Saturday ramblings........

Well my friends how are you?  How has your week been?  Any news?  We are all good here at my house.  It has been a good week even though it rained and my roof now leaks so I guess you can say it was raining inside as well as outside.  We really needed the rain outside, inside not so much.  Still it can be fixed and we don't technically need a new roof yet but we are getting close.  So good news, right?

I finished yet another shawl for a dear friend I just adore.  This is made with Berroco Pima 100% cotton yarn in the color Basil.  I love it and yes it is another Elise Shawl bringing my grand total of making these to about 10,000, I think.  I used two skeins of yarn chosen particularity for this friend and a size J hook.  This pattern is so easy and makes such a great shawl, I hope she likes it.

This little boy went to bed last night not feeling quite himself.  He did not eat dinner just acted very tired.  He slept 13 hours last night and now looks perkier but still is quiet.  His fur brothers are keeping a close eye on him as is Mom!  I actually think he is growing and that might be what all this sleeping is about.  He has declared today a pajama day and so there it is, it's official.   He is currently in my office playing on his iPad with his favorite stuffed monkey, Mona, at his side.  Two fur boys are also in here with us, it is crowded but lovely having them all so close.

Yesterday I started a new project after cleaning, schooling and ending my work week.  This is the Cannonlands Boho Top.  I found it after a pretty big search on Ravelry last weekend.  I wanted to use more of my stash yarn and this Universal Yarn, Inc., Cotton Supreme DK yarn seemed perfect.  I bought this yarn years ago when a local yarn store went out of business so I have been waiting for the perfect project for it.  Wish me luck!

We got through the school week pretty intact minus a meeting I just could not seem to be able to attend with a special teacher of Little Buddy's.  We could not find the invite, then could not get the iPad or my computer to allow us in, then his assistant tried to help me through text messages that didn't help either, until I finally just said we were done and that was that.  I am a bit of a pain as I am not that tech savvy and all these younger parents are, still I am trying and we are getting most of his work done.  We have school therapists to meet every week, assignments for his regular class, art, music and physical education, there is a lot to get done every week.  So we will do our best and that is the best we can do!

There are fun assignments that are not mandatory but I still like him to do them so he can get as much exposure as the other kids in his class.  One of them was this wonderful lion made out of graphing points and connecting the dots.  Little Buddy's coloring is getting so much better, I am so proud of him  We also had to make an instrument for music from things we had at home, here he is with chop stick drum sticks on a box drum.

Darling Bear had to get his three stitches out yesterday.  I can't take him into the office so the vet tech  has to come out and get him from the car.  Let me just say Bear was having none of it and suddenly this 43 pound dog became 143 pounds and planted his feet and would not move.  The poor woman had to pick him up and carry him.  He was gone all of four minutes and returned stitch free, but as you can see he is still not over the trauma.  Hank barked the whole time we were gone bless him, but now they are reunited and all is well.

As for the rest of the weekend a lot or REST is in order for both Little Buddy and me.  I am trying to get over one of my big headaches and he just needs to be quiet.  How about you?  What is in store for you today?  Stay well my friends and see you soon.

I was giving Pup a trim and a toenail clipping this morning while The Mister was holding her and I was telling him of your grooming adventure. He watched me very carefully after that. Thankfully Pup survived and so did I. I HATE cutting her nails.
My Grand's school system botched the roll out of their online classes so badly they had to cancel it all and fire the person in charge. What a mess. My sister says that our county had to end all their Zoom lessons because hackers were breaking in with porn. Another mess. My Daughter has been doing Zoom workshops through US Figure Skating with her students and one of them figured out how to write a very bad word on the white board of the very $$$ instructor. My Daughter was furious. This is all so crazy.

I look forward to seeing how those lovely dogs are, how your sweet little boy is (and hope he is feeling better as the day goes on) and how you are in the today we are living in. Some days are tougher to get through. Finding that keeping my thoughts leaning towards positive instead of scared helps but pulling the good out of the what is happening in the world is so foreign to our lives.

Love seeing the lion and the drum.

Thank you Meredith for sharing today, hope your headache fades away, that you both had big rests, that there were some sweet little boy hugs and some big dog love handy.

Hugs.
Joy

What a beautiful shawl. I will have a look at the pattern, thanks for the link. Buddy's coloring is excellent. He must be an artist. The dogs look so sweet...

