Sunday update......

First things first, thank you all so much for your support as we have moved through this scary part of our lives.  Your love for Little Buddy is truly amazing.  I think he has felt every kind thought and prayer and is doing quite well.  Well actually today he is doing well, up until now he has not been himself.

I took about fifty photos today just to get these two crazy ones.  He was moving and making funny faces and I am thrilled.  Up until now he has been quiet, lying on the floor and not eating.  The boy we work so hard to gain weight has lost two pounds.  He is a bit wobbly on his legs and resists walking to far with his canes.  Still I am hearing his happy sounds and talk while watching Mickey Mouse Club House this mornings, that little voice is music to my ears.

So far no more seizures that we know of.  I have a video camera monitoring him while he naps.  He is sleeping in my room at night just in case........  He is taking medication that I hope he adjusts to. This boy of mine is a fighter that is for sure.  And let me just add that he has scared about ten years off my life so if I am looking a lot older than I am you know why.

Many of you new readers do not know the story of Little Buddy.  You can find it here under Beautiful Blessings.  And there was also some confusion as to who his medical foster family is.  After he got released from the hospital as an infant he was medically fragile and went into a medical foster home.  This is a family in the foster care system that has taken extended classes to work with medically fragile children. He was a ward of the state and did not have family to care for him.  In this home they took special care of his extensive medial needs.  It was here I met him as he was under my care for therapy.  He was with this very giving and caring family for the first 2 1/2 years of his life until he was adopted into our home.  They still love him a great deal and I am blessed to have their support on good days and bad ones.  I am still in their home providing therapy twice a week so they have regular updates on Little Buddy's progress.  It is so nice to know they will drop everything to help.  He was very lucky to have this home to care for him and is till lucky to be part of their life.

While no knitting took place in the hospital and very little has occurred since we returned home I do have a finish.  My first Interrupted Cowl is finished.  I am loving this pattern and yarn.  Yarn I have had in my stash for a while.  Made with Universal Yarns Bamboo Bloom Handpaints, in the color Koi Pond, and size 10 1/2 needles.  You cast on 110 stitches, join and go.  When you come to the thick yarn you purl, other than that you knit.  What could be easier?  This has been blocked and packaged up to send to my friend Lynda in North Carolina.  The second cowl in this exact same yarn has already been cast on.  This one will be for Mr. 23's girlfriend.  The second cowl is pooling very funny with the thick yarn all ending up in the same place, I am not as happy with it so I have to keep cutting the yarn and adjusting it, still it isn't a hard knit and it will be just fine when it is done.

I have taken down the Thanksgiving decorations and decorated for Christmas.  I am a Grinch when it comes to Christmas but need to get it done while I have the time, during the work week there is not a minute to spare.  I got so nervous watching the Ohio State/Michigan game yesterday I even put up our tree.  I figured I had the older boys here so they might as well put up a few of their decorations before they return to school today.

Today is about older boys leaving.  Mr. 23 will return to the airport in an hour, Mr. 19 will jump in his car and drive back to school later today.  I am blessed they were here but sad they are leaving.  We will all be together soon, hopefully with a much healthier little boy to enjoy the Christmas Season with.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for your support.  I really cherish this space I have and the friends I have made here.

My heart is so happy to see these photos of little buddy! He truly is such a special child and so lucky to have the families he has in his life. I know about that aging 10 years in no time, my kids did that a few times to me also. Much love to you Meredith.

So wonderful to see a smile and a silly expression on that boy's face! We love him so!

I love, love that cowl, Mere. It's beautiful. I should make one because a cowl would come in handy this winter especially in Harford, which is as windy as Chicago is!

Glad Little Buddy is starting to feel better. Wishing him continued improvement.

I have a question about the cowl you show in the photo. Is that one skein? How many stitches did you cast on and what size needle did you use.

I didn't get that nice a "look" when I made my last one. I did like knitting it, but I ended up pulling it all out because it just didn't look nice.

So glad Little Z is feeling more like himself. How great to have people around you who can support you and love you. It makes such a great difference. A beautiful cowl!

So glad your Little Buddy is doing better now, I hope he regains his strength very soon. I know how much you will miss your big boys, I'm sending you a hug. I like the way there are different families involved in US adoptions/fostering. Can't have too many people loving a little man I think. And it must be nice for you to have other people to talk to who care about him as well. The cowl is a triumph, the yarn is fantastic, although I can imagine a little frustrating if the chunky bits all end up together. Wishing you and yours a good week Meredith. Hugs and stuff, CJ xx

I'm glad to hear your little man is getting back to normal. Nice that you had both big boys home for Thanksgiving.. some day they will have families and it gets harder to have everyone there. Gorgeous cowl, my friend. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I just have to say that that Little Buddy of yours is the most beautiful child I have every seen. Those big round eyes with those long eye lashes. My goodness! He's just precious. My experience with siezures with our Levi is that the days following an episode generally leaves him very tired and a bit listless. It takes a lot out of him but he does come around after that and is perfectly normal acting until he has another. That can be days or months...we just don't know what triggers them which is so frustrating. I hope with all my heart your little guy never has another one but know this... seizures can be delt with and somewhat controlled with meds so he can still have a perfectly productive good life. That big smile of his says it all. :-) God bless you for giving that beautiful child your love and devotion!

