Thoughts on a Saturday in as few words as possible........

This has been a very long week in every way imaginable so I am taking today to regroup.  My husband flew to Wisconsin to drive a friend down so Little Buddy and I are going to have a slow and easy day.  My mind and body are spent, sorry if I sound dramatic but I feel I am nearing a bit of a breakdown so I am going to relax today and regroup.

In special news this little boy can now eat corn right off the cob.  This might not seem like a big deal but for a boy with Cerebral Palsy and jaw instability it is a huge milestone.  I sent this photo to Ms Renee, Little Buddy's speech therapist and she almost cried.  He has come so far.

My Grand dog Luna is here for the weekend.  She is a pistol and while liking her new apartment has caused a bit of trouble this week and her parents needed a break.  How about tearing up your Dad's law book while he is in the bathroom.  Now my son did leave it on his bed, and she likes paper, so it was really his fault, but you can see why he needed a break.

Little Buddy and I have had a go at growing an avocado tree.  This one finally took off.  I planted it in a pot today and am hoping for the best.  Our next seed is still on the window sill with no signs of life at this point.

This is what I hope to be doing much of the day.  Sitting on my behind and playing with yarn.  It is exactly what I need to do to calm my weary mind and body.

We did have a quick trip outside this morning to ride the jeep.  It has been months since we did this, Little Boy gets very nervous about it.  But he wanted to do it last night so we charged it up and he had success.  I am so proud of him when he faces his fears and feels good about his accomplishments.

And this is just because I saw these new ferns growing on my camphor tree this morning and thought they were beautiful in the sunlight.

I will leave you with these two looking for Luna after she left on Wednesday.  Ms L brings her along when she is with Little Buddy on Monday and Wednesdays.  It is a win win for everyone.  Little Buddy has an excellent nanny that I trust and he loves.  The boys get to play with Luna.  Everyone is happy.

Stay safe my friends.

What a great milestone for Little B! Corn on the cob is one of my favourite things about summer!

Well done LB he's come on so much you have every right to be proud of him and yourself too, without your love and encouragement he wouldn't have come this far. Try and chill this weekend and enjoy your crocheting here's hoping that next week is an easier one. xx

I hope you get to recharge your batteries this weekend. It seems everyone is on edge at the moment. Daughter and I just had a good cry on the phone together. I keep reminding her to be kind to herself. These are extraordinary times we are living in.
Your boys always lift my spirits. What happy fellas!

I hope you have a restful weekend Meredith. Things are getting crazy here with a demonstration today in Edinburgh of about 500 people purporting to be anti-mask wearers and calling out our government for lying about statistics. When I saw the headlines tonight, I almost lost the will to live. There's no end in sight. Keep safe and keep eating your beautiful corn-on-the-cob, Little B. xxx

Well done to Little Buddy, what a great achievement, that boy is smashing all his goals. Oh dear, I can imagine Luna was in the dog house there tearing up her dad's law book. I'm sure she wasn't in bother for long though, who could resist that little face!

I know you always have so much on your plate, I am glad to hear you are listening to your body and mind and finally taking a day of rest. You are right, Mere ~ you could have a breakdown if you kept going. It's a scary reality. Please take care of yourself. I care.

What a wonderful accomplishment for Little Buddy with eating corn on the cob AND wanting to ride in his jeep! :-)

Hi Mere, I do hope you have a stress-free day of working on that gorgeous pink yarn, I love the pattern you're doing. I'm glad your little guy is continuing to grow and learn and is breaking barriers all the time. He's so lucky to have you as a mom. Sending XOXOs your way. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Sorry you're feeling at the limit of everything, I hope you have a rest over the weekend and that you're feeling better very soon. Well done that little man for getting the better of that sweet corn, and for the jeep driving, he is unstoppable! That picture of Luna, Hank and Bear made me smile, I imagine they have lots of fun together. Have a lovely Sunday Meredith. Hugs, CJ xx

With all you do and have responsibility for, you still find time to Blog. Thank you-- but remember what the airline attendants say "Take care of yourself first so you can then help others."