Mer.. I so admire you for all the balls you keep in the air. Of course I raised 3 and did scouts and milked goats and all.. I guess all moms are super-heroes actually! The good ones, anyway. I hope you rest all day tomorrow and send that headache packing. I hope your little guy perks up, too! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I'm glad your week was better dear Meredith although I'm sorry to hear about your leak. It's always something, isn't it? Glad the boys were reunited after the vet visit and that it went well. Well, except for the hesitant fur baby. :-)
Technology is a challenge isn't it? I'm sure you're doing wonderfully well with Little Buddy's school work. I'm also sure that you're not the only parent that has issues with the technology needed these day. He did magnificently on the lion and he looks like a world class drummer with those chopsticks. :-)
Thank you for the offer of the interfacing but I don't want to take yours. I had a couple of readers suggest places to buy it but they were out of stock too. I think I may just try to use the fabric itself as interfacing. Do you think that will work? It's just the neckline and cap sleeves. Nothing too big. I think everyone is buying up interfacing online to make masks. No one seems to know when it will be back in stock.
I hope your week is a good one Meredith and that everyone stays well. I will be praying for your sweet little man and that he's just having a growth spurt and nothing more.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

Bertie was exactly the same at the vet's. I told him to sit and stay in the car park, which he did, then I put the lead down and walked away and the vet came and got him. She tried pulling but he was frozen to the spot in fear and in the end she had to pick him up. He's a bit smaller than your chaps though! I hope Little Buddy is feeling himself again very soon and that a pyjama day sorts him out. Hurray for furry and stuffed friends. CJ xx

Doing as good as you can must be enough! At this time, by this means, under these circumstances good is good enough. It's important to have goals we can reach. We can't be pros in all subjects. There is a wonderful world besides the digital-tech-madness.
Everything will be fine! Hugs, Regula

The photo of Hank and Bear on the sofa next to Little Buddy really puts into perspective how big they are. I wouldn't have fancied carrying Bear into the vet's office. What a beautiful shawl, you do have some very lucky friends who have been on the receiving end of one of your creations.

Nice to catch up on your news! Your darling little boy does look bigger, growing up. Here things are changing, the government is lifting many of the restrictions and it is beginning to feel a little closer to normal. Is it too soon? Who can tell.

Technology has been a bit of challenge but the family are really good and talk us through it all, so we are managing. Hope you and Little Buddy feel better soon. So nice that the fur boys were reunited and are doing well. Love the shawl, such a stunning gift. Take care and stay safe.

I hear you about the headaches. Our weather has been so ridiculous and changeable that I've had several. Each time, I can't believe I'm getting another one.

The stress of so many things being different and challenging isn't helping either, I know.

Take care. I really enjoy seeing what you've been up to.

I never quite realised how big Hank and Bear are! Glad the stitches are out, I bet they were itchy. You made another pretty shawl, you are the queen of pretty shawls! Have a lovely week x

Darn those headaches ! I was hoping you had escaped them this weekend.

Lil buddy's Lion is perfect!!!!!

And your green cotton shawl gift is so so lovely.

Getting Vet care is an issue for zach right now. He lives kind of far from the vet and has no car. He has ordered his shots and will have to administer them. But they seem never to be coming!

Miss Pie is unhappy with too many changes this weekend. Her lil blind self .....knows the piano is taken apart, and the porch is cleaned and has different furniture.....Tank just growled at her for resting in HIS spot

beautiful shawl, you do such lovely work!! Our previous dog was 67 pounds and refused to get in and out of a car so that's why I got a mini schnauzer (14 pounds!) so I could easily pick up and put down. He is a snuggly guy too which is kind of nice. My kids used to go through growth spurts and they were clumsy and ornery.

Cheers that the stitches are out, another lovely gift is stitched, the roof can be fixed, you survived another tech challenge and you and Little Buddy are aimed to get needed rest! I am learning to use Zoom cloud meetings online. It is a joy seeing familiar faces and visiting with family and friends during this time of social distancing! xx

Even before you said you thought Little Buddy is growing, I thought, He is getting so big! He's been growing.
Doggies look so sweet!

LOVE the pretty green shawl, am sure your friend will love it. I'll have to check out the pattern. Anxious to see your current project grow as well. Yes Buddy looks bigger to me. Cute idea the lion and the drum. Stay well and good luck with the tech stuff. I've been having cocktails with 2 girl friends on Facetime using my ipad. No problems the first couple of times, then all of sudden they can't hear me and we don't know why. So I loaded zoom on my computer and we used it without incident the other night.

Never a dull moment, is there? Little Buddy's coloring is so good! He's really improving. So sweet that your cute pups look over him.

Your shawls are so beautiful...

I'm sorry you have another headache. Hope you are better now since I'm a bit behind on reading your blog post.

I say Little Buddy's word is official and it is PJ day! Here it is rainy and cold, so staying in and staying comfy as can be is the perfect way to pass the time away. I do hope Little Buddy is okay and it is as you suspect - growing. It is, after all, very hard work.

Have a lovely weekend,
Andrea

I'm sorry to be late in catching up with this post but also sorry you have been struck with headache(s) again. May you be pain free by the time this message reaches you.
Funny how puppies will just plant themselves - imagine when it is one's guide dog doing that! Not the most helpful and very stressful! This has happened to a couple of people I know of. I believe it is a stage that many young dogs go through. At least your dogs can communicate with you unequivocally!
No wonder you ended up with a headache!
Wishing you easier days, my friend. xx
