A bit of this and that and a Valentine in the mail

How are you this early Sunday morning?  Or Sunday afternoon, or evening, or whenever you might be reading this? We have had a nice weekend, sort of letting it unfold as it goes.  I finally saw the Disney movie Frozen yesterday for the first time.  I just might be the last one in the world to see it and it was wonderful.  The music, which two of the little ones I work with sing all the time, is fabulous.  The story has such a strong message.  I loved it and so did my knitting friend Cathy who so graciously watched it with me while we knitted.  I do have to question, once again, why all Disney movies seem to have a dead mother or dead parents?  Can't we have a good movie with the parents alive?  It was a fun afternoon watching a movie with a friend, having some tea, and playing with yarn, not much could be better than that.

Look what I got in the mail yesterday, a beautiful Valentine from my dear, dear friend Betsy.

This beautiful heart is a pin for me to wear for Valentine's Day, and any day I want because who would not want to spread the love around while wearing this pin?

Also inside the package was a very special card.  Betsy you are the best!!!!!  Thank you so much for my wonderful surprise, I am so thrilled.  Your heart pin is so beautiful and thoughtful.  Betsy, you make the world a better place.  Please stop by Betsy's blog and see all the wonderful things she makes for so many people in need, see her darling grandchildren and her wonderful life so filled with Faith and Love.  Betsy is such a blessing in my life and the lives of so many others.

This guy, who is never far away from his Mickey Mouse, has a stuffy nose, well a stuffy nose that runs.  Those noses are the worst kind.  He is all sniffles and sort of snotty all at the same time.

His best friend is giving him hugs and keeping him company, they are still having lots of fun despite the nose issues. Little Buddy calls him Mickey Mouse Clubhouse like the show on the Disney Channel.  We here at the house think Clubhouse is Mickey's new last name.  He loves his new underpants by the way, he tried to put them on his arms.  We had yet another talk about big boys doing their business on the potty and all that.  He will be ready when he is ready, and the one thing I know is he is stubborn, so this issue cannot be rushed.  We are all stubborn in this family so I wonder if stubbornness is genetic, or environmental, or both?

Max just looked so beautiful in the late afternoon sunlight yesterday, I had to take a few photos of him, not his favorite thing that is for sure.  We went to the vet this week for his yearly check up, she says my boy is doing great at the age of 10 1/2.  He has a bad hip, and allergies to wheat and corn, but he has doing beautifully and that is all we can ask.

As you can see he is ready for the big game today, are you?  I plan to visit a friend who is having a gathering before she and her husband move to Texas for a few years.  After that I am settling in to work on my sweater and watch the game.

Whatever your plans, I hope you have a great day.

Betsy is a sweet friend, love the heart pin! Well I haven't seen Frozen yet so may I'm the last one on earth...LOL! Boys! Tiger loved his underwear on his head for the longest time, but now is able to use the potty without many accidents at all. And I agree, when they are ready they will do it!

You know, both of my kids potty-trained really fast and I think it was because I just left it until they showed serious interest. I don't think you can push these things. I'm sure he'll let you know when it's time and then it will be easier on both of you. I'm glad you had the chance to watch Frozen. I really love it and I agree, the message is very important. I hope you're having a good weekend.

Hi Meredith.. I think LB just might decide he wants to wear those cute shorts soon. Stubbornness is a good trait, it means you're a leader, not a follower. We're just sitting by the fire watching Giada cook pork chops. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Max, and your little guy are both looking well despite their stuffy noses, and bad hip.

Sunshine sounds wonderful, we had more snow last night...but it keeps everyone happily playing with the snow blowers today.

"Let it go!" is my mantra!! Sometimes I have to say it a LOT!!! What a beautiful valentine, I am sure that it and you will spread a lot of love as you always do. Nature/nurture - I am sure that nurture is more important! Don't know what that says about stubborn, but it seems to be standing Buddy in good stead as he keeps on keeping on! xx

What a lovely gift. I remembered now I was going to do a giveaway of a valentines card and I forgot and now I don't know if I will have enough time. I finished that cardigan spurred on by your positive comments about wearing it with white t-shirt and jeans - I thought yes that would be good - but it is still awful!!! (well to me anyway)
have good week. Jo x

Betsy is a doll. I just love her. She has a light that shines bright for all who know her. Poor LB. Greg and I are sick too. Lots of sniffling and coughing going on here. Just lazing around and watching the football game. Green Bay ahead, but not by much.
Max, you handsome boy!!

I am trying to catch up with friends tonight. We have had such beautiful weather this weekend. Warm enough to take hubby out for a stroll around the parking lot in his wheelchair. I love seeing your pretty red tomato. Our weather has made you think that Spring is just around the corner, but it is a ways off. I haven't seen frozen yet. Have a great day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley

Hello,
Sound like a relaxing week-end. My Little man was potty-trained at 18 months, my nephew is still not at almost 3 years. I guess there is a time for each child...

Your friend made you such a lovely pin, what a super thoughtful gift! I haven't seen Frozen yet either, is it on Netflix? We watched the big game yesterday , it was so exciting. Most of BC are Seahawks Fans. Lots of Canadians go to Seatlle to watch the games. I made bread with you guessed it, squash in it haha. And some veggie soup!

What a gorgeous dog! And I've always thought that about Disney movies too! When I got to the end of Brave I was a bit confused that there was no handsome prince and both parents intact... :)

Dear Meredith,

Little Buddy and Max are just the sweetest boys! Poor little Buddy. The worst thing about colds with little ones I find is at night when they just keep coughing for hours on end. It's exhausting for them and it'n not much fun for parents either!

Your Valentine's card is simply delightful.

The thing I find about Disney films is that I never find the men physically attractive. Is that just me? :-)

Warmest wishes for a quick recovery for Little Buddy.

Stephanie

Awww max is too sweet and reminds me of Huck.
Lil Buddy and the big boy pants...maybe we should write a book. Thats a great title.
Once upon a time a little boy named Lil Buddy got some Mickey underpants. His legs were not as strong as his arms, so he put them on his arms. ....to be continued

Snotty noses are one of the many reasons I chose to work with teens instead of preschoolers! I don't get exposed to too many viruses at school.

I love Mickey's new last name!

Awww, Little Buddy, sweetie pie Max! Hope your hectic schedule settles down. I'm back to work after Christmas break, a snow day, three days of exams with late starts and a day of no kids at school for Records Day. It is SOOO hard to get myself up and going. It's been a two Sumatra blend morning with the Keurig at work for a bit! Enjoy your sun and warm weather and Maggie and I will enjoy our snow and cold snuggly weather!

So sweet Mere. I love that Max is a Packers fan and that little man has given Mickey a last name. hehe. I hope his sniffles and snot are over soon. It's so hard to see them like that. You deserve many lovely valentines, my friend.