So sorry you had a rough week, but good for you for taking care of yourself today. Two mantras I have learned along the way are, "Not happening now" for those what-if worries, and "Could be worse!" I also sometimes make a circle with my arms to remind me that what is outside of the circle is beyond my control. Hope this week goes better for you.

Meredith, Rest. Rest . rest. and crochet.
I saw a really darling story on Sunday Morning. A man and his son ride their bikes to the end of a block every day. Same time same route. This neighbor didn't know them but began to draw chalk maps on his driveway with stop signs etc. The boy and his dad now ride around his tracks. He changes them often. Such a sweet story. I thought of Lil B. Iim sending you an email link.

It looks like everyone had extra fun play this time! And there cheers on the corn. Yes, I think I would cry if I saw that. You know, last night we had corn for dinner and you just eat it and don't think about how much of a challenge it can be for some. This really moved me.

Does Buddy enjoy music? Have you heard about the RicStar summer music camp for kids with special needs? It's really wonderful (at Michigan State). Last year they had to do it virtually but it's inspiring. It was founded by friends of mine, Judy and Dick Winter, several years after their son died because they wanted a living legacy for him that would help others. There are loads of scholarships and kids come from everywhere. Maybe next June it will feel safe enough to be in person again. Let me know if it sounds something Buddy might like.

Looks like a great day with puppies, crocheting and family time. I hope that you feel better. It is tough having difficult times and they do weigh on us. Sounds like you are giving yourself some good down time that is so needed. Take care! x

every picture alone is enough to keep me going
for the whole week!
maybe Puppy Luna is studying to become a lawyer doggy style. ingesting the knowledge as it were... therefore. and forthwith. and not withstanding. you know. XO

Hello dear Meredith. What sweet photos today. From your handsome little guy eating corn on the cob, (Yay, LB!!!), to the cute dog photos. It's so great that all three dogs get along so well. Puppies can be such a trial as you well know, but the love that they give is so worth it.
I'm so sorry that the week has been a rough one for you. I couldn't possibly say I know how you feel, because no one REALLY knows the feelings of another person do they? Our week has been a rough one too. In fact the entire year so far. Dennis and I have lost an Aunt, an Uncle, a brother and now a sister so far this year. I want to erase 2020 off of the calendar if it were possible.
My friend, I will be praying for you daily. I almost always do anyway, and for your family, but I will make sure I do. I hope you feel my arms giving you a big virtual hug. I hope you find time for lots of crochet and LB smiles.
Blessings, love and hugs,
Betsy

These are tiring and stressful times. Best to do what you must to find your Joy and take care of yourself and your loved ones. If there is anything at all left over, do what you can to make the world a better place if you can.

It's all we can do. Take care.

Good to see Buddy eat corn on the cob and drive his Jeep! Good job, Buddy! I watched a FB story video of Harper, who has cerberal palsy ask her granny to pray before their food. She did and then Harper said, Amen! She so cute and learning to talk more! They attend church we attend. It's been a rough few days for me and I am getting better. I am glad to get a few things done. Even though life has changed, I will get through this and so will you, my friend! I know it's not easy at times. I need to finish my knitting project so I can knit or cross stitch something else. I like your crochet projects. Take care my friend and praying you feel better in your mind and health. Adorable bro dogs! x-----x Becky L

Little Buddy, not so little now, looks so grown up and you are right that it is a huge milestone for him. The dogs look as cute as ever and yes, my Herbie has eaten one or two things ( a very lovely skein of yarn)(a book) that he should not have been able to reach. My bad and I did need time out while Michael rescued most of the yarn.

the world has opened up for him to enjoy corn on the cob!! How exciting for you and for him :)

Meredith! You need to take care of yourself. I hope you got the knitting time that you hoped for.
It is just so exciting that LB is eating corn on the cob. He really is growing and expanding his world.
I don't know how you handle all those dogs on top of LB and working. No wonder you are exhausted!

Well if anything will help work off Luna's energy it will be wrestling with your two furry boys!

Hope you had a restful weekend and a chance to recharge your batteries, Mere. Playing with yarn is so soothing, isn't it? It's what I do when I need to mentally hide away from the world.

That fern on the camphor tree is lovely, and LB eating corn on the cob is wonderful.