Your cowl is gorgeous..I will have to check out that pattern..I'm all for easy knits.

It is so good to see Little Buddy's smile and funny face and know he is on the mend. He is such a little fighter and I hope he gains strength and some weight in the coming days. The medical foster care family sounds like a great system. It must be a great comfort and support to be able to share the joys and worries with someone who knows and loves your son so well too. I love the cowl and have seen similar beautiful yarn before but never known how to use it - now I know, what a great excuse to try it out! Take care and best wishes to you all.

I'm happy to see some pictures of your little guy. Good news he has had a better week - we always want our kids to be quiet but when they are too quiet it's worrisome. His medical foster family sound like amazing people-they are the unseen heroes in our communities . I love your yarn and the cowl is so pretty! It's interesting how you knit it- gives it lots of texture and accents the yarn- lovely!! Hang in there buddy!!

That's good news! Fingers crossed for continuing on the road to recovery-for Little Buddy. It's going to be a lot longer for you I fear. My two guys had similar medical emergencies when they were about Buddy's age and I'm still not over it.
I LOVE that cowl. It's a perfect combination of color and texture. Bravo!

So glad to see these darling pictures of Little Buddy! He is so cute; he brings a smile to my face when I see his photos. How wonderful that you had your two older boys at home for a bit, too. I know it's hard when they have to leave.

Your cowl is gorgeous. Some lucky ladies are going to look beautiful AND be kept warm!

Oh, my! I'm absent from blogland for a bit and LB has seizures! I am so glad that he is coming through this crisis. But then, he always does -- largely because he has such a loving home. My son had a seizure as a toddler and it stands out as one of the worst days of my life.

I am in love with that cowl Must order that yarn!

So good to hear that LB is on the mend! Give him a hug from the PNW, OK? You cowl looks so much bigger than mine do with the same needles and 120 stitches. Go figure. How did you block yours? I love that Koi color; it's one I've not seen. (I've just started #9!) Enjoy what's left of the weekend; I actually thought it was Monday when I first woke up.

I read your previous post about Little Buddy's seizure only today and I'm very glad that he's feeling better now. I can't imagine the fear, distress and the nightmare that you went through, anyway he seems happy now and he is definitely a fighter. Love the cowl!

Oh my I am so sorry you and your family went through so much but glad all is on the mend. Your knitting is beautiful! Hope everything settles down for you all.

I'm so happy to see that boy smiling! Does he understand that he went through something really scary? I sure hope that he will be fine now and not have anymore episodes. That cowl is gorgeous. I love the yarn ... have something similar here, but not enough to make a cowl with. Sending you hugs for a brand new week.

Good news that Little Buddy is on the mend. How blessed he is that so many people are there to care for him, there are some truly wonderful people in this world. It will have been nice to have your older boys home for Thanksgiving but sad to see them go again, still, they'll be back before you know it with Christmas around the corner.

Good news and a finish to boot! Beautiful face, beautiful cowl, projects undertaken and completed, family surrounding you...it was a whirlwind weekend.

I wish it had been nothing but Happiness, Meredith. But thank you for the update on your son. I hope he continues to gain strength and that you have seen the last of Trouble.

With mine coming in for Christmas , it simply cant get here fast enough .
I'll have to be patient!
Judy made me a cowl like that and gave it to me right after we moved and she visited with her daughter.
I love it.

First of all I'm so glad that Little Buddy is doing so well. You know that I will continue praying for all of you and that there are no more seizures. What a wonderful time that all of you could be together for the holiday. Your cowl is gorgeous too. I'm amazed that you had time to get it done in all of the excitement.
Blessings,

Oh, Mere. I had no idea what happened with Little Buddy. I scrolled down and read your post. I can't imagine the fear and pain you and your husband were going through. Thank God he pulled through. I'll keep him in my prayers.

I love the cowl...you really amaze me. And the Christmas decorating. I know, sometimes we have to squeeze it in. I am just moving so slow. It makes me want to kick myself in the butt when I see someone like you juggling 20 balls in the air.

Sending a big hug (and one for Little Buddy).

Please know how incredibly intimidated I am to post on this blog
as I clearly understand you are very experienced and have expert
advice and treatment.
But I noticed something that may be important and after much
prayerful consideration I feel it would be wrong not to say anything.
In the first photo Buddy is engaged in an activity on a lighted screen.

Your cowl is gorgeous, so spectacular who would have thought it to be such a simple knit. Beautiful colours and patterns. A nice way to celebrate LB's recovery. xxx
