Thoughts on a Tuesday.......

Since every spare minute I have has been used up making these hats, not a lot else has gone on here.   Little Buddy likes putting the hat on but informed me his favorite color is red not pink.

Two have already been delivered and three more have been made.  I think I can get one more finished before I take my SIL's to the bus in Tampa on Friday.  They are riding all night so they can participate in the Women's March on Washington, on Saturday.  They are marching for women's rights as well as the rights of every single person in this country.   I so wish I could go!  There are Sister Marches all over the world.  Look at this site to is amazing to see the participation out there.

I have been watching the Gilmore Girls on Netflix while I knit row after row.  It is a great show that I am late to the party for.  I swear I am late for everything!  A perfect show to watch as I try to knit my heart out.  I want to live in Stars Hollow and of course I have a crush on Luke.  I am still on season 1, and am loving every minute of this show.

Another great Netflix show, The Crown.  If you haven't watched it you should.  It is superbly acted, absolutely stunning, the costumes are incredible, and oh my the music is so stirring.  I can't wait for the next season to be released.  It is by far one of the best productions I have ever seen.

Here was my Christmas present from my friend Holly.  She bought this not knowing at the time the person she bought it from had made it.  It is actually made by a friend of mine who used to own a yarn store near me.  She lost her daughter in a tragic car accident some years ago.  The proceeds from these little monsters go to the foundation she set up in honor of her daughter.  Her daughter Jen, was an artist who taught art in elementary school.  If you want a monster you can find out more here.

I have been trying to weed thorough some of the things in my home as I have stated before.  I ran across an article stating you should remove, recycle or donate 27 things from your space for 9 days in a row, to clear out the old so the new can flow in.  I can happily say I have completed day 8, one more day to go tomorrow.  If you miss a day you have to start all over again!  I have been through drawers and cupboards, closets and under beds, yet there is still so much here!  I just might keep going a few more days as there seems to be no difference here at all.  Out with the old stuff and in with the new.  Well in with positive things, nothing negative I hope.

I have also been gluten free for two weeks to see if it helps my headaches.  It is not as hard as I thought it would be but can I just say that my rice flour, agave sweetened gluten free blueberry muffins are not near as yummy as my agave sweetened chocolate chip muffins.  I am starting to bring gluten back in a little at a time starting tomorrow, wish me luck because I feel like I have been hungry for two weeks.

Just to make you laugh, not the greatest selfie, but you get the idea.  Little One and I had to try on the hats together.   Soon they will be on their way to marchers in Washington D. C.  I am in awe of all the women, men and children out there who are marching for all of us, for equality in all forms. I wish them all a great day.

LOVE those photos of your Little Buddy, what a happy little man he is. Well done on the gluten free thing, that's very impressive. I am trying to cut out sugar but so far I've failed dismally. Once I get going I'll be alright, it's those first few days that are hard. I crack halfway through the afternoon. And well done on all of the hat knitting too, nicely done, and for a great cause. I can relate to being late for things. I just started watching "Downton Abbey" and I am loving it. Maybe it will inspire me to pick up my crochet again one of these evenings.
That wee monster is darling, and what a wonderful way to honour her daughter.
I have been cleaning house like crazy. I always get into this mood in the new year, but this year, I find myself a lot less attached to things. Our local thrift store couldn't be happier!
Great pics and great job on all those hats!!!
Enjoy your week,
Andrea

I love your hats! Hopefully I'll be parading my wonky one down Independence Ave on Saturday-if I survive my trip in on the Metro. I hate the subway.

And I'm still trying to finish one of these hats! Now I really feel like a slacker.
You're also ahead of me on decluttering. I just can't seem to find the time!
I'm always late, too. I haven't even started Gilmore Girls. My mom watches it when she can't sleep and she is loving it. I started The Crown with my daughter, so it's kind of sad to watch on without her. But I will!
You didn't say if cutting out gluten helped your headaches -- and I really want to know!

I don't know what you're talking about! That's the best selfie! super cute.

I'm really in awe of your home cleanse! I'm jealous.

Lastly if you're going gluten-free I highly recommend Nigella Lawson's clementine cake. I assume you can manage the sugar substitution as you need but it's delightfully easy and tasty. I found it on Smitten Kitchen and it brings the happy.

Agree, it's a great selfie!! Just started watching Victoria on PBS, waiting to rent The Crown since I still use DVDs! Hoping to go to DC on Saturday, will let you know if I do!

I loved The Crown. Have you been watching Victoria? It just started on Sunday night on our PBS. I think you'd enjoy it!

Meredith.. I admire so many things in this blog post. Experimenting with your diet to see if it helps with your headaches is such a good idea. The purging of non-essential items I really respect.. I seem to not have that gene. I'm a hoarder at heart. I adore the photo of you and Little Buddy in the hats! We're in the middle of an ice storm, it's a sheet of ice here. Enjoy your warm weather! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I love the hats and the cause. There was a walk in Columbus on Monday.
My son used to love pink too.
I have been gluten free for four years. I have Celiac so it's not a choice. You learn what you can substitute. There are days that are really hard.
The little monsters are cute. I will go there and check.
Hugs

I seem to always be late for all those shows, too. Don't have netflix, either...
That last photo is so cute--both of you laughing.

