More of the same in December.......

I had a brief break in my day today as suddenly five of the little ones I work with have fallen ill.  They are in three different homes so something is going around.  I want no part of it, so I came back home for an hour or two to get a few things done.  Hmmm.... with so much to do this time of year I decided to blog?  Really, I must have my head examined.

I can't stop taking photos of my Christmas cactus or my beautiful poinsettias.  They are just so stunning.

A few more Santa's from my mantle.  The last Santa, the blurry one, was the very first Santa I bought.  He started the whole Santa craze.  I found him at a wonderful art show up in Roger's City, MI, where my parents used to live.  They had a big Nautical Festival and art show every summer.  When my big boys were little we went up every summer to visit and have fun.  The carnival rides cost about a million dollars and looked very unsafe, yet we went every year we could.  The whitefish sandwiches were delicious!  Roger's City is located way up in northern Michigan, right on Lake Huron.

Yup, more crocheting.  This time with gift yarn in deep, rich colors.  Of course I had to go out and buy more contrast yarn this past weekend.  I am thinking of all different ways to join these circles. I hope to come up with a much better solution than the cowls.  I have 20 circles made so far, with many more in my future.  I love this mindless crocheting.  I made about five of them watching the Alabama election last night.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever be glued to the TV over an election in Alabama.  The results give me hope........

Look who got new cozy jammies.  He is a very loud, growling dinosaur.  There is just nothing cuter than a little one in cozy pj's.  Well unless they are constantly growling at you!

Okay, enough mid week playing.  I have to get back to work!

I don't really do houseplants but I've just bought myself a Christmas cactus. It's only small at the moment but I've got high hopes of it becoming such a beautiful plant as the one you've got there. Little Buddy is the cutest dinosaur I've ever seen, even if he is growling.

Glad that you decided to blog instead of doing some householding :-)
Those Santa's you've collected are really pretty. Strange how some collecting 'fevers' seem to start out of the blue sometimes.
I love the yarn you've used for those circles!
And how you write about your boy in his 'cozy jammies' made me smile (again, everytime you write about him, I smile).
Good news about that elections by the way, I keep my fingers crossed.
Take care Meredith!

Such cute little pajamas and a cute little boy inside of them! There is, indeed, something going around. So many people are sick right now. I’m hoping against hope that it all ends before Christmas. I love all of your photos. Your Santas are amazing.
Blessings always, Betsy

Lovely new pjs, it's a good time of year for new pjs. Glad you've had a tiny break from work, it is very well deserved. The Christmas cactus is looking amazing, I love the pink-edged petals. Great to see that first Santa, you have a fantastic collection. Hope the rest of the week goes well. CJ xx

Oh I'm so jealous of your Christmas cactus in bloom! I put a photo of mine on my blog post just now.. not a flower on it. LOL! I love the jammies you got for your little guy.. he looks so scary! I'm also so hopeful from the results of the Alabama. But it was too close.. I can't believe so many people of my demographic voted for a accused young girl molester. Horrible. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

The only thing better than being in cozy pj's is snuggling someone in said pj's!!! lol

Love the crocheted circles-I like them in their wreath formation!

It's nice that you took some time to just relax and blog for a bit. That's what it's supposed to be about, enjoying the process of blogging. And taking a few minutes for yourself during this crazy time of year is a good idea, too! I had to laugh when I read about watching the election returns in Alabama. I guess it's no crazier than the rest of this year has been, but it gives me hope as well. Cute little ferocious dinosaur!

Well, I'm glad you took a break to say hello and what's up to us! I will take growling cozy dino jammies anyday over teenager in his underwear and a t-shirt on the couch. LOL.

It's funny how we reallocate our time when we have it. I decided against baking for the school staff boxes and opted for baking this morning for the work staff holiday meeting instead. I knew others were baking for the school, but no one was nec. bringing anything for the meeting since we were going out to lunch later. I think the fact that I wasn't obligated in either direction let me feel like I could choose guilt-free.

Hope you are doing well and enjoying all your time.

I still can’t believe the out come of the Alabama election. I didn’t watch. I was afraid I’d be disappointed. It was nice to wake up to the good news, way to go Alabama! I had a headache on Tuesday and now I’m feeling very behind on all I want to get accomplished. I’m hopeful most of it will get done. Your Santa collection is sweet and so is that roaring dinosaur.

That dinosaur looks pretty dangerous. I certainly would be careful. ;-)

Your Christmas cactus is lovely. That is a beautiful shade of pink. I think I should go out and buy another. All my Florida plants got adopted out before I moved north.

Wishing you a good week with no sniffles or tummy troubles. I hear it is going around here too.

I ate a bag of chips and a box of Christmas Dots watching that election and then chewed off several fingernails. I didn't sleep all night from the high. You don't get to celebrate long though. Now it's on to fight for net neutrality. I am really exhausted from all this resisting.

My Christmas cactus has exploded just like yours. I love it!
And Little B is rocking those jammies!

I could kick myself, I have just sent an amazing dinosaur outfit to charity - I should have thought of little buddy and sent it over. He is such a sweetie. Love the colourful yarn, very cheerful. Have a wonderful weekend with plenty of crochet time xx

Your poinsettia is so lovely. I 've thought of getting one, but they do say Christmas to me, and I try to make the season about Hanukkah in our house.
Your crocheted circles are so lovely. They'd make beautiful wreath.
I love new jammies, too, although they do not turn me into a dino.

I'm glad you had a chance to take a blog break - though sorry to hear the kiddos you see are sick. Good idea to stay far away from them for now. Am jealous over your flowering Christmas cactus...I'm lucky if mine gets one bloom a year. Must be all that wonderful Florida sunshine. Love Little Buddy's dinosaur PJ's!

We were all glued to the tv that night. And we all discussed the results in knit class the next few days. Watching events in your country is both horrifying mesmerizing and now maybe a glimmer of hope and light.
You mentioned in a post earlier you were tired... well no doubt! All your shawls are gorgeous and I love all the beautiful colours you have chosen . It seems you are knocking them off weekly!! I love all your Xmas Santas!! Lovely memories and keepsakes .
I wish I could see lovely flowers out my window... but it’s dry and no snow yet!
What a fierce monster you have in your home/ so darn cute! And he’s growing so fast ! Hope you have a good weekend buddy!!

More of the same is fine by me! Mindless crochet is just we need sometimes isn't it? A distraction from the big stuff. Love Jo x

I miss my Christmas Cactus! (Which bloomed without fail on Thanksgiving every year, but it was still lovely!)

Hooray for the Suburban Backlash and the lack of apathy in these latest elections. It's time for the country to come to its senses (and for Mueller to hurry up)!

Love your beautiful Christmas cactus and Poinsettia. My Christmas cactus is a favourite plant of mine, it's lovely to see such vibrant colour when it chooses to flower. Since finishing my blanket, my crochet is a more slow and concentrated effort rather than the mindless relaxing kind. Enjoy it whatever you do, Cathy x

CUTEST little dinosaur! ;) Meredith, you have THE most beautiful Santas! And I can't blame you for taking photos of those poinsettias and cactus; they are show stopping. I think when we take time to notice and appreciate the beauty around us, it heals our souls. Those are good medicine. I look forward to seeing what you do with your circles; that last cowl was great! blessings ~ tanna

Your Christmas cactus is beautiful! I'm so proud that I didn't kill mine over the summer and it's blooming once again, although it's blooms are no where near as pretty as yours.
