Yesterday I put my husband and oldest son on a plane to Irvine, CA. David is participating in his first national swim meet at the age of 16. He qualified last summer as a 15 year old, but we had plans to go to Amsterdam and Paris so he had to wait.
Jr. Nationals hosts the best 18 and under swimmers in the country. It is a very tough, fast meet. David has qualified in 4 events. The 200 fly, 200 and 400 IM and the 800 free. He will swim on Monday, Tuesday and Friday of this week.
I had planned on attending the meet with him, but plans have changed as my Mother isn't doing that well. I didn't feel I could be away in case something happened. I am a lucky girl as my sister Claudia is coming to visit on Wednesday.
It is tough not to be there to see him with this great experience. But I know there will be other big swim meets in his future.

Wasn't he a cutie!

Good luck David!! That is very exciting. I'm sure your husband will take lots of pix to share with you. What an exciting experience for him.
I hope your Mom is doing ok. I'm sending lots of healing energy your way. I know it will be good to have Claudia there with you next week.
Hang in there. hugs, Beth
Look at the younger David in that photo! They grow up so fast...darn it! I'm thinking of him as he swims in this exciting event. I can't wait to see you on Wednesday.
Love,
Claudia
