Zoo and Max, a little catch up...........

After a busy week Little Buddy and I ventured to the Zoo again yesterday.  We made it a good two and a half hours which is incredible in this heat and humidity.  He met a meerkat, and finally got up the nerve to ride on the ambulance ride, he was so excited but only did it once.  We watched it go round and round after that.  He talked about it the rest of the day so excited about riding it again next visit.  We  rode on the carousel but only on the bench, no animals allowed!  We saw elephants, giraffes and zebras, even a few babies.  The train wasn't running which was a huge disappointment, but the water park area was loads of fun.  I have to admit he was the only one running around with a walker and a few little toes were almost run over with his crazy driving, but all in all it was a good morning.

Max is still with us and doing well considering his big scare.  He only needs help getting up on occasion.  Walking in the grass is still a challenge as it is uneven.  So far this past week we have not had to use the strap to help him up so he can bear weight on his hind legs.  He is not eating as much as he was before, we have to entice him with treats and such, but then he gets it all down eventually.  We are blessed with each and every moment we have him.

The last picture of Little Buddy is there just because it makes me laugh.  He is a shinning spot in my day.

I have been a little out of sorts this past week and so I am sorry for not posting.  No promises on the week ahead as my summer schedule starts this week and I am working a ton.

Hope you are all well.

Hi Meredith, I've just been catching up with your blog and I am so sorry to hear about Max. Poor boy. I really hope he'll be okay and maybe get a little stronger again. I'm glad you're cherishing the time you have with him. Hugs to all of you. Your trip to the zoo sounds like fun, if a little dicey with the crazy driver, lol. Little Buddy looks very funny and sweet with his red nose on. I saw those red noses at Walgreens and though it was nice that they started the program in the US. I hope it will be successful. Hope your summer goes well and not too hectic for you. Have a good week.

Glad you had a great day out!! It sounds and looks as though you both had a lot of fun!! I am glad that Max is doing OK, I don't suppose the heat is helping him either is it. Take care of yourselves! xx

Glad that Max is still hanging in there. Which zoo did you go to? Always like merecats.
Know what you mean about the heat and the humidity, it's awful here too. That's great that Buddy rode the ambulance, showed a lot of courage.

That's so neat you took LB to the zoo again and that he had so much fun. He'll be looking forward to the next time, too. I'm glad he got to run through the sprinklers there.. did you do it too? :-) I'm happy to hear that Max is hanging in there. I know each day with Max is a gift to you all. I admit that I am looking at Buddy with appreciation that he is still healthy and doing well at 14. I hope your week is easy.. is your headache gone? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Love, love, love the red nose! I laughed out loud when I saw this picture. I'm glad that you had such a lovely time at the zoo with your little guy. I can just see him careening around people at the water park. How fun for him and I'm sure he made others smile with his driving too. I'm so glad Max is doing better. I just don't know what I would do without my Chloe. Reading about Don and Claudia's adjustment to life without Scout is just so hard. So. I hope that Max has a long, long time to give you and your family he joy only he can give. Take care my dear Meredith and try not to push yourself too hard this summer. I'll be keeping you in my prayers my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy

I've been watching your blog for updates about Max so I'm pleased to hear he's doing a bit better, bless him. He's such a lovely boy. Glad that Little Buddy plucked up the courage for the ride this time, he might feel a little braver next time now. Lovely photos.

It sounds like you are where you're supposed to be, spending time with Max and finding joy with LB. Blogging can wait, but it's good to hear from you and thanks for checking in. I have missed you!

Looks like you have been busy, but in good ways. I am amused that Little Buddy had so much to say about the ambulance ride. Sometimes I think kiddos do that to try and talk themselves into thinking it's OK to do again.

So glad Max is doing better. He is very smiley in that photo. I hope he'll continue to be able to enjoy his doggy life, and being with all of you. I'm so happy to read your update. Let's hope it continues as long as possible.

I hope you have a good week and that you can stay cool.

Seeing Little Buddy's big red nose, intense ambulance driving, reading about his toe crunching walker steering and seeing Max's sweet doggie grin brought smiles to me, too, Meredith. Hoping you will know extraordinary peace now and in the days ahead, and that you will be headache free! xxxxxxxxxx

Sorry you've been feeling out of sorts. I do hope it passes soon. You've had a lot to deal with lately and these things do take their toll. Be kind to yourself Meredith and try and take some time to relax a bit if you can. Love the photos of Little Buddy, he knows how to have fun I think. The last photo made me smile as well. Adorable boy. I hope your summer schedule isn't too gruelling. It's nice and cool here in England if you need a change of scenery! CJ xx

LB is a blessing. But mothering a third boy is also lots of work, so I hope you give yourself credit! Pictures of that little guy always bring a smile to my face.

I am sorry to hear that you don't get a break in summer. I hope that this next week is reasonably peaceful for you and that you are not plagued by headaches.

I'm glad Max is doing ok after his scare. It's wonderful to have those boys in your life. They warm the heart. It must have been something in the air, last week was definitely an off kilter kind of week. I'm sure this week will be better. Well, I have hope it will! Lisa

So glad you had a good day out with little Buddy. He's so funny, I'm sure. Zoos are fun and haven't been to one in awhile. I'm trying to decide what to do on a day off next month. Hopefully I can get my husband to go with me somewhere. Maybe to the coast or maybe to a movie and dinner. Take care and hope you dog is ok. Hard to watch them get old and feeble. Hugs my friend!

It's hard not to feel kind of guilty when we don't post (and speaking for myself, when I don't visit my bloggy friends). But it's okay! No need to apologise. Hope you'll be able to replenish those "sorts". (Really bad language joke.)

It's always such a treat to see LB enjoying himself. Bless you all, and Max especially.

Oh, I'm so glad Max is doing a bit better! I don't think it sounds like you were hurrying at all. When my old kitty, Catanova, got to his last week, he went from decent days where he could eat and loved attention to so clearly being in pain that I made the appointment immediately. With pain meds, he got a really good extra week to be happy before they stopped working, so we had a really good final week together.

Good for Little Buddy for being brave enough to ride the ambulance!!!!!!

I'm very impressed at how well Buddy's eyes are looking now after the patch he had to wear over one of them. It seems to have been well worth it and very successful.

Hi Meredith, I'm glad that you managed to have some fun at the zoo with Little Buddy. You are very intrepid going out in the heat and humidity but you have some lovely photos and memories.
Your Max is so beautiful! I am glad that he has improved. You all have amazing spirit in your family. xx

I have to admit Meredith that I can never get enough of our Little Buddy. He's a shining spot in my day always too. He is beautiful. His smile always fills my heart and soul with joy... and that's just over a flat computer screen. What he must be like in the living flesh! God packed a whole lot in such a small one there, my friend.
I must have missed something with our dear Max. What is going on with him? I realize he can't be real young at this point? Is he having hip trouble? I know larger dogs get hip dysplasia. I will be praying for him and for YOU as you work all of your Summer hours. Scott is working like crazy lately too. He's training his new boss... sounds a bit backwards, doesn't it?! His boss of 20 years retired and his new one had no training before taking over. Scott is the second in command so the job falls to him. We are having heat an massive humidity too. Hang in there Dear One.
Much Love to You,
Danette

Nice photos of Buddy and Max. Little Buddy is growing up and developing so well. I'm sure he had loads of fun at the water feature of the zoo. I'm happy to hear Max seems to be coping well and I hope you have many more good days ahead with your lovely companion. Take care not to overdo things Meredith. You always are so busy. I hope you get some rest in between doing. Many hugs. xx
