While I should be relaxing and enjoying Christmas this is happening.........................

While I should be sitting down drinking tea, knitting or crocheting, all while being one with the darn holiday that is quickly descending upon us, I am not doing any of those things.  Today was Botox day for Little Buddy, so even with a nasty cold that was given to me from my little one, and three hours of sleep, really just three, we were off at the crack of dawn driving down to the children's hospital in St. Petersburg for those shots.  It is miserable out today.  Now granted I know I live in Florida so really how miserable can it be?  It is very windy, yet humid, yet cold, yet raining in big huge drenching spurts, then sunny again all in a matter of an hour.  This weather is messing with all of us.  Little Buddy was on two medications before the procedure, and frankly his doctor can't believe he was awake, chatting about cars and elevators and walking with his crutches.  He should be knocked out!  We survived just slightly better than the last time we did this, which was better than the time before.  On top of oral medications to relax him and for pain, we also tried a cream that numbs the area.  It sort of worked but would have worked better if they had actually given me the instructions on how to use it.  Create a thick layer, wrap the leg in saran wrap an hour before the procedure and you will have less pain.  I just got the instructions, rub on area one hour prior to the injections.  Still it was better than last time so there is real hope for the next round in three months.

So this is what I am doing instead.  Nope not the actual tiling but the clean up from the tiling.  We were supposed to get this done in January but the lovely two men doing it had a last minute cancellation this week so of course I said yes, I mean how much mess could tiling make?  Can I tell you honestly?  A LOT!  We needed to do some updating from the forest green tile that was around the fireplace and the tile on our front porch and into our front entrance was old and shifting so the grout was constantly breaking apart.  I had the grout replaced two years ago but it just would not work anymore.  The cabinets, counter tops and sinks in our master bath are next.  They are dated, see green tile above, and the cabinets were not the best to begin with and are showing a lot of wear and tear.  This is the least expensive way to update the bathroom, not a lot of work and relatively small expense compared to a big redo  I can't wait to see it finished it will look so fresh.  The cabinets have been ordered, the sinks and faucets purchased.  The quartz counter top is picked out but can't even be measured until the new cabinets come in.  It will be a while until that room is finished.

This area is also getting fixed.  Do you remember when my three month old puppies dug a hole in my laundry room wall and ripped up the wallpaper when I left them alone for exactly 6 minutes?  This area will now be white beadboard with a small chair rail on top.  Sort of like it was a design plan all along.

So I am cleaning today while chilled and miserable from this cold.  I have six days off from work for Christmas, I hope I am not ill that whole time!  Okay, I need to get cleaning while I am still able to stand up.  See you soon!

I’m sorry that you’re having such a miserable start to your time off Mere. I also hope that this cold is short-lived. I’m glad that your little guy is finished with those shots for another three months and next time you’ll know just what to do!
Your tile work is beautiful and it’s all going to look amazing when it’s finished. That’s what I’m telling myself today too. We’re having our wood stove replaced with a gas one and my nice clean living room now looks like a tornado has swept through it. Plus, there are huge holes in the outside wall of our house. Plus, they’ve shut our heat off for the day and it’s 28° outside. I keep telling myself it will be wonderful when it’s all done. Maybe you can do the same? Wishing you a wonderful Christmas my dear friend and that you’ll soon be feeling much, much better. Blessings always, Betsy

Sure sounds like the holiday spirit has been avoiding your house despite all the lovely decorations. I hope the injections helps LB. And it's just as well to get the fireplace work done.
I hope your 6 days are filled with fun and festivities, not cleaning and cooking. We have a full two-week break this year. I know. I almost feel guilty about it. I'm hoping to spend the second week decluttering!

Eeek, you'll be ready for a break at Christmas after all that. Glad that Little Buddy's procedure went better than last time, no fun for him at all, bless him.

Ooh, gorgeous new tile, I'm glad they've got it done for you now, although it's a lot of work, think how wonderful you'll feel when it's all sorted. I hope you get everything done soon and that you feel better very soon too. Enjoy your six days off, they are very well deserved. I have been flirting with a sore throat for the past week or so, I am hoping I'm winning. Have a good weekend. CJ xx

It seems like it is always something. My kids Dad is having heart bypass surgery right now. He lives in Colorado and is alone so at some point Sara will go out there, most likely when he gets out of the hospital. Sunday is her anniversary so her husband planned a little getaway for them. She is taking this time for herself and him while keeping in touch with the hospital. Crazy. I have Scout for a few days while Tiger is staying with friends. I'm having a good time with her but she misses her Mommy and Daddy of course. We will be fine. So all that to say I hope you get some rest between now and Christmas. It's not always easy is it.

