A two cups of tea morning......

It is Saturday and I am much relieved.  This week has been crazy for me with my altered work schedule.  I feel like I have not been home at all.  I love Saturday mornings, a morning I can take my time and drink two cups of tea.  A morning I don't have to rush off to do anything, or drive anywhere.

The weather is coolish out.  Not exactly cool but I felt a slight chill when I took Max out this morning.  It will warm up all to much during the day, but at night I can have my windows open.  Ah for a little bit of snow to make the season feel more festive.

When I walked outside I was shocked to see my cactuses in bloom.  Yes it is December and this is when they should be blooming, still it took me by surprise.  This little one was saved from my parents porch just over a year ago.  It was just one small dried up sprig and was left for dead.  I repotted it, and actually watered it and look what has happened.  I can't tell you how thrilled I am to see how much it has grown and to see how happy it is.

Somehow I missed the berries on my holly tree.  Where there many or few this year?  Did the birds eat them?  I have no idea, seems I have been missing big chunks of time in my life with work and Little Buddy worries.

Today I will try to take a moment to just breathe.  To take a deep breath and appreciate my home and family.  To try and not get worked up about the fast approaching holiday and all that still needs to be done to make it a success.  All I plan to do besides clean up here and there is take one little boy to soccer early this afternoon.  I plan on being thankful he will be back out on the field and will be thrilled if he even kicks the ball once.  There is no game it is just Little Buddy and his helper Katie running around after him trying to keep him engaged.  I bet Katie needs a nap after she goes home from volunteering with my boy.

I plan on working on this cowl for a friend.  It will be part of her Christmas present, but there is still plenty of time to get it done.  Tomorrow will be about some shopping and starting re-evaluations for work, but today is about rest.  Resting my weary brain and frankly my weary body.

And of course listening to this little one of mine talk and play.  He really is such a light in my life and I am so thankful he is doing better.

I'm glad he's doing better too, Meredith. I hope he has fun at soccer today. Enjoy your two cups of tea, that sounds perfect in my book. :)

A Two Cuppa morning sounds like the perfect start to the weekend, Meredith. Little Buddy looks like he has completely recovered, but I'm sure you haven't. Kids are so resilient, and have an ability to move on that we adults seem to lack. I'm glad you are attempting some self-care this weekend.

Good advice for all of us today. Especially in these weeks, we are all starting to jitter full-bore into The Holidays and all of what that means. Instead of enjoying The Process, we rush headlong toward The End.

Here's to Breathing, full and slow, more and more each day.

And to TWO cups of tea (or coffee!) whenever we can.

Take that moment to breathe! I know this time of year we all get so busy but you have much to be thankful for as do I! Sending hugs and much love to you and Little Buddy. Oh and I loved the shawl you sent Claudia!

Ahhh...I am sitting here with a cup of tea and thankful that Little Buddy is better and you are enjoying some peace and rest. My little Christmas Cacti are starting to bud and bloom, too, and Jason and the G-Girlies brought me some Holly from the woods to make a wreath. Now if Grantie will kindly fashion a bow from some ribbon I saved the wreath will be even more festive. Love with hugs xxxxxxxx

Meredith, peace and tranquility oozed from your post today.. I hope your day is relaxing and fun watching LB play on the field. I'm so pleased to see your Christmas Cactus in bloom and especially your "rescue" plant from your parents. I also have a rescue CC from my mom and it's the same color as yours! Hers was dried up near death when I brought it home.. I watered it, put it in my garden window and was amazed when it put out these big technicolor blooms! Enjoy your weekend. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I know just how you feel on Saturday mornings because it's the same for me -- only I sip on two cups of coffee! I hate it when I have to do anything early on Saturday or Sunday because early morning is my favorite time to just be.

Your cacti are beautiful!

Glad to hear that LB is doing well.

That is amazing progress. To even be thinking of playing football is miraculous.

Your cactus is so pretty! I miss mine. I had to leave it behind when we moved here. The movers wouldn't take live plants so I had to find homes for all of them. The greens and blues in the cowl your making are very soothing too. So glad you are having a good day with Little Buddy. You certainly deserve a two cup day! :-)

He looks so cute playing on the floor, I'm so glad things are better for little Buddy. I hope you get some of that much needed rest and relaxation and football is fun for Little Buddy and Katie too xx

I am so glad to hear that you are taking a day to do some relaxing - you certainly need and deserve it! I can't believe the blooms your Christmas cactus has on it. Probably because of living in FL. I have a Christmas cactus that rarely gets any blooms. Have a great weekend!

Your Christmas cactus reminds me of my mom. She had several in her laundry room that were just gorgeous. She could make anything grow. I bought one and killed it.

You definitely know your priorities and where your love lies, Mere. In the face of the hustle and bust of this time of year, I admire you and I'm going to stop whining about not getting things done on time. We are really blessed to have all of the things we can't begin to imagine for our less fortunate neighbors. I've turned my thoughts that way in the past few years...any little bit to a charity that speaks to our hearts makes a
difference.

Your little guy...he makes me smile so big. And your cactus is gorgeous! They can take a lot of abuse but I think your guy is very happy! :-D

So good to see how well Little Buddy is doing. My sister took some cuttings from my Mum's Christmas cactus after she died 8 years ago and gave one to me . It's huge and full of blooms right now. I love it.

I'm glad you could experience a little calmness Meredith.
You do deserve a break! It is both wonderful and not surprising to see that you have a green thumb!
I take so much joy in seeing last year's poinsettia turn red for instance ;-)
Hugs~

Little boys and trucks . . . there is nothing better to cheer up a day!

Your Christmas cactus is beautiful. Mine is running behind by a bit. I think moving further north slowed it down.

I love Saturday mornings too. I watch the sewing and knit/crochet shows while I drink my coffee in bed!

So lovely to see the cactus bloom. And at just the right time. That's what a little TLC can do. Glad you are taking time to care for you after all that's been going on over there. Happy to see Z Man being his normal little boy self. Hugs and blessings, Tammy

Your plants are nice. I have not killed my poinsettia yet, which is good! I found out I needed to give it fertilizer and it seems much happier. I also need to transplant it soon as it's getting too big for it's britches! I've had a busy weekend with our grandchildren but it was really worth it. Your pirate Buddy is so cute! I'm glad he's getting better! Hugs and blessings to you and raise you a cuppa tea to you as you have rested your weary self for day. We all need to do that once in awhile!
