37 is not 41!

Here is a picture of my sock progress. It has been slow and a bit tedious but I like it. I am ready for the heel so now have to wait for further instructions. I love using the double pointed needles and watching how the sock self stripes. It is a bit large but I don't think my Mom will care. She is the intended recipient, don't mention it if you see her.

Here is a lovely picture of the Noro vest. I haven't forgotten about it due to sock fever, just in case you were worried. I was happily knitting along yesterday at swim practice, just minding my own business. I was decreasing for the neck and the arm at the same time on both fronts, when IT happened. I realized that I had 41 stitches on the left front and 37 on the right. 37 stitches is the correct number of stitches to cast on for a small. If you know me at all you would know that I am a small size for anything on top. I apparently at the age of 44 do not know how to count and/or follow a pattern. I think the Knitting Gods are trying to tell me to slow down. So I had no choice but to unravel the left front. It is now in a lovely Noro ball ready for me to get my act together and start again. Maybe I should practice counting before I cast on. What do you think?

Its happened to me. So frustrating, but what can you do but rip it all out and start over? I totally sympathize with you. I did that with a sweater I have yet to finish - it was the arm. Yanked it all out and started again!