Yikes, lots of work, but it sounds like it will be really nice when you get it all done. Pace yourself. Glad the procedure went better and hope the next one is even better. How does the Botox work? I've only heard of it to make stupid looking puffy lips for hollywood folks.

What a generous little soul - giving you a cold for Christmas. 'tis the season for generosity after all! :-/ I wonder if that cream is a lignocaine cream. Where I live the kids know it as "magic cream"! We have the same technique - wrapping in plastic food wrap.

I have a friend for whom botox provides good relief from CP symptoms. I hope it is just as effective for LB. Any relief is welcome relief. Such a shame that it wears off after a while.

You have my sympathy around the inconvenience of renovations but if you are happy with the result it is worth it and why not get it over and done with as quickly as possible. Sorry it has eaten into your craft time.

Be careful not to overdo things while under the weather or it might take longer to recover. Sending healing hugs xx

I, too, was wondering how the Botox works with Little Buddy? He must be one very excited boy as Christmas draws near.
Take care of yourself. I’m sending a “virtual” steaming pot of delicious chicken soup to help with your cold. Take it as easy as you can, so you can enjoy your days off. Be well.

Oh goodness.. I'm glad you are getting the new tile but what a time to have to have workmen in the house! LOL! I'm sorry you're ill. Winter is awful for viruses and such. How wonderful that you have a whole week off.. I'm so happy for you my friend! I did some more wrapping today and tidied up and I'm so enjoying the lights and decorations. What a fun morning we had with Kristi surprising the boys with a new puppy. A Christmas to remember. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Oh gosh!!!! You're not having a good start to your time off. Isn't that typical of puppies?....can't turn your back on them for a second. I can relate as if Milo finds socks anywhere....they're totally eaten and destroyed. lol Milo is 4 now!!!! lol I hope now everything will go on an uphill direction for you. Merry Christmas sweet pea.....to you and yours. xx

Any kind of remodeling always means a clean-up, but I'm sure workers there don't leave as much of a mess behind like they do here. :/

Hope you get rid of that cold quickly. My husband had one for weeks accompanied with a cough that I thought he'd never get rid of.

Any means of reducing pain in children should definitely be administered effectively. I know at the hospital where I volunteer there's a gel they put on the hands of kids 15 minutes before they insert the IV. Some of our chronic patients would cry every time they had to get an IV but the gel makes a huge difference.

Don't do too much work. Take care of yourself and get some rest. Happy holidays!

I feel your tiling pain. Except in our case, we're replacing carpet with wood flooring. And my husband is doing it himself.... at approximately the rate of one board per week. This flooring project is getting dangerously close to outlasting our marriage. :) Hopefully, sometime in the future, we'll both have much nicer areas in our homes. Hope you feel better soon. It's miserable being sick at Christmas.

I am glad the Botox treatment was a bit less traumatic this time. Hopefully, next time it will be even less stressful. I know that cream all too well. It is used here for example to take blood from a small child's arm. It is usually applied in clinic and covered up, then the long wait starts...
Good luck with the cleanup, tiling is so messy. It is so worth it though, new tiles can completely change a room. Wishing you a peaceful Sunday. xx

So busy and workmen in the house too. I know about tiles and the mess they make....everything is tiled here and the tiniest job produces so much dust!

Do hope you get better soon and you are able to enjoy some Christmas quality time :-)

take care

I hope you feel better soon! I am walloped by my sinus infection and I'm on medicine for it! Three hours of sleep is criminal :( Hope you have a fabulous holiday!!

I certainly hope that you are not ill the entire time too! I love remodelling, but the mess can quite stressful. We are redoing floors, paint and trim upstairs in the New Year, so that should help the winter fly on by.
Whatever are the Botox injections for? I hate needles and will use whatever possible to avoid going through them or feeling them. Hopefully next time, it will be even easier for Little Buddy.
Hugs and Love to You this Christmas and may 2019 bring lots of good news and happiness!
Andrea
