brightness. I'm wishing her well, or at least better considering.

I'm impressed that your boy didn't have to be asked if the package will come. This gives me hope for myself.

Little buddy never fails to put a smile on my face, soooo entertaining and cute at that age.

For anyone wanting a cheaper yarn bowl, you can just knit or crochet a beanie shape with a flat rathet than tapered decrease crown, then add a little loop to be fastened with a small button on the edge. .....then felt it to make it stand up strong....or you could get an old sweater and felt that, then cut a rectangle with 4 triangles coming off one long edge, join the triangles to make the bottom then sew up the side seam and add the loop and button on the top edge....easy. yarn would have to be reasonably thick to felt well enough to stand up.
Have fun giving this a try.

Envying that yarn bowl. One of the best thing about having a new hobby is l the accessories! LB is sweet as ever. He must bring you so much joy, which is what God intended to help parents through the challenging times. Ads driver crazy too. I'm tempted to try Toni's suggestion about Firefox.

Happy Valentine's Day, dear Meredith! Your Little Buddy is a gift, isn't he :) I'm sorry about the horrible traffic around you, and I am sorry that some of your loved ones live so far away and some are moving a little further away. I'm sorry that your have been surrounded by sick kids and too much stress at work. I'm sorry Pinterest is annoying you with their ads, but glad that Ravelry is still a joy. I'm glad you are enjoying listening to some stories that keep you guessing............and.........

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
However you feel,
I love you. xx

Little Buddy is so cute bless him just looking at his little face cheers you up. I love that yarn bowl Meredith, I was gong to buy one at Yarndale but they are so expensive. I use pinterest just to pin handy free pattern links but I very rarely browse, I don't have the time. Cathy's blanket sounds lovely and aren't you the sweetest friend to make that table runner for her. have a great weekend and Happy Valentines. xx

Your Little Buddy is such a delight - he might run you ragged but for the smiles and laughs he gives you (and us with your stories and photos) it is worth it! :-)
I love the fun shiny bunting he has all over his walking frame. I hope it doesn't get tangled or trip him up.
You are so lucky to have a beautiful yarn bowl - soemthing I have wanted for ages. I tried to coax my daughter into making a yarn bowl with clay but it didn't fit into the art teacher's curriculum!
I love Margaret's crocheted yarn bowl substitution (above) - Thank you Margaret - I must try that idea.
Also Toni (above) has an interesting recommendation for your Pinterest woes. As I was reading your exasperation aout Pinterest ads, I was wondering about it because I don't recall having an issue with ads - in fact, I could barely remember any ads at all and then Toni said "Use Firefox". That makes sense now because I use Firefox too. I used to use Chrome but it was too large and took up too much time to load and slowed my little laptop down. Firefox has been great, quick and easy. Occasionally there will be a plug-in or element that is not compatible and they are few and far between.
I am sorry that you're supports are moving further away. I can understand how that might feel because my eldest was 'full on' and having a 'safety net' close by gives such a sense of security.
Life has a funny way of working things out though so try not to get too upset. Take care. xx

As a special ed teacher, I enjoy watching LB's progress so much! This post reminded me of when my son, then 3, announced at a dinner party: "Mommy, I just pooped in the potty!" Something about these moments are so funny and heartwarming at the same time.

I am so sorry for your sister Claudia and that your brother and SIL are moving a bit farther. It does make a bit of difference. But I'm sure they love him enough to stay involved in his life and help you out.
