Sunday Snippets............

Lots and lots going on this weekend in my life, how about yours?  Now don't panic but this boy made a trip to the children's hospital ER on Friday evening.  He has been sick as you know but woke from his nap and could not stop coughing.  Those coughs were just wracking up his little body.  He was not that bad Thursday or Friday, he even went to school.  None of the after hours clinics in my area take his particular Medicaid so it was off to the ER at the children's hospital 45 minutes away from us.  He tested positive for the flu which was interesting as he did not have a fever or anything other than a cough and poor appetite.  He is now on Tamiflu and is starting to smile and more importantly EAT again.  He has lost 2 pounds which is huge for his little body.  This week is spring break so he will have the whole week to regroup before school starts again.

More and more organizing is happening here.  I listened to The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up this past week in my car and frankly could not stop myself from tidying even more than I have already.  Maybe 2017 is the year of decluttering and organizing for me.  Now I already think I am pretty organized but the author has a few points I need to remember.  First of all, all things should have a place.  All yarn should be in one place, so now it is.  If it can't fit in this cupboard it can't come into my house.

No more yarn on other shelves, or project bags in other areas of my house.  All knitting and crochet patterns that are not on my computer are in binders.  I got almost all my photos together in one cabinet in my bedroom.  That includes my grandmother's photo albums and old family photos.  I made a pile of items for each of my kids so they will not have to go through a large bin of photos that were kept by me, like my sister and I had to after my father died.  Those old photos are not doing anyone any good in a huge bin.   I got rid of two bags of garbage and loaded my trunk up twice for deliveries to the Goodwill store.  My closet does not have a single thing on the floor but my laundry basket.  This is a first as it is often used as an extra storage space for me.  All craft supplies have been combed through and organized or passed onto someone who will like them.  That includes all of my beads and 1,000 yards more of yarn.  I went through my knitting needles and old metal needles are out the door.  Funny I should be feeling lighter but really all I want to do is get rid of more things.  I have vowed to not buy another candle until I burn the ones I have.  Now about that toilet paper that I tend to hoard, I will still be hoarding it, I mean I am not perfect!

I am hoping three times is the charm for this yarn.  Juniper Moon Farm, Moonshine has almost been a Flaum and an Easy Two Way Wrap.  I have frogged both projects and am now starting on Harebell.  Now as monogamous as I am going to try to be in the future I have another baby blanket to make as soon as I find out the sex of the baby, so this sweater will eventually go into hiding and that is exactly when I have a problem.  Once out of eyesight I tend to lose interest.  So maybe if I knit like a maniac on this for a few more weeks I will not lose my knitting mojo when I take a break for the blanket.

The two sheep on the left were a recent gift to me by an old friend.  Aren't they sweet?  Pier 1 if you are interested.  I bought a new diffuser and placed it on a dishcloth from Gracie.  I have Head Relief oil in there right now because I feel a headache coming on.  Might be from all that cleaning and gardening I have been doing.

I had a surprise when I went out to water my plants yesterday.  Look my Mom and Dad's little cactus is blooming twice this year.  I am thrilled.  Hi Mom and Dad, thanks for the little hello!

One of the mums I planted last Fall has survived and is blooming, too.  Lucky me!

Hope you are having a good weekend.

So glad he's feeling better, that's a lot of weight he lost, so hope he's finding lots to tempt his appetite.
I start decluttering and then stall out. I keep saying , "One day....".
Hope it's a good weekend for you and the family.

Too bad you had to go to the ER with buddy but glad he is doing well. Hope he gets better and no more flu! I think that is a great idea to make sure all the yarn is in one place. I have yarn scattered around I think I will try to keep it all together so I can see what I have! I think I need to do more stash-busting projects as it has been accumulating recently. The flowers are so pretty! have a great weekend!

Hope the little guy is on the mend now.

2017 is the year of organization for me too! It starts as soon as I kick my husband out of the house for the week tomorrow (I don't need him underfoot!)

