Stash enhancement with a little help from a friend.....

As you all know I am on a self imposed yarn buying ban.  Only yarn that is needed for a specific project that I do not already have is allowed in this house of mine.  I am trying to whittle away at the stash to get it into more controllable proportions.   So while at the rehearsal dinner for the bride and groom to be last Friday I received a lovely surprise.  The Brides Mother, Little Buddy's Medical Foster Mother has a brother who crochets.  I know isn't that amazing!  Uncle Sean and I are buddies even though we do not see each other often.  He heard about my buying ban and delivered some beautiful yarn to me from his stash.  Believe me his stash is big and beautiful.  You have to love a man who appreciates beautiful yarn.  I received this gorgeous Malabrigo Rios in the colorway Liquid Amber.

Beautiful Universal Yarn Classic Shades in the colorway rust.  It is warm and gorgeous.

And The Verdant Gryphon, hand-dyed Dk 100% superwash wool in the colorway Big Rock Candy Mountain.  That is 1,520 yards of yarn that have been added to my stash.  Looks like I need to get busy making things.

I pulled out the baby blanket after completing my ninth hat.  The Pussy Hat project is asking for more hats to be delivered to people who will continue to fight for all human rights.  If you would like to contribute to the cause with a few pink hats they are still receiving them at:

The Little Knittery
3195 Glendale Blvd
L.A., CA 90039

And here is a little shout out to Sen Elizabeth Warren for speaking the truth and the courageous words of the deceased Coretta Scott King.  She should not be silenced by those who do not agree with her.  I am talking to you Mitch McConnell.  People should not be silenced for their views, even if I do not agree with them, it is a violation of our free speech. You can read about Sen. Warren and her treatment here.  Strong women who stand up for what is true and right are such a threat!  And this video by Keith Olbermann is well worth a view, you can see it here, thank you to the dear friend who sent it my way.

Have a great day.

i agree that no one should be silenced, but there's sure been a lot of that going on from both sides. Love the yarn, I think it's great that he crochets, who ever said it should just be women.

What a generous gift of yarn! They're all beautiful but I think I especially love the colors of the last one. Do you have any ideas what they will become when they're finished?
Blessings, Betsy

A man with a stash of yarn, how wonderful. And what gorgeousness he has passed your way. Glad the protests are still going strong. Very well done on all of the hats. CJ xx

Oh wow, you lucky woman! Not only am I impressed with a man who crochets but he has excellent taste in yummy colorful yarn! I love them all but love the top one and the Rock Candy Mt. one as the colors are eye-popping! I agree with you on the horrible way that Senator Elizabeth Warren was treated. I am going to call the Senate and complain. We donated to her not long ago so I'm on her email list. I hope she runs for president in 2020! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

That ombred amber yarn is making me envious. I absolutely love it--so gorgeous.

I agree with you that Strong Women pose a threat to so many men. It's actually sad, isn't it? Some men are, unfortunately, not Self-Actualized, and see intelligent, well-spoken women as a danger to their Paternalistic Power Structure. And in Washington, D.C., anything that challenges their Old Rich White Man = Boss formula scares and horrifies them.

Thanks for the Olbermann link. I'm off to watch it now.

Oh, wow!!! Someone must have a most excellent stash to give up those beauties.
I've been having lots of fun on Twitter with the Warren thing. They've got to know by now that you can't win the internet by silencing anyone. Kudos to the men who took up her cause. The resistance has been very bigly.

This yarn is most scrumptious, I'd happily have it in my stash! What a privilege to have such an amazing friend. I have met male knitters but never a male crochet champion, how cool is that? Wishing you a happy week xx

A man who crochets, has impeccable taste in yarn and also gifts it......be still my heart!!! LOL Lucky you! I was watching when that happened to Elizabeth Warren and I was appauled though not surprised. They are mistaken if they think they can silence her!

You definitely have to love a man who appreciates yarn. what a man!

Hi Meredith, please excuse me being late to comment. I read your posts (on my phone) as they were published but I found it hard to type on my phone so postponed my replies until I was near the computer. Much more reliable.

Like you, I've been on a "yarn ban' (or 'wool control' as Jo so beautifully puts it) as well. It isn't easy but I have been making progress with stashbusting. Again, like you, just as I use up a quantity of yarn, someone else comes along and gives me more!

As frustrating as that is on one hand, on the other, it must be easier to bear when it is beautiful yarn like yours. What a privilege to have a man in your life who appreciates a good yarn as much as we do. That is definitely newsworthy! I look forward to discovering the fate of your latest stash. Enjoy!
