Merry Christmas

Suddenly it is Christmas and I seemed to have missed two whole months here on this blog.  This picture is horrible, a picture of a picture but you get the idea. One little boy I know is very excited about a visit from Santa.  There is something wonderful about believing in all things magic at this time of year.  I feel he will be very pleased, even if our Christmas is very different from years past.

Things have been exceptionally difficult these past few months.  Navigating a divorce, and a not very friendly one at that, is hard while working and taking care of my special boy.  His school continues to not be helpful as far as challenging him intellectually, and now just as I suspected, he is falling behind.  So this Christmas break we will be working on writing and math, reading comprehension and test taking.  All to even keep him remotely close to what his neurotypical peers are learning. I certainly wish I had not followed the advice of so many and put him in this school for children who learn differently.  It really was a combination of a new principal/administration and a new teacher that does not have the ability to understand Little Buddy that has created this mess.  We need to finish the year and move forward, whatever that might look like in the future.

Still with all that is going on I am blessed to have wonderful support. And I want to thank you all for sticking with me here in this space. Your emails and kind thoughts have warmed my heart more than you will ever know.  Checking on us here when I am not posting just means the world to me.  It is so lovely not to be forgotten.

I wish you all the very best Holiday.  Stay warm and safe, love those you can up close and send love to those far away.  I am sending you all a very big hug filled with love and gratitude for being so wonderful.

Good to read another blog post from you, Meredith. Hope you had a good Christmas day with Little Buddy. I like seeing his smiling face. Hopefully life will get better in 2023 and beyond. You're in my thoughts and prayers. We had an icy day late Thursday and all day Friday. Icy roads and sidewalks around town . I'm glad it's finally above freezing again. Happy New Year. 😊

Dear Meredith, it's so lovely to see a pic of LB enjoying his visit to Santa. You must honestly be one of the strongest people ever, to be going through all that you're going through and still having the energy to take such wonderful good care of him. People always say take care of yourself too, and I know that is so very hard to do when you have so much to accomplish, so I really hope that your lovely older boys and their parters are helping out too and taking care of Mom, and that you have good friends who can also help and listen. sending you and your family so much love xoxoxo frances

So glad to catch up with you and Little Buddy again at Christmas. Many thoughts for happiness for you and all your family, including your sister and hubby whose blog I follow too.
As a retired teacher I am so sad to hear of the bad experiences at Buddy's new school. I am totally on your side without really knowing all the circumstances because I always believed that a child's parents know him best. The professional has something valuable to offer...usually.. but only when their expertise matches the real needs not the "professinal"imagined needs of the child.
I am a mother of four, one with slight autism so I know from both sides of the coin how difficult it can be to make people understand.
As others have said you are doing an amazing job, keep doing it and in the future you will look on this time as something you "got through" and be proud of yourself for it.
Many best wishes

Merry Christmas, Meredith.

Life is no sugar cane, that's for sure. It isn't fair either. With that in mind, we go on. Life is also wonderful.

I wish you all the best in the new year coming soon. All the best to little Buddy in school, too.

There is one thing about life: Everybody needs to find and should be looking for the spot where s/he belongs and feels safe and warm, as you are writing.

I'm so glad to hear from you, Mere. And, that you are having a good Christmas after a grim year. It sounds as though some of the challenges will continue for a bit and the school is an especially frustrating and disturbing one but my hope is that as time goes by a solution will make itself clear. I so admire that you have been able to negotiate this bumpy path and still come out with a smile. Sending love and all good wishes for a beautiful new year with many joys.
