Returning to our new normal................

Hello everyone!  How are you?

We are still recovering here from Covid.  Yes I have been back to work and Little Buddy has started school but the fatigue is very real and so is the brain fog.  This week I had difficulty writing up and evaluation on a beautiful baby girl who has a crooked skull and shortened neck musculature due to her positioning.  It was a breeze to talk to this new mom about this beauty and all her issues but boy I could not write about it.  It is a bit scary.  Little Buddy developed a cough this week when he did not have one when he was positive, but he did have a stuffed up nose and I think it is finally all letting loose in that little head of his. Still we move forward because what other choice do you have?

This will be a short post, see fatigue above.  Little Buddy did start fifth grade in his new school for children who learn uniquely.  Even starting this past Wednesday we still do not know if he will receive a scholarship and how much it will be.  It is a Department of Education issue with the state of Florida, no surprise there that our government is not working smoothly.  Still I have been a wreck calling people, online chatting and frankly there is nothing I can do.  So we have to withdrawal kids out of public school, where they can't be taught with these issues and then not know the amount we can get to help them in private school, and of course knowing early enough you could put them back in public school if the amount was not sufficient, but now I can't even put him back in the school I took him out of.  It is a big sh*t show if you ask me and I told the scholarship people that, nicely of course because it was not the fault of the poor woman I was talking to.  I asked them to record my call and give it to every supervisor on up to the top not that it will help.

We did make one more early morning beach trip last weekend even though I was told we go to the beach too much, and we have gone way to many times this summer, I think the grand total is three or four at the most.  For someone who was so crabby about going he sure had fun.

This has been a busy weekend just getting things done around here.  With Little Buddy in a school about 35 minutes away it eats into my time to accomplish things around here.  Plus I am picking up a few kids on Friday because if I am that far south I might as well make the best of it.

Hope you are all well.  Stay safe.

How scary not finding the words to write. That COVID is so nasty. I hope the brain fog lifts soon. Too funny about the beach and going way too much! I hope the scholarship covers what you need it to cover. If the powers that be had experience of your situation, you can bet the situation wouldn't be what you are experiencing now.

I am glad you and Buddy was feeling better. I remember being sick a few days off work and then had too much coughing for awhile. I had to reschedule my dental appt due need to not be there with that problem in Jan. Going to the coast is my favorite thing to do. Not been there since April but I can survive. May go one day when off work sometimes since it's 1.5 hours to get there. I am going to finish shawl today then get it mailed this week to friends in PA. Hope things go ok for school scholarship. Hugs and blessings, Becky

It sounds like you're on better side of all the Covid stuff. I hope things continue to improve quickly and you get your strength back. 5th grade! Your little guy isn't so little anymore. Good luck with the scholarship details. Oh, yes, things are such a mess these days :(

Sending good juju your way, so that you and LilB can get back to feeling better, and get his scholarship worked out!

I hope you get good news soon about the schooling, what a stressful situation. I hope you continue to feel better and less tired.

It's nice to see you here again.
So many challenges in Florida with education. I'm sick about it. It's shocking what the extremist and authoritarian governor is doing.
It's incredible that your little one is already in the fifth grade! How can that be true?
Take care. It will take some time to feel truly better from Covid.

Hoping for some reasonable scheduling for you and that Lil Buddy does well at his new school. Your boys look so sweet!

I am so sorry to hear of your Covid struggles. It's certainly a bug that doesn't play nice. I can hardly believe it's back to school time already. I was shocked when the water park guy said they were down to their last two weeks before they close. I had to go home and look at the calendar. This summer flew by.

You can do this. You can do it all. Just remember to step back every now and then to take care of yourself.

Also? The leg draped over the bed is priceless.

I hope you continue to feel better. I am sorry you have to struggle to get good schooling for Little Buddy. Your Department of Education seems to want to keep children from getting the best education they can have and how does that benefit anyone in that state!?
How hope it works out for Little Buddy and you and things go more smoothly this coming school year.

So good to hear from you again. I'd been wondering how you and Little Buddy were doing. So sorry you have the lingering fatigue and brain fog. And then the school issue on top of it...ugh!

Hope each day is an improvement for you. {{hugs}}

Rest up Meredith, I know that is easier said than done! My husband has had covid and he has plodded on but really he needs to rest more. I am the only person not to have had a positive test in our family through the whole pandemic, not sure why? Jo x

Oh Meredith, I'm sorry to hear that you and LB are still not "up to snuff." That brain fog is a real thing. We have been SO blessed so far that we haven't had the dreaded virus. Everyone else in our family has had it. All of the kids have had it at least once. It hangs on for awhile. I hope you can get more rest and I know THAT'S easier said than done. I laughed out loud at the too many times at the beach comment. You don't hear that from a child very often. :-)
I will also pray that the school problems get resolved soon. That kind of stress won't help you heal.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

Sorry you're feeling tired and brain foggy. That is me on a good day actually! Also, I had it a few weeks ago. My sense of smell has mostly gone, but otherwise I'm fine. I seem to have missed a couple of posts from you, so I have just caught up with them. I can imagine you do miss having a pool that you can get into with Little B for some therapy time. The school situation sounds like a nightmare, I really hope it works out for you both. It can be difficult for parents in similar situations here too. As if having a child who needs support outside of mainstream education was not enough to deal with, people have to spend hours battling with bureaucracy and uncertainty as well, I have had friends who have had to go through this and I know how hard it has been, doing appeals etc. I really hope you get some good news very soon. I hope Hank's skin/fur situation resolves soon, it would be good to have a conversation with them wouldn't it. I love the picture of them all on the bed, they're adorable! CJ xx

Dear Meredith,
Please do believe me when I say everything will get better. Adjustment takes time and it is not easy, being a single mom is even harder sometimes scarier. But, everything will getter eventually.
I am sending you positive thoughts and best wishes from my corner of the world.
Hugs,
Gaia.

I can't believe Little Buddy is already in FIFTH GRADE! He looks so handsome heading off to school.

I hope you can get the financial info you need soon. That is a stress no parent needs.