I'm late to the Gilmore girls party too! I watched all of season one a couple of weeks ago during some of our snowstorms and started season two. Then hubby decided he might like to watch them so we started back over with season one. I keep saying I want to live in Stars Hollow. Your little monster is very cute and what a good cause. Love the selfie's of you and your little guy. Meanwhile I'm trying to stay warm here in the middle of an ice storm. Teresa and Gracie are having one in Portland and we're having one here in Spokane. This winter will never end.
Blessings,
Betsy

I was shocked just how much stuff we have accumulated over the years, I am saying we so that I don't have to take responsibility for it all. Although if I am truly honest the bulk of it is indeed mine. The selfie was wonderful, it brightened a dismal day to see Little Buddy's beautiful smile. Children certainly have the knack of making you smile. Take care and cheering the marchers on from afar.

Yours truly has yet to watch any of the programs you mentioned [and other bloggers I read have mentioned] so I am later than you if that is of any consolation to you, Meredith :) Your decluttering your home inspires me, and I am especially fond of the last photo of you and Little Buddy smiling at us! I am smiling back at you. xxxxx

Not sure if this has been posted yet but we can Do something in support of pink pussy hats right in our home on Fri.Inauguration Day by not watching any of the networks that are carrying and Not Buy Anything on Friday!!!!!

Tell Little Buddy that my favorite color is also red. I hope people keep wearing these hats - thanks for all your knitting!

I'm a Marie Kondo fan, but I still struggle with all the paper that comes into the house. I try to limit it as much as possible by getting e-bills, etc. but it keeps coming. Whatever happened to the paperless society?!?

That photo of you and Little Buddy put a big ole smile on my face. So happy you got so many of those hats made. I'm marching with all my sisters in my heart! I loved The Crown, so good. Oh my, Gilmore Girls...what can I say it's awesome. I too love Stars Hollow and Luke, sigh! It has many seasons to enjoy and I binged on it last Spring. My downsizing is going well and I've taken 2 loads to the thrift shop with another ready to be dropped off tomorrow. I've been able to sell some things and I have about 3 boxes of things for my church rummage sale. I feel like I've hardly made a dent in things. So onward I go! Hugs!

We burned through The Crown like it was our job, and now we are sad! The lead actress won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Elizabeth, if I recall correctly. It is a wonderful series and a visual stunner.

Pretty strict Decluttering Regimen; I don't know if I could adhere to it myself, and I'm especially good at getting rid of clothes and shoes. Perhaps if each single shoe counted...!

What a lovely photo of you both! well done on the decluttering Meredith, I intend to do it big time this year it does improve the flow of possitive energy I always feel so much better for having done it. I love the little monster, such a sad story behind it. :) xx

I needed these cute photos of Little Buddy today - I am sitting in a coffee shop because I have workers in my house and it is nerve-wracking to be at home while they're there. My anxiety is very high right now and I also just read a sad blog post, so when I saw the picture of LB at the top of your post, I actually laughed out loud. Thank you. :-)

It'll be interesting to see if going GF helps your headaches. I went GF a little over a year ago because of IBS (I also gave up some other foods). When I incorporated gluten back into my diet, I didn't get sick per se, but it doesn't indeed make my tummy very bloated. So I limit it as much as possible now. Once in awhile, I'm OK with it.

I LOVE the hats and think they are such a great idea and for an even greater cause. Love the selfie of you and your little man, too. I love the little monster as well...I am so sorry for your friend's loss of her daughter. That's unbearable.

I was searching for The Crown last week only to find its on Netflix which is not part of our package. There is a free one month trial and I'm thinking of trying it as I'm so tired of the garbage I have.

And speaking of garbage, I think that purge program is so neat. I'm trying to do one area at a time. It's amazing that we hang on to stuff thinking we will need it some day. Crazy!

Hope you're having a good start to the year!

I love that pic of you and Little B. Great job on the hats. And that little monster is so adorable. Such a great way to remember and honor her daughter. There are going to be so many demonstrations and marches over the next several days. Still very hard to believe this is where we're at.

Haha, like the selfie!
It's also very 'cosy' to sit here in the morning with my coffee and read your blog. It almost reads like a book, I really enjoy that.
PS: I like the Gilmore Girls too!
Have a very nice day,

Great job on your hats!! You really went to town. I'm marching in Charlottle. Had wanted to go to DC but had to stay closer to home. It's looking like we will be marching in the rain but that won't stop me. Love the photo of you and the Little One. His smile is infectious!

Meredith,
Thanks to you,I first heard about the hat project and was able to get a hat knit and shipped off to Philadelphia, where it arrived today.
My friend will wear it on Saturday. Thanks for letting me know about a way to make a difference.
Don't let the naysayers get you down. You follow your heart, and that is always the best guide.
Little Buddy's smile gives me hope for the future.
All best wishes,
Carol in Long Island

Hi Meredith, I've just been catching up on your posts and love all the family photos. Little B looks so happy with his big brothers and can well imaging how you miss them now after the holiday. With being away I missed the start of the hat project but will be cheering on all the marchers tomorrow from the sidelines. I hope you can establish the cause of your headaches and find some improvement soon.

Love your photos, Meredith.

Like you, I am often late to TV shows, mainly because I have little interest in TV. When there is something that sparks my curiosity, I often miss the start because I never remember to tune in on time! When I finally get around to remembering it is on, I always seem to tune in at the same point in the same episode which invariably finishes with the announcement, "And that was the last episode of ..."

You have been so productive with your hats. Well done, Meredith!