Poor Buddy! I hope he is better soon.
Those sheep are adorable. I need to go see if our Pier One has them although I bet our cats would eat them.
Your flowers made me happy. We've got snow in the forecast. I love snow but not in March.

Poor little man, that sounds like a nasty thing to have. I do hope he recovers quickly. Good that he has a week off to relax and get back to normal. I'm immensely impressed with all the decluttering and tidying, you are on a roll! I have that book on my shelf, I need to dip into it I think, I absolutely love the feeling of tidying stuff away and getting rid of things. Hope you have a good week Meredith. CJ xx

Brave Buddy. He's doing his best to smile. As for the decluttering. I love doing that as well. I just have to train Hubby to stop filling the gaps I create!

I having similar feelings on the clutter front and my no buy pledge is really helping me see what I have not what I can have. I have been thinking: if I was to move house tomorrow, would I like it in my new house? If not I have been giving it to charity, passing it on or more often than not it is broken and needs throwing away. You are right - the more you do, the more you can get rid of and then there are fewer items to keep re-homing. Jo x

Oh that boy; glad he is feeling better, finally. If only I could motivate myself to organize all my craft crap and other stuff. I've got the book but haven't read it yet. I know what I need to do. Just takes a lot of time and I'd much rather be doing other things. Lovely surprise to see the cactus bloom. Have a good day.

I'm so impressed with your organizing and downsizing. I wish it would rub off on me... but I have none of your restraint. I'm so sorry that Little Guy is dealing with the coughing but glad he's on the mend. I may have to go to the doc tomorrow.. there is a lump on the back of my tongue and it gags me. I hope your little man gets all better over the week. Stay well, Mere! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I hope Little Buddy is on the mend now so that he can enjoy his week off. You're putting me to shame with all your organising, I really need to go through all my stash and get it sorted out.

I hope Little Buddy is all better very soon. It's been nothing but illness here for close to a month and I'm exhausted! I'm so over it and I can't wait for everyone to be healthy and active again. I hope you're having a good weekend!

Glad Little Buddy is feeling better. Coughing like that can be terrible. I have a friend whose husband actually broke a rib.
Your organizing is amazing. I've been doing some too. Loads of things to the second hand store.

Sorry to learn Buddy has been sick but better now. So much sickness this year. Megan has still got her cough. I'm still trying to get over skin issues. Arg! But today is lovely and warm and will enjoy oir walk in it later. Thanks for your inspiration of organizing and purging. I'm with you all the way. Yes there must be a place for every thing. Megan has finally clearing out her room and found 2 library books that were missing. Now she's relieved and me too! Your flowers from your parents are lovely. My mom was a plant person and still dabbled in it when she lived in the nursing home. Their windows had nice ledges and that was her spot. Hopefully your headache just leaves you alone! Have a great week!!

I did a bit more organizing and downsizing this weekend. It does feel so good and it makes me want to do more more more! I got out my bunnies for Easter and decided I had too many so I'm giving some to a friend. I find myself wanting to simplify more and more lately. Hugs to you and Little Buddy. Scout has been sick but I think she has the allergies that run in our family. She didn't feel too badly today as I let her play with a bracelet and now it's 'my bracelet' she said! I love that little girl. Hugs!

I am so sorry to hear that Little Buddy has the flu and that you had to make a trip to the ER. Hope he's feeling better by now and is eating a little bit. Look at you with the getting rid of stuff and organizing! You're an inspiration! I'm pretty organized, but I still have a lot of stuff to get rid of, especially in my basement. It's a mess down there. I always love seeing photos of your Christmas cactus. They obviously like the hot, humid, sunshiny weather. I have one indoors, right by a window, and I'm lucky to get one or two blooms each December.

So sorry for Little Buddy. I hope he feels better soon. I had to smile about that Harebell sweater. It is one I want to make too! I have been debating between it and Harvest for quite awhile. I have not been in blog land lately, and I have missed it. I love to read your posts.

I'm so sorry Little Buddy is not feeling well. Hopefully, he'll be on the mend right quick.

Your yarn storage is so pretty. Mine is just stuffed in Rubbermaid totes until we get settled some place permanent.

Hope you have a fun week with you litte one for spring break.

A relaxing, at-home week will be good for your little one. I hope he bounces back quickly. Our spring break is coming the following week, and I'm hoping to do some serious organizing in my craft room, too. There's just too much stuff! I'm inspired by your efforts.

I'm so sorry to hear about your little guy having the flu. That Tamiflu is amazing. I had to take it two years ago and I couldn't believe how fast I felt better once I started on it. There is so much sickness this year. We're finally getting some warmer weather but that's brought a whole round of either allergies or colds, I'm not sure which. Both Dennis and I have been sick over the weekend.

I'm so impressed with your organization. I'm trying not to buy any more new yarn. I have bought sock yarn because I didn't have any, but that's all. Otherwise I'm trying to knit my charity projects out of my stash. Goodness knows I have a lot of it! Since were thinking of selling our house in the next few years and downsizing considerably, I definitely need to get busy and do some serious decluttering. That had been the plan for this winter before my various escapades Thta have kept me in bed most of the winter.

I hope the rest of you stay healthy and I'll be praying for your little guy to get completely better.
Blessings, Betsy

I'm so glad your little guys is doing better. It's so scary when our children get sick. My Emily had terrible asthma and was hospitalized when she was 3. I remember her doctor saying children can get ill quickly but also get well quickly. I found that to be true. But the worry is still intense.

I admire your organization. I thought I would have made a dent by now. I lack motivation. I was going to purge a lot of winter clothes, coats and boots when the needy could have used this stuff...well winter is almost over. Not a good feeling. I'll keep plugging along!

Have a good week, Mere!

Poor Little B, I hope he recovers so quickly that he still can enjoy the holiday week.
Wow, you've been tidying and organizing very well. If you can't stop doing that, you can always come to my place ;-)
I smiled when I read about the 'hello' from your parents ( with the plant blooming twice ). I had the same thought when the cactus of my mother had a flower for the first time in 6 years... It's good to have such warm thougths.
Take care, Sigrid

Oh no! Little Buddy should never have to be sick.....hope he's better soon! He's looking more big boy everyday. He's growing into a very handsome young man. ;-) As for organizing....good for you! I need to do more of it but I'm terrible with yarn rules. It's such a weekness for me. Those sheep are very sweet!

Hope Little Buddy is feeling much better by now. Your flowers are so pretty...we, on the other hand, are in for more snow (a foot or more!). Hope your week goes well!

I hope LB is well on his way to recovery by now. And gaining weight, too.
You are inspiring. I own that book; maybe it would be more effective if I read it! I so want to pare down our stuff. Even yarn.
The flowers are gorgeous. We didn't get a blizzard, but we have enough fresh snow for it to feel like January.

Hope by now that LB is all better and that you are enjoying a bit of a break from the usual.

You are already very organized and I love it, just like how I love your decorate every holiday season. It's inspiring. I really feel good if I remind myself I don't have to do a big to do, just a drawer or just a something. It's not all I want to do, but it is SOMETHING.

I'm so glad that LB has the week to be on the mend. I have been surrounded by sick folk. My husband, my bestie at work, 2 other co workers, my hair stylist had to cancel. Seriously the list is long and yes with flu or flu like symptoms. sigh. But it's good all these people are heading in the right direction. If I may play at Auntie, perhaps LB can have a few extra treats this week you know um ... for medicinal purposes. hehe.

Have a good week. The yarn for the flaum looks so nice!

Wow! You *have* been busy, Meredith! I'm glad LB is on the mend. It must have been disconcerting for him to not show any fever or obvious sign of serious illness beforehand.
As always, love the zygocactus blooms. I'm impressed with your organising and decluttering.thanks for the extra tips. No matter how organised we are , there are always new tricks to be gleaned to improve or tweak our strategies.
Good luck and good health to you and yours, especially your gorgeous Little Buddy xx
